Matthew 8:2 | And a leper came to Him, and throwing himself at His feet, said, "Sir, if only you are willing you are able to cleanse me." | And behold, a leper came up to [him] and did him homage, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou art able to cleanse me. | And a leper came and gave him worship, saying, Lord, if it is your pleasure, you have power to make me clean. |
Matthew 8:3 | So Jesus put out His hand and touched him, and said, "I am willing: be cleansed." Instantly he was cleansed from his leprosy; | And he stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be cleansed. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. | And he put his hand on him, saying, It is my pleasure; be clean. And straight away he was made clean. |
Matthew 8:4 | and Jesus said to him, "Be careful to tell no one, but go and show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses appointed as evidence for them." | And Jesus says to him, See thou tell no man, but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift which Moses ordained, for a testimony to them. | And Jesus said to him, See that you say nothing about this to anyone; but go and let the priest see you and make the offering which was ordered by Moses, for a witness to them. |
Matthew 8:5 | After His entry into Capernaum a Captain came to Him, and entreated Him. | And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion came to him, beseeching him, | And when Jesus was come into Capernaum, a certain captain came to him with a request, |

Matthew 8:8 | "Sir," replied the Captain, "I am not a fit person to receive you under my roof: merely say the word, and my servant will be cured. | And the centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not fit that thou shouldest enter under my roof; but only speak a word, and my servant shall be healed. | And the captain in answer said, Lord, I am not good enough for you to come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be made well. |
Matthew 8:9 | For I myself am also under authority, and have soldiers under me. To one I say `Go,' and he goes, to another `Come,' and he comes, and to my slave `Do this or that,' and he does it." | For *I* also am a man under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my bondman, Do this, and he does it. | Because I myself am a man under authority, having under me fighting men; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. |
Matthew 8:10 | Jesus listened to this reply, and was astonished, and said to the people following Him, "I solemnly tell you that in no Israelite have I found faith as great as this. | And when Jesus heard it, he wondered, and said to those who followed, Verily I say unto you, Not even in Israel have I found so great faith. | And when these words came to the ears of Jesus he was surprised, and said to those who came after him, Truly I say to you, I have not seen such great faith, no, not in Israel. |
Matthew 8:11 | And I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west and will recline at table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of the Heavens, | But I say unto you, that many shall come from [the] rising and setting [sun], and shall lie down at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens; | And I say to you that numbers will come from the east and the west, and will take their seats with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: |
Matthew 8:12 | while the natural heirs of the Kingdom will be driven out into the darkness outside: there will be the weeping aloud and the gnashing of teeth." | but the sons of the kingdom shall be cast out into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. | But the sons of the kingdom will be put out into the dark, and there will be weeping and cries of pain. |
Matthew 8:13 | And Jesus said to the Captain, "Go, and just as you have believed, so be it for you." And the servant recovered precisely at that time. | And Jesus said to the centurion, Go, and as thou hast believed, be it to thee. And his servant was healed in that hour. | And Jesus said to the captain, Go in peace; as your faith is, so let it be done to you. And the servant was made well in that hour. |
Matthew 8:14 | After this Jesus went to the house of Peter, whose mother-in-law he found ill in bed with fever. | And when Jesus had come to Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law laid down and in a fever; | And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother in bed, very ill. |
Matthew 8:15 | He touched her hand and the fever left her: and then she rose and waited upon Him. | and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and served him. | And he put his hand on hers and the disease went from her, and she got up and took care of his needs. |
Matthew 8:16 | In the evening many demoniacs were brought to Him, and with a word He expelled the demons; and He cured all the sick, | And when the evening was come, they brought to him many possessed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all that were ill; | And in the evening, they took to him a number of people who had evil spirits; and he sent the spirits out of them with a word, and made well all who were ill; |
Matthew 8:17 | in order that this prediction of the Prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, "He took on Him our weaknesses, and bore the burden of our diseases." | so that that should be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases. | So that the word of Isaiah the prophet might come true: He himself took our pains and our diseases. |
Matthew 8:18 | Seeing great crowds about Him Jesus had given directions to cross to the other side of the Lake, | And Jesus, seeing great crowds around him, commanded to depart to the other side. | Now when Jesus saw a great mass of people about him, he gave an order to go to the other side. |
