1st-Peter 5:1So I exhort the Elders among you I who am their fellow Elder and have been an eye-witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and am also a sharer in the glory which is soon to be revealed.I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you:The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
1st-Peter 5:2Be shepherds of God's flock which is among you. Exercise the oversight not reluctantly but eagerly, in accordance with the will of God; not for base gain but with cheerful minds;Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind;Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight of it, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but from a ready mind;
1st-Peter 5:3not lording it over your Churches but proving yourselves patterns for the flock to imitate.Not as lords over God's heritage, but making yourselves examples to the flock.Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
1st-Peter 5:4And then, when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the never-withering wreath of glory.And at the coming of the chief Keeper of the sheep, you will be given the eternal crown of glory.And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
1st-Peter 5:5In the same way you younger men must submit to your elders; and all of you must gird yourselves with humility towards one another, for God sets Himself against the proud, but gives grace to the humble.And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low.Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
1st-Peter 5:6Humble yourselves therefore beneath the mighty hand of God, so that at the right time He may set you on high.For this cause make yourselves low under the strong hand of God, so that when the time comes you may be lifted up;Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1st-Peter 5:7Throw the whole of your anxiety upon Him, because He Himself cares for you.Putting all your troubles on him, for he takes care of you.Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1st-Peter 5:8Curb every passion, and be on the alert. Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.Be serious and keep watch; the Evil One, who is against you, goes about like a lion with open mouth in search of food;Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1st-Peter 5:9Withstand him, firm in your faith; knowing that your brethren in other parts of the world are passing through just the same experiences.Do not give way to him but be strong in your faith, in the knowledge that your brothers who are in the world undergo the same troubles.Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
1st-Peter 5:10And God, the giver of all grace, who has called you to share His eternal glory, through Christ, after you have suffered for a short time, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong.And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
1st-Peter 5:11To Him be all power unto the Ages of the Ages! Amen.His is the power for ever. So be it.To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1st-Peter 5:12I send this short letter by Silas, our faithful brother for such I regard him in order to encourage you, and to bear witness that what I have told you is the true grace of God. In it stand fast.I have sent you this short letter by Silvanus, a true brother, in my opinion; comforting you and witnessing that this is the true grace of God; keep to it.By Silvanus, a faithful brother to you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.
1st-Peter 5:13The Church in Babylon, chosen like yourselves by God, sends greetings, and so does Mark my son.She who is in Babylon, who has a part with you in the purpose of God, sends you her love; and so does my son Mark.The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Mark my son.
1st-Peter 5:14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.Give one another the kiss of love. Peace be to you all in Christ.Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
