Hebrews 4:1Therefore let us be on our guard lest perhaps, while He still leaves us a promise of being admitted to His rest, some one of you should be found to have fallen short of it.Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you might seem to have failed [of it].Let us fear therefore lest the promise being left of entering into his rest, any of you should be thought to be wanting.
Hebrews 4:2For Good News has been brought to us as truly as to them; but the message they heard failed to benefit them, because they were not one in faith with those who gave heed to it.For indeed we have had glad tidings presented to us, even as they also; but the word of the report did not profit *them*, not being mixed with faith in those who heard. For unto us also it hath been declared, in like manner as unto them. But the word of hearing did not profit them, not being mixed with faith of those things they heard.
Hebrews 4:3We who have believed are soon to be admitted to the true rest; as He has said, "As I swore in My anger, they shall not be admitted to My rest," although God's works had been going on ever since the creation of the world. For we enter into the rest who have believed; as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest; although the works had been completed from [the] foundation of [the] world. For we, who have believed, shall enter into rest; as he said: As I have sworn in my wrath; If they shall enter into my rest; and this indeed when the works from the foundation of the world were finished.
Hebrews 4:4For, as we know, when speaking of the seventh day He has used the words, "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works;"For he has said somewhere of the seventh [day] thus, And God rested on the seventh day from all his works:For in a certain place he spoke of the seventh day thus: And God rested the seventh day from all his works.
Hebrews 4:5and He has also declared, "They shall not be admitted to My rest."and in this again, If they shall enter into my rest. And in this place again: If they shall enter into my rest.
Hebrews 4:6Since, then, it is still true that some will be admitted to that rest, and that because of disobedience those who formerly had Good News proclaimed to them were not admitted,Seeing therefore it remains that some enter into it, and those who first received the glad tidings did not enter in on account of not hearkening to the word,Seeing then it remaineth that some are to enter into it, and they, to whom it was first preached, did not enter because of unbelief:
Hebrews 4:7He again definitely mentions a certain day, "To-day," saying long afterwards, by David's lips, in the words already quoted, "To-day, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts."again he determines a certain day, saying, in David, 'To-day,' after so long a time; (according as it has been said before), To-day, if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.Again he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time, as it is above said: To day if you shall hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Hebrews 4:8For if Joshua had given them the true rest, we should not afterwards hear God speaking of another still future day.For if Jesus had brought them into rest, he would not have spoken afterwards about another day.For if Jesus had given them rest, he would never have afterwards spoken of another day.
Hebrews 4:9It follows that there still remains a sabbath rest for the people of God.There remains then a sabbatism to the people of God.There remaineth therefore a day of rest for the people of God.
Hebrews 4:10For He who has been admitted to His rest, has rested from His works as God did from His.For he that has entered into his rest, he also has rested from his works, as God did from his own.For he that is entered into his rest, the same also hath rested from his works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11Let it then be our earnest endeavour to be admitted to that rest, so that no one may perish through following the same example of unbelief.Let us therefore use diligence to enter into that rest, that no one may fall after the same example of not hearkening to the word.Let us hasten therefore to enter into that rest; lest any man fall into the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:12For God's Message is full of life and power, and is keener than the sharpest two-edged sword. It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit, and penetrates between the joints and the marrow, and it can discern the secret thoughts and purposes of the heart. For the word of God [is] living and operative, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and penetrating to [the] division of soul and spirit, both of joints and marrow, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of [the] heart. For the word of God is living and effectual, and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:13And no created thing is able to escape its scrutiny; but everything lies bare and completely exposed before the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.And there is not a creature unapparent before him; but all things [are] naked and laid bare to his eyes, with whom we have to do.Neither is there any creature invisible in his sight: but all things are naked and open to his eyes, to whom our speech is.
Hebrews 4:14Inasmuch, then, as we have in Jesus, the Son of God, a great High Priest who has passed into Heaven itself, let us hold firmly to our profession of faith.Having therefore a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast the confession.Having therefore a great high priest that hath passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God: let us hold fast our confession.
Hebrews 4:15For we have not a High Priest who is unable to feel for us in our weaknesses, but one who was tempted in every respect just as we are tempted, and yet did not sin.For we have not a high priest not able to sympathise with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart. For we have not a high priest, who can not have compassion on our infirmities: but one tempted in all things like as we are, without sin.
Hebrews 4:16Therefore let us come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our times of need.Let us approach therefore with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and find grace for seasonable help.Let us go therefore with confidence to the throne of grace: that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in seasonable aid.
