Matthew 11:1When Jesus had concluded His instructions to His twelve disciples, He left in order to teach and to proclaim His Message in the neighbouring towns.And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and preach in their cities.And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he passed from thence, to teach and preach in their cities.
Matthew 11:2Now John had heard in prison about the Christ's doings, and he sent some of his disciples to inquire:But John, having heard in the prison the works of the Christ, sent by his disciples,Now when John had heard in prison the works of Christ: sending two of his disciples he said to him:
Matthew 11:3"Are you the Coming One, or is it a different person that we are to expect?"and said to him, Art *thou* the coming [one]? or are we to wait for another?Art thou he that art to come, or look we for another?
Matthew 11:4"Go and report to John what you see and hear," replied Jesus;And Jesus answering said to them, Go, report to John what ye hear and see.And Jesus making answer said to them: Go and relate to John what you have heard and seen.
Matthew 11:5"blind eyes receive sight, and cripples walk; lepers are cleansed, and deaf ears hear; the dead are raised to life, and the poor have the Good News proclaimed to them;Blind [men] see and lame walk; lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear; and dead are raised, and poor have glad tidings preached to them:The blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead rise again, the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Matthew 11:6and blessed is every one who does not stumble and fall because of my claims."and blessed is whosoever shall not be offended in me.And blessed is he that shall not be scandalized in me.
Matthew 11:7When the messengers had taken their leave, Jesus proceeded to say to the multitude concerning John, "What did you go out into the Desert to gaze at? A reed waving in the wind?But as they went [away], Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed moved about by the wind?And when they went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: What went you out into the desert to see? a reed shaken with the wind?
Matthew 11:8But what did you go out to see? A man luxuriously dressed? Those who wear luxurious clothes are to be found in kings' palaces.But what went ye out to see? a man clothed in delicate raiment? behold, those who wear delicate things are in the houses of kings.But what went you out to see? a man clothed in soft garments? Behold they that are clothed in soft garments, are in the houses of kings.
Matthew 11:9But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and far more than a prophet.But what went ye out to see? a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and more than a prophet:But what went you out to see? a prophet? yea I tell you, and more than a prophet.
Matthew 11:10This is he of whom it is written, "`See I am sending My messenger before Thy face, and he will make Thy road ready before Thee.'this is he of whom it is written, Behold, *I* send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.For this is he of whom it is written: Behold I send my angel before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee.
Matthew 11:11"I solemnly tell you that among all of woman born no greater has ever been raised up than John the Baptist; yet one who is of lower rank in the Kingdom of the Heavens is greater than he.Verily I say to you, that there is not arisen among [the] born of women a greater than John the baptist. But he who is a little one in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.Amen I say to you, there hath not risen among them that are born of women a greater than John the Baptist: yet he that is the lesser in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Matthew 11:12But from the time of John the Baptist till now, the Kingdom of the Heavens has been suffering violent assault, and the violent have been seizing it by force.But from the days of John the baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence, and [the] violent seize on it.And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away.
Matthew 11:13For all the Prophets and the Law taught until John.For all the prophets and the law have prophesied unto John.For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John:
Matthew 11:14And (if you are willing to receive it) he is the Elijah who was to come.And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, who is to come.And if you will receive it, he is Elias that is to come.
Matthew 11:15Listen, every one who has ears!He that has ears to hear, let him hear.He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 11:16"But to what shall I compare the present generation? It is like children sitting in the open places, who call to their playmates.But to whom shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the markets, which, calling to their companions,But whereunto shall I esteem this generation to be like? It is like to children sitting in the market place.
Matthew 11:17"`We have played the flute to you,' they say, `and you have not danced: we have sung dirges, and you have not beaten your breasts.'say, We have piped to you, and ye have not danced: we have mourned to you, and ye have not wailed.Who crying to their companions say: We have piped to you, and you have not danced: we have lamented, and you have not mourned.
Matthew 11:18"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, `He has a demon.'For John has come neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon.For John came neither eating nor drinking; and they say: He hath a devil.
Matthew 11:19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they exclaim, `See this man! given to gluttony and tippling, and a friend of tax-gatherers and notorious sinners!' And yet Wisdom is vindicated by her actions."The Son of man has come eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man [that is] eating and wine-drinking, a friend of tax-gatherers, and of sinners: and wisdom has been justified by her children.The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say: Behold a man that is a glutton and a wine drinker, a friend of publicans and sinners. And wisdom is justified by her children.
Matthew 11:20Then began He to upbraid the towns where most of His mighty works had been done because they had not repented.Then began he to reproach the cities in which most of his works of power had taken place, because they had not repented.Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein were done the most of his miracles, for that they had not done penance.
Matthew 11:21"Alas for thee, Chorazin!" He cried. "Alas for thee, Bethsaida! For had the mighty works been done in Tyre and Sidon which have been done in both of you, they would long ere now have repented, covered with sackcloth and ashes.Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee Bethsaida! for if the works of power which have taken place in you, had taken place in Tyre and Sidon, they had long ago repented in sackcloth and ashes.Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida: for if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in you, they had long ago done penance in sackcloth and ashes.
Matthew 11:22Only I tell you that it will be more endurable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of Judgement than for you.But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in judgment-day than for you.But I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment, than for you.
Matthew 11:23And thou, Capernaum, shalt thou be exalted even to Heaven? Even to Hades shalt thou descend. For had the mighty works been done in Sodom which have been done in thee, it would have remained until now.And *thou*, Capernaum, who hast been raised up to heaven, shalt be brought down even to hades. For if the works of power which have taken place in thee, had taken place in Sodom, it had remained until this day.And thou Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted up to heaven? thou shalt go down even unto hell. For if in Sodom had been wrought the miracles that have been wrought in thee, perhaps it had remained unto this day.
Matthew 11:24Only I tell you all, that it will be more endurable for the land of Sodom on the day of Judgement than for thee."But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable for [the] land of Sodom in judgment-day than for thee.But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
Matthew 11:25About that time Jesus exclaimed, "I heartily praise Thee, Father, Lord of Heaven and of earth, that Thou hast hidden these things from sages and men of discernment, and hast unveiled them to babes.At that time, Jesus answering said, I praise thee, Father, Lord of the heaven and of the earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes.At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones.
Matthew 11:26Yes, Father, for such has been Thy gracious will.Yea, Father, for thus has it been well-pleasing in thy sight.Yea, Father; for so hath it seemed good in thy sight.
Matthew 11:27"All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son except the Father, nor does any one fully know the Father except the Son and all to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son but the Father, nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son may be pleased to reveal [him].All things are delivered to me by my Father. And no one knoweth the Son, but the Father: neither doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal him.
Matthew 11:28"Come to me, all you toiling and burdened ones, and *I* will give you rest.Come to me, all ye who labour and are burdened, and *I* will give you rest.Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.
Matthew 11:29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest to your souls;Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
Matthew 11:30For it is good to bear my yoke, and my burden is light."for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.For my yoke is sweet and my burden light.
