1st-Peter 1:1Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ: To God's own people scattered over the earth, who are living as foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,Peter, apostle of Jesus Christ, to [the] sojourners of [the] dispersion of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers dispersed through Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect,
1st-Peter 1:2chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, with a view to their obedience and to their being sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May more and more grace and peace be granted to you.elect according to [the] foreknowledge of God [the] Father, by sanctification of [the] Spirit, unto [the] obedience and sprinkling of [the] blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, unto the sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you and peace be multiplied.
1st-Peter 1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His great mercy has begotten us anew to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has begotten us again to a living hope through [the] resurrection of Jesus Christ from among [the] dead,Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy hath regenerated us unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1st-Peter 1:4to an inheritance imperishable, undefiled and unfading, which has been reserved in Heaven for you,to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance, reserved in [the] heavens for you,Unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that can not fade, reserved in heaven for you,
1st-Peter 1:5whom God in His power is guarding through faith for a salvation that even now stands ready for unveiling at the End of the Age.who are kept guarded by [the] power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in [the] last time.Who, by the power of God, are kept by faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.
1st-Peter 1:6Rejoice triumphantly in the prospect of this, even if now, for a short time, you are compelled to sorrow amid various trials.Wherein ye exult, for a little while at present, if needed, put to grief by various trials,Wherein you shall greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations:
1st-Peter 1:7The sorrow comes in order that the testing of your faith being more precious than that of gold, which perishes and yet is proved by fire may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.that the proving of your faith, much more precious than of gold which perishes, though it be proved by fire, be found to praise and glory and honour in [the] revelation of Jesus Christ:That the trial of your faith (much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire) may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1st-Peter 1:8Him you love, though your eyes have never looked on Him. In Him, though at present you cannot see Him, you nevertheless trust, and triumph with a joy which is unspeakable and is crowned with glory,whom, having not seen, ye love; on whom [though] not now looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with [the] glory,Whom having not seen, you love: in whom also now, though you see him not, you believe: and believing shall rejoice with joy unspeakable and glorified;
1st-Peter 1:9while you are securing as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.receiving the end of your faith, [the] salvation of [your] souls.Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
1st-Peter 1:10There were Prophets who earnestly inquired about that salvation, and closely searched into it even those who spoke beforehand of the grace which was to come to you.Concerning which salvation prophets, who have prophesied of the grace towards you, sought out and searched out;Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and diligently searched, who prophesied of the grace to come in you.
1st-Peter 1:11They were eager to know the time which the Spirit of Christ within them kept indicating, or the characteristics of that time, when they solemnly made known beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ and the glories which would follow.searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ which [was] in them pointed out, testifying before of the sufferings which [belonged] to Christ, and the glories after these.Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did signify: when it foretold those sufferings that are in Christ, and the glories that should follow:
1st-Peter 1:12To them it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you, when they foretold the very things which have now been openly declared to you by those who, having been taught by the Holy Spirit which had been sent from Heaven, brought you the Good News. Angels long to stoop and look into these things. To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves but to you they ministered those things, which have now been announced to you by those who have declared to you the glad tidings by [the] Holy Spirit, sent from heaven, which angels desire to look into.To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you they ministered those things which are now declared to you by them that have preached the gospel to you, the Holy Ghost being sent down from heaven, on whom the angels desire to look.
1st-Peter 1:13Therefore gird up your minds and fix your hopes calmly and unfalteringly upon the boon that is soon to be yours, at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.Wherefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, [be] sober [and] hope with perfect stedfastness in the grace [which will be] brought to you at [the] revelation of Jesus Christ;Wherefore having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ,
1st-Peter 1:14And, since you delight in obedience, do not shape your lives by the cravings which used to dominate you in the time of your ignorance,as children of obedience, not conformed to [your] former lusts in your ignorance; As children of obedience, not fashioned according to the former desires of your ignorance:
1st-Peter 1:15but in imitation of the holy One who has called you you also must be holy in all your habits of life.but as he who has called you is holy, be ye also holy in all [your] conversation; But according to him that hath called you, who is holy, be you also in all manner of conversation holy:
1st-Peter 1:16Because it stands written, "You are to be holy, because I am holy."because it is written, Be ye holy, for *I* am holy.Because it is written: You shall be holy, for I am holy.
1st-Peter 1:17And if you address as your Father Him who judges impartially in accordance with each man's actions, then spend in fear the time of your stay here on earth,And if ye invoke as Father him who, without regard of persons, judges according to the work of each, pass your time of sojourn in fear,And if you invoke as Father him who, without respect of persons, judgeth according to every one's work: converse in fear during the time of your sojourning here.
1st-Peter 1:18knowing, as you do, that it was not with a ransom of perishable wealth, such as silver or gold, that you were set free from your frivolous habits of life which had been handed down to you from your forefathers, knowing that ye have been redeemed, not by corruptible [things, as] silver or gold, from your vain conversation handed down from [your] fathers,Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as gold or silver, from your vain conversation of the tradition of your fathers:
1st-Peter 1:19but with the precious blood of Christ as of an unblemished and spotless lamb.but by precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, [the blood] of Christ,But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb unspotted and undefiled,
1st-Peter 1:20He was pre-destined indeed to this work, even before the creation of the world, but has been plainly manifested in these last days for the sake of you who, through Him,foreknown indeed before [the] foundation of [the] world, but who has been manifested at the end of times for your sakes,Foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but manifested in the last times for you,
1st-Peter 1:21are faithful to God, who raised Him from among the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are resting upon God.who by him do believe on God, who has raised him from among [the] dead and given him glory, that your faith and hope should be in God.Who through him are faithful in God, who raised him up from the dead, and hath given him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
1st-Peter 1:22Now that, through your obedience to the truth, you have purified your souls for cherishing sincere brotherly love, you must love another heartily and fervently.Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;Purifying your souls in the obedience of charity, with a brotherly love, from a sincere heart love one another earnestly:
1st-Peter 1:23For you have been begotten again by God's ever-living and enduring word from a germ not of perishable, but of imperishable life.being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by [the] living and abiding word of God.Being born again not of corruptible seed, but incorruptible, by the word of God who liveth and remaineth for ever.
1st-Peter 1:24"All mankind resemble the herbage, and all their beauty is like its flowers. The herbage dries up, and its flowers drop off;Because all flesh [is] as grass, and all its glory as [the] flower of grass. The grass has withered and [its] flower has fallen; For all flesh is as grass; and all the glory thereof as the flower of grass. The grass is withered, and the flower thereof is fallen away.
1st-Peter 1:25But the word of the Lord remains for ever." And that means the Message which has been proclaimed among you in the Good News.but the word of [the] Lord abides for eternity. But this is the word which in the glad tidings [is] preached to you.But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel hath been preached unto you.
