Matthew 9:2Here they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, my child; your sins are pardoned."And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven. And they took to him a man stretched on a bed who had no power of moving; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man who was ill, Son, take heart; you have forgiveness for your sins.
Matthew 9:3"Such language is impious," said some of the Scribes among themselves. And behold, certain of the scribes said to themselves, This [man] blasphemes. And some of the scribes said among themselves, This man has no respect for God.
Matthew 9:4Knowing their thoughts Jesus said, "Why are you cherishing evil thoughts in your hearts? And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do *ye* think evil things in your hearts? And Jesus, having knowledge of what was in their minds, said, Why are your thoughts evil?
Matthew 9:5Why, which is easier? to say, `Your sins are pardoned,' or to say `Rise up and walk'?For which is easier: to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Rise up and walk? For which is the simpler, to say, You have forgiveness for your sins; or to say, Get up and go?
Matthew 9:6But, to prove to you that the Son of Man has authority on earth to pardon sins" He then says to the paralytic, "Rise, and take up your bed and go home."But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic,) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house. But so that you may see that on earth the Son of man has authority for the forgiveness of sins, (then said he to the man who was ill,) Get up, and take up your bed, and go to your house.
Matthew 9:7And he got up, and went off home. And he rose up and went to his house. And he got up and went away to his house.
Matthew 9:8And the crowds were awe-struck when they saw it, and ascribed the glory to God who had entrusted such power to a man.But the crowds seeing [it], were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.But when the people saw it they were full of fear, and gave glory to God who had given such authority to men.
Matthew 9:9Passing on thence Jesus saw a man called Matthew sitting at the Toll Office, and said to him, "Follow me." And he arose, and followed Him.And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.And when Jesus was going from there, he saw a man whose name was Matthew, seated at the place where taxes were taken; and he said to him, Come after me. And he got up and went after him.
Matthew 9:10And while He was reclining at table, a large number of tax-gathers and notorious sinners were of the party with Jesus and His disciples. And it came to pass, as he lay at table in the house, that behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and lay at table with Jesus and his disciples. And it came about, when he was in the house taking food, that a number of tax-farmers and sinners came and took their places with Jesus and his disciples.
Matthew 9:11The Pharisees noticed this, and they inquired of His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with the tax-gatherers and notorious sinners?"And the Pharisees seeing [it], said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners? And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your Master take food with tax-farmers and sinners?
Matthew 9:12He heard the question and replied, "It is not men in good health who require a doctor, but the sick. But [Jesus] hearing it, said, They that are strong have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.But on hearing this he said, Those who are well have no need of a medical man, but those who are ill.
Matthew 9:13But go and learn what this means, `It is mercy that I desire, not sacrifice'; for I did not come to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners."But go and learn what [that] is I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous [men] but sinners. But go and take to heart the sense of these words, My desire is for mercy, not offerings: for I have come not to get the upright, but sinners.
Matthew 9:14At that time John's disciples came and asked Jesus, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not?"Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but thy disciples fast not? Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees frequently go without food, but your disciples do not?
Matthew 9:15"Can the bridegroom's party mourn," He replied, "as long as the bridegroom is with them? But other days will come (when the Bridegroom has been taken from them) and then they will fast. And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast. And Jesus said to them, Will the friends of the newly-married man be sad as long as he is with them? But the days will come when he will be taken away from them, and then will they go without food.
Matthew 9:16No one ever mends an old cloak with a patch of newly woven cloth. Otherwise, the patch put on would tear away some of the old, and a worse hole would be made. But no one puts a patch of new cloth on an old garment, for its filling up takes from the garment and a worse rent takes place. And no man puts a bit of new cloth on an old coat, for by pulling away from the old, it makes a worse hole.
Matthew 9:17Nor do people pour new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins would split, the wine would escape, and the skins be destroyed. But they put new wine into fresh skins, and both are saved."Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together. And men do not put new wine into old wine-skins; or the skins will be burst and the wine will come out, and the skins are of no more use: but they put new wine into new wine-skins, and so the two will be safe.
Matthew 9:18While He was thus speaking, a Ruler came up and profoundly bowing said, "My daughter is just dead; but come and put your hand upon her and she will return to life."As he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler coming in did homage to him, saying, My daughter has by this died; but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live. While he was saying these things to them, there came a ruler and gave him worship, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and put your hand on her, and she will come back to life.

Matthew 9:21for she said to herself, "If I but touch His cloak, I shall be cured."for she said within herself, If I should only touch his garment I shall be healed.Because, she said to herself, if I may but put my hand on his robe, I will be made well.
Matthew 9:22And Jesus turned and saw her, and said, "Take courage, daughter; your faith has cured you." And the woman was restored to health from that moment. But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour. But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, Daughter, take heart; your faith has made you well. And the woman was made well from that hour.

Matthew 9:25When however the place was cleared of the crowd, Jesus went in, and on His taking the little girl by the hand, she rose up.But when the crowd had been put out, he went in and took her hand; and the damsel rose up.But when the people were sent out, he went in and took her by the hand; and the girl got up.
Matthew 9:26And the report of this spread throughout all that district. And the fame of it went out into all that land. And the news of it went out into all that land.

Matthew 9:28And when He had gone indoors, they came to Him. "Do you believe that I can do this?" He asked them. "Yes, Sir," they replied. And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord. And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus said to them, Have you faith that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord.

And Jesus said to them sharply, Let no man have knowledge of it.

Matthew 9:33When the demon was expelled, the dumb man could speak. And the crowds exclaimed in astonishment, "Never was such a thing seen in Israel."And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake. And the crowds were astonished, saying, It has never been seen thus in Israel. And when the evil spirit had been sent out, the man had the power of talking: and they were all surprised, saying, Such a thing has never been seen in Israel.
