| John 3:1 | Now there was one of the Pharisees whose name was Nicodemus a ruler among the Jews. | But there was a man from among the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; | And there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. |
| John 3:2 | He came to Jesus by night and said, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher from God; for no one can do these miracles which you are doing, unless God is with him. | he came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God, for none can do these signs that thou doest unless God be with him. | This man came to Jesus by night, and said to him: Rabbi, we know that thou art come a teacher from God; for no man can do these signs which thou dost, unless God be with him. |

Therefore this joy of mine is now complete. | He that has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices in heart because of the voice of the bridegroom: this my joy then is fulfilled. | He that hath the bride, is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with joy because of the bridegroom's voice. This my joy therefore is fulfilled. |