Matthew 8:19 | when a Scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go." | And a scribe came up and said to him, Teacher, I will follow thee whithersoever thou mayest go. | And there came a scribe and said to him, Master, I will come after you wherever you go. |
Matthew 8:20 | "Foxes have holes," replied Jesus, "and birds have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." | And Jesus says to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven roosting-places; but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head. | And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have a resting-place; but the Son of man has nowhere to put his head. |
Matthew 8:21 | Another of the disciples said to Him, "Sir, allow me first to go and bury my father." | But another of his disciples said to him, Lord, suffer me first to go away and bury my father. | And another of the disciples said to him, Lord, let me first go and give the last honours to my father. |
Matthew 8:22 | "Follow me," said Jesus, "and leave the dead to bury their own dead." | But Jesus said to him, Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead. | But Jesus said to him, Come after me; and let the dead take care of their dead. |
Matthew 8:23 | Then He went on board a fishing-boat, and His disciples followed Him. | And he went on board ship and his disciples followed him; | And when he had got into a boat, his disciples went after him. |
Matthew 8:24 | But suddenly there arose a great storm on the Lake, so that the waves threatened to engulf the boat; but He was asleep. | and behold, [the water] became very agitated on the sea, so that the ship was covered by the waves; but *he* slept. | And there came up a great storm in the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was sleeping. |
Matthew 8:25 | So they came and woke Him, crying, "Master, save us, we are drowning!" | And the disciples came and awoke him, saying, Lord save: we perish. | And they came to him, and, awaking him, said, Help, Lord; destruction is near. |
Matthew 8:26 | "Why are you so easily frightened," He replied, "you men of little faith?" Then He rose and reproved the winds and the waves, and there was a perfect calm; | And he says to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then, having arisen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. | And he said to them, Why are you full of fear, O you of little faith? Then he got up and gave orders to the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. |
Matthew 8:27 | and the men, filled with amazement, exclaimed, "What kind of man is this? for the very winds and waves obey him!" | But the men were astonished, saying, What sort [of man] is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? | And the men were full of wonder, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea do his orders? |
Matthew 8:28 | On His arrival at the other side, in the country of the Gadarenes, there met Him two men possessed by demons, coming from among the tombs: they were so dangerously fierce that no one was able to pass that way. | And there met him, when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, two possessed by demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding dangerous, so that no one was able to pass by that way. | And when he had come to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, there came out to him from the place of the dead, two who had evil spirits, so violent that no man was able to go that way. |
Matthew 8:29 | They cried aloud, "What hast Thou to do with us, Thou Son of God? Hast Thou come here to torment us before the time?" | And behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Son of God? hast thou come here before the time to torment us? | And they gave a loud cry, saying, What have we to do with you, you Son of God? Have you come here to give us punishment before the time? |
Matthew 8:30 | Now at some distance from them a vast herd of swine were feeding. | Now there was, a great way off from them, a herd of many swine feeding; | Now there was, some distance away, a great herd of pigs taking their food. |
Matthew 8:31 | So the demons entreated Him. "If Thou drivest us out," they said, "send us into the herd of swine." | and the demons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine. | And the evil spirits made strong prayers to him, saying, If you send us out, let us go into the herd of pigs. |
Matthew 8:32 | "Go," He replied. Then they came out from the men and went into the swine, whereupon the entire herd instantly rushed down the cliff into the Lake and perished in the water. | And he said to them, Go. And they, going out, departed into the herd of swine; and lo, the whole herd [of swine] rushed down the steep slope into the sea, and died in the waters. | And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea and came to their end in the water. |
Matthew 8:33 | The swineherds fled, and went and told the whole story in the town, including what had happened to the demoniacs. | But they that fed them fled, and went away into the city and related everything, and what had happened as to those possessed by demons. | And their keepers went in flight to the town and gave an account of everything, and of the men who had the evil spirits. |
Matthew 8:34 | So at once the whole population came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they besought Him to leave their country. | And behold, the whole city went out to meet Jesus; and when they saw him, they begged [him] to go away out of their coasts. | And all the town came out to Jesus; and seeing him they made request that he would go away from their part of the country. |
