The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
Matthew 19:4"Have you not read," He replied, "that He who made them `made them' from the beginning `male and female,And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made [them] from the beginning made them male and female, And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
Matthew 19:5and said, For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be one'?and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
Matthew 19:6Thus they are no longer two, but `one'! What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Matthew 19:7"Why then," said they, "did Moses command the husband to give her `a written notice of divorce,' and so put her away?"They say unto him, Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put [her] away? They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
Matthew 19:8"Moses," He replied, "in consideration of the hardness of your nature permitted you to put away your wives, but it has not been so from the beginning. He saith unto them, Moses for your hardness of heart suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it hath not been so. He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
Matthew 19:9And I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery."And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Matthew 19:10"If this is the case with a man in relation to his wife," said the disciples to Him, "it is better not to marry."The disciples say unto him, If the case of the man is so with his wife, it is not expedient to marry. His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.
Matthew 19:11"It is not every man," He replied, "who can receive this teaching, but only those on whom the grace has been bestowed. But he said unto them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it is given. But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.
Matthew 19:12There are men who from their birth have been disabled from marriage, others who have been so disabled by men, and others who have disabled themselves for the sake of the Kingdom of the Heavens. He who is able to receive this, let him receive it."For there are eunuchs, that were so born from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Matthew 19:13Then young children were brought to Him for Him to put His hands on them and pray; but the disciples interfered. Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should lay his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. Matthew 19:14Jesus however said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them; for it is to those who are childlike that the Kingdom of the Heavens belongs."But Jesus said, Suffer the little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for to such belongeth the kingdom of heaven. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:15So He laid His hands upon them and went away. And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence. And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.
Matthew 19:16"Teacher," said one man, coming up to Him, "what that is good shall I do in order to win the Life of the Ages?"And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
Matthew 19:17"Why do you ask me," He replied, "about what is good? There is only One who is truly good. But if you desire to enter into Life, keep the Commandments."And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Matthew 19:18"Which Commandments?" he asked. Jesus answered, "`Thou shalt not kill;' `Thou shalt not commit adultery;' `Thou shalt not steal;' `Thou shalt not lie in giving evidence;'He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, He saith unto him, Which? Matthew 19:21"If you desire to be perfect," replied Jesus, "go and sell all that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have wealth in Heaven; and come, follow me."Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Matthew 19:22On hearing those words the young man went away much cast down; for he had much property. But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Matthew 19:23So Jesus said to His disciples, "I solemnly tell you that it is with difficulty that a rich man will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens. And Jesus said unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:24Yes, I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God."And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Matthew 19:25These words utterly amazed the disciples, and they asked, "Who then can be saved?"And when the disciples heard it, they were astonished exceedingly, saying, Who then can be saved? When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

Matthew 19:27Then Peter said to Jesus, "See, *we* have forsaken everything and followed you; what then will be *our* reward?"Then answered Peter and said unto him, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee; what then shall we have? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
