A reed waving in the wind? | And when they were going away, Jesus, talking of John, said to all the people, What went you out into the waste land to see? a tall stem moving in the wind? | And when they went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: What went you out into the desert to see? a reed shaken with the wind? |
Matthew 11:8 | But what did you go out to see? A man luxuriously dressed? Those who wear luxurious clothes are to be found in kings' palaces. | But what went you out to see? a man delicately clothed? Those who have fair robes are in kings' houses. | But what went you out to see? a man clothed in soft garments? Behold they that are clothed in soft garments, are in the houses of kings. |
Matthew 11:9 | But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and far more than a prophet. | But why did you go out? to see a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. | But what went you out to see? a prophet? yea I tell you, and more than a prophet. |

Matthew 11:11 | "I solemnly tell you that among all of woman born no greater has ever been raised up than John the Baptist; yet one who is of lower rank in the Kingdom of the Heavens is greater than he. | Truly I say to you, Among the sons of women there has not been a greater than John the Baptist: but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. | Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the lesser in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. |
Matthew 11:12 | But from the time of John the Baptist till now, the Kingdom of the Heavens has been suffering violent assault, and the violent have been seizing it by force. | And from the days of John the Baptist till now, the kingdom of heaven is forcing its way in, and men of force take it. | And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away. |
Matthew 11:13 | For all the Prophets and the Law taught until John. | For all the prophets and the law were in force till John. | For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John: |

Matthew 11:16 | "But to what shall I compare the present generation? It is like children sitting in the open places, who call to their playmates. | But what comparison may I make of this generation? It is like children seated in the market-places, crying out to one another, | But whereunto shall I esteem this generation to be like? It is like to children sitting in the market place. |
Matthew 11:17 | "`We have played the flute to you,' they say, `and you have not danced: we have sung dirges, and you have not beaten your breasts.' | We made music for you and you did not take part in the dance; we gave cries of sorrow and you made no signs of grief. | Who crying to their companions say: We have piped to you, and you have not danced: we have lamented, and you have not mourned. |

And wisdom is justified by her children. |

Matthew 11:21 | "Alas for thee, Chorazin!" He cried. "Alas for thee, Bethsaida! For had the mighty works been done in Tyre and Sidon which have been done in both of you, they would long ere now have repented, covered with sackcloth and ashes. | Unhappy are you, Chorazin! Unhappy are you, Beth-saida! For if the works of power which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have been turned from their sins in days gone by, clothing themselves in haircloth and putting dust on their heads. | Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, they had long ago done penance in sackcloth and ashes. |
Matthew 11:22 | Only I tell you that it will be more endurable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of Judgement than for you. | But I say to you, It will be better for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judging, than for you. | But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you. |

For had the mighty works been done in Sodom which have been done in thee, it would have remained until now. | And you, Capernaum, were you not to be lifted up to heaven? you will go down into hell: for if the works of power which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have been here to this day. | And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. Matthew 11:29 | Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. | Take my yoke on you and become like me, for I am gentle and without pride, and you will have rest for your souls; | Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. |
Matthew 11:30 | For it is good to bear my yoke, and my burden is light." | For my yoke is good, and the weight I take up is not hard. | For my yoke is sweet and my burden light. |
