Mark 3:1At another time, when He went to the synagogue, there was a man there with one arm shrivelled up.And he went again into the Synagogue; and there was a man there whose hand was dead.He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had his hand withered.
Mark 3:2They closely watched Him to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath so as to have a charge to bring against Him.And they were watching him to see if he would make him well on the Sabbath day, so that they might have something against him.They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him.
Mark 3:3"Come forward," said He to the man with the shrivelled arm.And he said to the man, Get up and come forward.He said to the man who had his hand withered, "Stand up."
Mark 3:4Then He asked them, "Are we allowed to do good on the Sabbath, or to do evil? to save a life, or to destroy one?" They remained silent.And he said to them, Is it right to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil? to give life or to put to death? But they said nothing.He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?" But they were silent.
Mark 3:5Grieved and indignant at the hardening of their hearts, He looked round on them with anger, and said to the man, "Stretch out your arm." He stretched it out, and the arm was completely restored.And looking round on them he was angry, being sad because of their hard hearts; and he said to the man, Put out your hand. And he put it out, and his hand was made well.When he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as healthy as the other.
Mark 3:6But no sooner had the Pharisees left the synagogue than they held a consultation with the Herodians against Jesus, to devise some means of destroying Him.And the Pharisees went out, and straight away made designs with the Herodians about how they might put him to death.The Pharisees went out, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
Mark 3:7Accordingly Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the Lake, and a vast crowd of people from Galilee followed Him;And Jesus went away with his disciples to the sea, and a great number from Galilee came after him: and from Judaea,Jesus withdrew to the sea with his disciples, and a great multitude followed him from Galilee, from Judea,
Mark 3:8and from Judaea and Jerusalem and Idumaea and from beyond the Jordan and from the district of Tyre and Sidon there came to Him a vast crowd, hearing of all that He was doing.And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and the other side of Jordan, and the country about Tyre and Sidon, a great number, hearing what great things he did, came to him.from Jerusalem, from Idumaea, beyond the Jordan, and those from around Tyre and Sidon. A great multitude, hearing what great things he did, came to him.
Mark 3:9So He gave directions to His disciples to keep a small boat in constant attendance on Him because of the throng to prevent their crushing Him.And he made a request to his disciples to have a little boat ready for him, so that he might not be crushed by the people;He spoke to his disciples, that a little boat should stay near him because of the crowd, so that they wouldn't press on him.
Mark 3:10For He had cured many of the people, so that all who had any ailments pressed upon Him, to touch Him.For he had made such a great number well that all those who were diseased were falling down before him for the purpose of touching him.For he had healed many, so that as many as had diseases pressed on him that they might touch him.
Mark 3:11And the foul spirits, whenever they saw Him, threw themselves down at His feet, screaming out: "You are the Son of God."And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, went down before him, crying out, and saying, You are the Son of God.The unclean spirits, whenever they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, "You are the Son of God!"
Mark 3:12But He many a time checked them, forbidding them to say who He was.And he gave them special orders not to say who he was.He sternly warned them that they should not make him known.
Mark 3:13Then He went up the hill; and those whom He Himself chose He called, and they came to Him.And he went up into the mountain, and sent for those whom it was his pleasure to have with him: and they went to him.He went up into the mountain, and called to himself whom he wanted, and they went to him.
Mark 3:14He appointed twelve of them, that they might be with Him, and that He might also send them to proclaim His Message,And he took twelve to be with him, so that he might send them out as preachers,He appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to preach,
Mark 3:15with authority to expel the demons.And give them the power of driving out evil spirits:and to have authority to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:
Mark 3:16These twelve were Simon (to whom He gave the surname of Peter),To Simon he gave the second name of Peter;Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter;
Mark 3:17James the son of Zabdi and John the brother of James (these two He surnamed Boanerges, that is `Sons of Thunder'),And to James, the son of Zebedee, and John, the brother of James, he gave the second name of Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder:James the son of Zebedee; John, the brother of James, and them he surnamed Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder;
Mark 3:18Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananaean,And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James, the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot;Andrew; Philip; Bartholomew; Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot;
Mark 3:19and Judas Iscariot, the man who also betrayed Him.And Judas Iscariot, who was false to him.and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. He came into a house.
Mark 3:20And He went into a house. But again the crowd assembled, so that there was no opportunity for them even to snatch a meal.And he went into a house. And the people came together again, so that they were not even able to take bread.The multitude came together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
Mark 3:21Hearing of this, His relatives came to seize Him by force, for they said, "He is out of his mind."And when his friends had news of it, they went out to get him, saying, He is off his head.When his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, "He is insane."
Mark 3:22The Scribes, too, who had come down from Jerusalem said, "He has Baal-zebul in him; and it is by the power of the Prince of the demons that he expels the demons."And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem, said, He has Beelzebub, and, By the ruler of evil spirits he sends evil spirits out of men.The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebul," and, "By the prince of the demons he casts out the demons."
Mark 3:23So He called them to Him, and using figurative language He appealed to them, saying, "How is it possible for Satan to expel Satan?And turning to them, he said to them in the form of a story, How is it possible for Satan to put out Satan?He called them to him, and said to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?
Mark 3:24For if civil war breaks out in a kingdom, nothing can make that kingdom last;If there is division in a kingdom, that kingdom will come to destruction;If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
Mark 3:25and if a family splits into parties, that family cannot continue.And if there is division in a house, that house will come to destruction;If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
Mark 3:26So if Satan has risen in arms and has made war upon himself, stand he cannot, but meets his end.And if Satan is at war with himself, and there is division in him, he will not keep his place but will come to an end.If Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he can't stand, but has an end.
Mark 3:27Nay, no one can go into a strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.But no one is able to go into the house of the strong man and take his goods, without first putting cords round the strong man, and then he will take his goods.But no one can enter into the house of the strong man to plunder, unless he first binds the strong man; and then he will plunder his house.
Mark 3:28In solemn truth I tell you that all their sins may be pardoned to the sons of men, and all their blasphemies, however they may have blasphemed;Truly, I say to you, The sons of men will have forgiveness for all their sins and for all the evil words they say:Most assuredly I tell you, all their sins will be forgiven to the sons of men, and their blasphemies with which they may blaspheme;
Mark 3:29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, he remains for ever unabsolved: he is guilty of a sin of the Ages."But whoever says evil things against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but the evil he has done will be with him for ever:but whoever may blaspheme against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin"
Mark 3:30This was because they said, "He is possessed by a foul spirit."Because they said, He has an unclean spirit.because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."
Mark 3:31By this time His mother and His brothers arrive, and standing outside they send a message to Him to call Him.And his mother and brothers came and were outside, and sent for him, requesting to see him.His mother and his brothers came, and standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.
Mark 3:32Now a crowd was sitting round Him; so they tell Him, "Your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside, inquiring for you."And a great number were seated round him; and they said to him, See, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you.A multitude was sitting around him, and they told him, "Behold, your mother, your brothers, and your sisters are outside looking for you."
Mark 3:33"Who are my mother and my brothers?" He replied.And he said in answer, Who are my mother and my brothers?He answered them, "Who are my mother and my brothers?"
Mark 3:34And, fixing His eyes on the people who were sitting round Him in a circle, He said,And looking round at those who were seated about him, he said, See, my mother and my brothers!Looking around at those who sat around him, he said, "Behold, my mother and my brothers!
Mark 3:35"Here are my mother and my brothers. For wherever there is one who has been obedient to God, there is my brother my sister and my mother."Whoever does God's pleasure, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.For whoever may do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother."
