Hebrews 9:1Now even the first Covenant had regulations for divine worship, and had also its sanctuary a sanctuary belonging to this world.Now even a first [covenant] had ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, [a sanctuary] of this world. It had, indeed, then (even the first tabernacle) ordinances of service, also a worldly sanctuary,
Hebrews 9:2For a sacred tent was constructed the outer one, in which were the lamp and the table and the presented loaves; and this is called the Holy place.For there was a tabernacle prepared, the first, wherein [were] the candlestick, and the table, and the showbread; which is called the Holy place. for a tabernacle was prepared, the first, in which was both the lamp-stand, and the table, and the bread of the presence which is called `Holy;`
Hebrews 9:3And behind the second veil was a sacred tent called the Holy of holies.And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holy of holies; and after the second vail a tabernacle that is called `Holy of holies,`
Hebrews 9:4This had a censer of gold, and the ark of the Covenant lined with gold and completely covered with gold, and in it were a gold vase which held the manna, and Aaron's rod which budded and the tables of the Covenant.having a golden altar of incense, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein [was] a golden pot holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; having a golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid all round about with gold, in which [is] the golden pot having the manna, and the rod of Aaron that budded, and the tables of the covenant,
Hebrews 9:5And above the ark were the Cherubim denoting God's glorious presence and overshadowing the Mercy-seat. But I cannot now speak about all these in detail.and above it cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy-seat; of which things we cannot now speak severally. and over it cherubim of the glory, overshadowing the mercy-seat, concerning which we are not now to speak particularly.
Hebrews 9:6These arrangements having long been completed, the priests, when conducting the divine services, continually enter the outer tent.Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services; And these things having been thus prepared, into the first tabernacle, indeed, at all times the priests do go in, performing the services,
Hebrews 9:7But into the second, the High Priest goes only on one day of the year, and goes alone, taking with him blood, which he offers on his own behalf and on account of the sins which the people have ignorantly committed.but into the second the high priest alone, once in the year, not without blood, which he offereth for himself, and for the errors of the people: and into the second, once in the year, only the chief priest, not apart from blood, which he doth offer for himself and the errors of the people,
Hebrews 9:8And the lesson which the Holy Spirit teaches is this that the way into the true Holy place is not yet open so long as the outer tent still remains in existence.the Holy Spirit this signifying, that the way into the holy place hath not yet been made manifest, while the first tabernacle is yet standing; the Holy Spirit this evidencing that not yet hath been manifested the way of the holy [places], the first tabernacle having yet a standing;
Hebrews 9:9And this is a figure for the time now present answering to which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, unable though they are to give complete freedom from sin to him who ministers.which [is] a figure for the time present; according to which are offered both gifts and sacrifices that cannot, as touching the conscience, make the worshipper perfect, which [is] a simile in regard to the present time, in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, which are not able, in regard to conscience, to make perfect him who is serving,
Hebrews 9:10For their efficacy depends only on meats and drinks and various washings, ceremonies pertaining to the body and imposed until a time of reformation.[being] only (with meats and drinks and divers washings) carnal ordinances, imposed until a time of reformation. only in victuals, and drinks, and different baptisms, and fleshly ordinances till the time of reformation imposed upon [them].
