| Hebrews 5:1 | For every High Priest is chosen from among men, and is appointed to act on behalf of men in matters relating to God, in order to offer both gifts and sin-offerings, | For every high priest taken from amongst men is established for men in things relating to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins; | For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: |
| Hebrews 5:2 | and must be one who is able to bear patiently with the ignorant and erring, because he himself also is beset with infirmity. | being able to exercise forbearance towards the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is clothed with infirmity; | who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity; |
| Hebrews 5:3 | And for this reason he is required to offer sin-offerings not only for the people but also for himself. | and, on account of this [infirmity], he ought, even as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. | and by reason thereof is bound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. |

| Hebrews 5:12 | For although, considering the long time you have been believers, you ought now to be teachers of others, you really need some one to teach you over again the very rudiments of the truths of God, and you have come to require milk instead of solid food. | For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have again need that [one] should teach you what [are] the elements of the beginning of the oracles of God, and are become such as have need of milk, [and] not of solid food. | For when by reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you the rudiments of the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of solid food. |
| Hebrews 5:13 | By people who live on milk I mean those who are imperfectly acquainted with the teaching concerning righteousness. | For every one that partakes of milk [is] unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe; | For every one that partaketh of milk is without experience of the word of righteousness; for he is a babe. |
| Hebrews 5:14 | Such persons are mere babes. But solid food is for adults that is, for those who through constant practice have their spiritual faculties carefully trained to distinguish good from evil. | but solid food belongs to full-grown men, who, on account of habit, have their senses exercised for distinguishing both good and evil. | But solid food is for fullgrown men, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil. |
