John 15:1 | "I am the Vine the True Vine, and my Father is the vine-dresser. | I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. | I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. |
John 15:2 | Every branch in me if it bears no fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. | He takes away every branch in me which has no fruit, and every branch which has fruit he makes clean, so that it may have more fruit. | Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleaneth it, that it my bring forth more fruit. |
John 15:3 | Already you are cleansed through the teaching which I have given you. | You are clean, even now, through the teaching which I have given you. | Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken to you. |
John 15:4 | Continue in me, and let me continue in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself that is, if it does not continue in the vine so neither can you if you do not continue in me. | Be in me at all times as I am in you. As the branch is not able to give fruit of itself, if it is not still on the vine, so you are not able to do so if you are not in me. | Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine: no more can ye, except ye abide in me. |
John 15:5 | I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who continues in me and in whom I continue bears abundant fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine, you are the branches: he who is in me at all times as I am in him, gives much fruit, because without me you are able to do nothing. | I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. |
John 15:6 | If any one does not continue in me, he is like the unfruitful branch which is at once thrown away and then withers up. Such branches they gather up and throw into the fire and they are burned. | If a man does not keep himself in me, he becomes dead and is cut off like a dry branch; such branches are taken up and put in the fire and burned. | If a man abideth not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. |
John 15:7 | "If you continue in me and my sayings continue in you, ask what you will and it shall be done for you. | If you are in me at all times, and my words are in you, then anything for which you make a request will be done for you. | If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye may ask what ye will, and it shall be done to you. |
John 15:8 | By this is God glorified by your bearing abundant fruit and thus being true disciples of mine. | Here is my Father's glory, in that you give much fruit and so are my true disciples. | In this is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. |
John 15:9 | As the Father has loved me, I have also loved you: continue in my love. | Even as the Father has given me his love, so I have given my love to you: be ever in my love. | As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. |
John 15:10 | If you obey my commands, you will continue in my love, as I have obeyed my Father's commands and continue in His love. | If you keep my laws, you will be ever in my love, even as I have kept my Father's laws, and am ever in his love. | If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. |
John 15:11 | "These things I have spoken to you in order that I may have joy in you, and that your joy may become perfect. | I have said these things to you so that I may have joy in you and so that your joy may be complete. | These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. |
John 15:12 | This is my commandment to you, to love one another as I have loved you. | This is the law I give you: Have love one for another, even as I have love for you. | This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. |
John 15:13 | No one has greater love than this a man laying down his life for his friends. | Greater love has no man than this, that a man gives up his life for his friends. | Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. |
John 15:14 | You are my friends, if you do what I command you. | You are my friends, if you do what I give you orders to do. | Ye are my friends, if ye do whatever I command you. |
John 15:15 | No longer do I call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, because all that I have heard from the Father I have made known to you. | No longer do I give you the name of servants; because a servant is without knowledge of what his master is doing: I give you the name of friends, because I have given you knowledge of all the things which my Father has said to me. | Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. |
John 15:16 | It is not you who chose me, but it is I who chose you and appointed you that you might go and be fruitful and that your fruit might remain; so that whatever petition you present to the Father in my name He may give you. | You did not take me for yourselves, but I took you for myself; and I gave you the work of going about and producing fruit which will be for ever; so that whatever request you make to the Father in my name he may give it to you. | Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. |
John 15:17 | "Thus I command you to love one another. | So this is my law for you: Have love one for another. | These things I command you, that ye love one another. |
John 15:18 | If the world hates you, remember that it has first had me as the fixed object of its hatred. | If you are hated by the world, keep in mind that I was hated by the world before you. | If the world hateth you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. |
John 15:19 | If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own property. But because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world for that reason the world hates you. | If you were of the world, you would be loved by the world: but because you are not of the world, but I have taken you out of the world, you are hated by the world. | If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. |
John 15:20 | Bear in mind what I said to you, `A servant is not superior to his master.' If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. | Keep in mind the words I said to you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they were cruel to me, they will be cruel to you; if they kept my words, they will keep yours. | Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. |
John 15:21 | But they will inflict all this suffering upon you on account of your bearing my name because they do not know Him who sent me. | They will do all this to you because of my name because they have no knowledge of him who sent me. | But all these things will they do to you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. |
John 15:22 | "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have had no sin; but as the case stands they are without excuse for their sin. | If I had not come and been their teacher they would have had no sin: but now they have no reason to give for their sin. | If I had not come and spoken to them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. |
John 15:23 | He who hates me hates my Father also. | He who has hate for me has hate for my Father. | He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. |
John 15:24 | If I had not done among them, as I have, such miracles as no one else ever did, they would have had no sin; but they have in fact seen and also hated both me and my Father. | If I had not done among them the works which no other man ever did, they would have had no sin: but now they have seen, and they have had hate in their hearts for me and my Father. | If I had not done among them the works which no other man hath done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father. |
John 15:25 | But this has been so, in order that the saying may be fulfilled which stands written in their Law, `They have hated me without any reason.' | This comes about so that the writing in their law may be made true, Their hate for me was without cause. | But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. |
John 15:26 | "When the Advocate is come whom I will send to you from the Father's presence the Spirit of Truth who comes forth from the Father's presence He will be a witness concerning me. | When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father even the Spirit of true knowledge who comes from the Father he will give witness about me; | But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he will testify concerning me. |
John 15:27 | And you also are witnesses, because you have been with me from the first. | And you, in addition, will give witness because you have been with me from the first. | And ye also shall bear testimony, because ye have been with me from the beginning. |
