1st-Peter 5:1So I exhort the Elders among you I who am their fellow Elder and have been an eye-witness of the sufferings of the Christ, and am also a sharer in the glory which is soon to be revealed.The elders which [are] among you I exhort, who [am their] fellow-elder and witness of the sufferings of the Christ, who also [am] partaker of the glory about to be revealed:I who am myself one of the rulers of the church, and a witness of the death of Christ, having my part in the coming glory, send this serious request to the chief men among you:
1st-Peter 5:2Be shepherds of God's flock which is among you. Exercise the oversight not reluctantly but eagerly, in accordance with the will of God; not for base gain but with cheerful minds;shepherd the flock of God which [is] among you, exercising oversight, not by necessity, but willingly; not for base gain, but readily;Keep watch over the flock of God which is in your care, using your authority, not as forced to do so, but gladly; and not for unclean profit but with a ready mind;
1st-Peter 5:3not lording it over your Churches but proving yourselves patterns for the flock to imitate.not as lording it over your possessions, but being models for the flock.Not as lords over God's heritage, but making yourselves examples to the flock.
1st-Peter 5:4And then, when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the never-withering wreath of glory.And when the chief shepherd is manifested ye shall receive the unfading crown of glory.And at the coming of the chief Keeper of the sheep, you will be given the eternal crown of glory.
1st-Peter 5:5In the same way you younger men must submit to your elders; and all of you must gird yourselves with humility towards one another, for God sets Himself against the proud, but gives grace to the humble.Likewise [ye] younger, be subject to [the] elder, and all of you bind on humility towards one another; for God sets himself against [the] proud, but to [the] humble gives grace.And in the same way, let the younger men be ruled by the older ones. Let all of you put away pride and make yourselves ready to be servants: for God is a hater of pride, but he gives grace to those who make themselves low.
1st-Peter 5:6Humble yourselves therefore beneath the mighty hand of God, so that at the right time He may set you on high.Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in [the due] time;For this cause make yourselves low under the strong hand of God, so that when the time comes you may be lifted up;
1st-Peter 5:7Throw the whole of your anxiety upon Him, because He Himself cares for you.having cast all your care upon him, for he cares about you.Putting all your troubles on him, for he takes care of you.
1st-Peter 5:8Curb every passion, and be on the alert. Your great accuser, the Devil, is going about like a roaring lion to see whom he can devour.Be vigilant, watch. Your adversary [the] devil as a roaring lion walks about seeking whom he may devour.Be serious and keep watch; the Evil One, who is against you, goes about like a lion with open mouth in search of food;
1st-Peter 5:9Withstand him, firm in your faith; knowing that your brethren in other parts of the world are passing through just the same experiences.Whom resist, stedfast in faith, knowing that the selfsame sufferings are accomplished in your brotherhood which [is] in [the] world.Do not give way to him but be strong in your faith, in the knowledge that your brothers who are in the world undergo the same troubles.
1st-Peter 5:10And God, the giver of all grace, who has called you to share His eternal glory, through Christ, after you have suffered for a short time, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong.But the God of all grace who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, when ye have suffered for a little while, himself shall make perfect, stablish, strengthen, ground:And after you have undergone pain for a little time, the God of all grace who has given you a part in his eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will himself give you strength and support, and make you complete in every good thing;
1st-Peter 5:11To Him be all power unto the Ages of the Ages! Amen.to him [be] the glory and the might for the ages of the ages. Amen.His is the power for ever. So be it.
1st-Peter 5:12I send this short letter by Silas, our faithful brother for such I regard him in order to encourage you, and to bear witness that what I have told you is the true grace of God. In it stand fast.By Silvanus, the faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written to you briefly; exhorting and testifying that this is [the] true grace of God in which ye stand.I have sent you this short letter by Silvanus, a true brother, in my opinion; comforting you and witnessing that this is the true grace of God; keep to it.
1st-Peter 5:13The Church in Babylon, chosen like yourselves by God, sends greetings, and so does Mark my son.She that is elected with [you] in Babylon salutes you, and Marcus my son.She who is in Babylon, who has a part with you in the purpose of God, sends you her love; and so does my son Mark.
1st-Peter 5:14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with all of you who are in Christ.Salute one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all who [are] in Christ.Give one another the kiss of love. Peace be to you all in Christ.