Hebrews 9:11But Christ appeared as a High Priest of the blessings that are soon to come by means of the greater and more perfect Tent of worship, a tent which has not been built with hands that is to say does not belong to this material creationBut Christ having come a high priest of the good things to come, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation, And Christ being come, chief priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands that is, not of this creation
Hebrews 9:12and once for all entered the Holy place, taking with Him not the blood of goats and calves, but His own blood, and thus procuring eternal redemption for us.nor yet through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption. neither through blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, did enter in once into the holy places, age-during redemption having obtained;
Hebrews 9:13For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have contracted defilement make them holy so as to bring about ceremonial purity,For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling them that have been defiled, sanctify unto the cleanness of the flesh: for if the blood of bulls, and goats, and ashes of an heifer, sprinkling those defiled, doth sanctify to the purifying of the flesh,
Hebrews 9:14how much more certainly shall the blood of Christ, who strengthened by the eternal Spirit offered Himself to God, free from blemish, purify your consciences from lifeless works for you to serve the ever-living God?how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish unto God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? how much more shall the blood of the Christ (who through the age-during Spirit did offer himself unblemished to God) purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
Hebrews 9:15And because of this He is the negotiator of a new Covenant, in order that, since a life has been given in atonement for the offences committed under the first Covenant, those who have been called may receive the eternal inheritance which has been promised to them.And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. And because of this, of a new covenant he is mediator, that, death having come, for redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, those called may receive the promise of the age-during inheritance,
Hebrews 9:16For where there is a legal `will,' there must also be a death brought forward in evidence the death of him who made it.For where a testament is, there must of necessity be the death of him that made it. for where a covenant [is], the death of the covenant-victim to come in is necessary,
Hebrews 9:17And a will is only of force in the case of a deceased person, being never of any avail so long as he who made it lives.For a testament is of force where there hath been death: for it doth never avail while he that made it liveth. for a covenant over dead victims [is] stedfast, since it is no force at all when the covenant-victim liveth,
Hebrews 9:18Accordingly we find that the first Covenant was not inaugurated without blood.Wherefore even the first [covenant] hath not been dedicated without blood. whence not even the first apart from blood hath been initiated,
Hebrews 9:19For when Moses had proclaimed to all the people every commandment contained in the Law, he took the blood of the calves and of the goats and with them water, scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses unto all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, for every command having been spoken, according to law, by Moses, to all the people, having taken the blood of the calves and goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, he both the book itself and all the people did sprinkle,
Hebrews 9:20saying, "This is the blood which confirms the Covenant that God has made binding upon you."saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded to you-ward. saying, `This [is] the blood of the covenant that God enjoined unto you,`
Hebrews 9:21And in the same way he also sprinkled blood upon the Tent of worship and upon all the vessels used in the ministry.Moreover the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry he sprinkled in like manner with the blood. and both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the service with blood in like manner he did sprinkle,
Hebrews 9:22Indeed we may almost say that in obedience to the Law everything is sprinkled with blood, and that apart from the outpouring of blood there is no remission of sins.And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission. and with blood almost all things are purified according to the law, and apart from blood-shedding forgiveness doth not come.
Hebrews 9:23It was needful therefore that the copies of the things in Heaven should be cleansed in this way, but that the heavenly things themselves should be cleansed with more costly sacrifices.It was necessary therefore that the copies of the things in the heavens should be cleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. [It is] necessary, therefore, the pattern indeed of the things in the heavens to be purified with these, and the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these;
Hebrews 9:24For not into a Holy place built by men's hands a mere copy of the reality did Christ enter, but He entered Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.For Christ entered not into a holy place made with hands, like in pattern to the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear before the face of God for us: for not into holy places made with hands did the Christ enter figures of the true but into the heaven itself, now to be manifested in the presence of God for us;
Hebrews 9:25Nor did He enter for the purpose of many times offering Himself in sacrifice, just as the High Priest enters the Holy place, year after year, taking with him blood not his own.nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place year by year with blood not his own; nor that he may many times offer himself, even as the chief priest doth enter into the holy places every year with blood of others;
Hebrews 9:26In that case Christ would have needed to suffer many times, from the creation of the world onwards; but as a matter of fact He has appeared once for all, at the Close of the Ages, in order to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.else must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once at the end of the ages hath he been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages, for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested;
Hebrews 9:27And since it is reserved for all mankind once to die, and afterwards to be judged;And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this [cometh] judgment; and as it is laid up to men once to die, and after this judgment,
Hebrews 9:28so the Christ also, having been once offered in sacrifice in order that He might bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, separated from sin, to those who are eagerly expecting Him, to make their salvation complete.so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation. so also the Christ, once having been offered to bear the sins of many, a second time, apart from a sin-offering, shall appear, to those waiting for him to salvation!
