1st-Peter 4:1Since, then, Christ has suffered in the flesh, you also must arm yourselves with a determination to do the same because he who has suffered in the flesh has done with sinChrist, then, having suffered for us in [the] flesh, do *ye* also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in [the] flesh has done with sin,Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1st-Peter 4:2that in future you may spend the rest of your earthly lives, governed not by human passions, but by the will of God.no longer to live the rest of [his] time in [the] flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1st-Peter 4:3For you have given time enough in the past to the doing of the things which the Gentiles delight in pursuing, as you did, a course of habitual licence, debauchery, hard drinking, noisy revelry, drunkenness and unholy image-worship.For the time past [is] sufficient [for us] to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
1st-Peter 4:4At this they are astonished that you do not run into the same excess of profligacy as they do; and they speak abusively of you.Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously [of you];In which they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
1st-Peter 4:5But they will have to give account to Him who stands ready to pronounce judgement on the living and the dead.who shall render account to him who is ready to judge [the] living and [the] dead.Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.
1st-Peter 4:6For it is with this end in view that the Good News was proclaimed even to some who were dead, that they may be judged, as all mankind will be judged, in the body, but may be living a godly life in the spirit.For to this [end] were the glad tidings preached to [the] dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after [the] flesh, but live, as regards God, after [the] Spirit.For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
1st-Peter 4:7But the end of all things is now close at hand: therefore be sober-minded and temperate, so that you may give yourselves to prayer.But the end of all things is drawn nigh: be sober therefore, and be watchful unto prayers;But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch to prayer.
1st-Peter 4:8Above all continue to love one another fervently, for love throws a veil over a multitude of faults.but before all things having fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins;And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity will cover a multitude of sins.
1st-Peter 4:9Extend ungrudging hospitality towards one another.hospitable one to another, without murmuring;Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
1st-Peter 4:10Whatever be the gifts which each has received, you must use them for one another's benefit, as good stewards of God's many-sided kindness.each according as he has received a gift, ministering it to one another, as good stewards of [the] various grace of God.As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1st-Peter 4:11If any one preaches, let it be as uttering God's truth; if any one renders a service to others, let it be in the strength which God supplies; so that in everything glory may be given to God in the name of Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the might to the Ages of the Ages. Amen.If any one speak as oracles of God; if any one minister as of strength which God supplies; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the might for the ages of ages. Amen.If any man speaketh let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man ministereth let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1st-Peter 4:12Dear friends, do not be surprised at finding that that scorching flame of persecution is raging among you to put you to the test as though some surprising thing were accidentally happening to you.Beloved, take not [as] strange the fire [of persecution] which has taken place amongst you for [your] trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you;Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:
1st-Peter 4:13On the contrary, in the degree that you share in the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice, so that at the unveiling of His glory you may also rejoice with triumphant gladness.but as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation.But rejoice, seeing ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
1st-Peter 4:14You are to be envied, if you are being reproached for bearing the name of Christ; for in that case the Spirit of glory even the Spirit of God is resting upon you.If ye are reproached in [the] name of Christ, blessed [are ye]; for the [Spirit] of glory and the Spirit of God rests upon you: [on their part he is blasphemed, but on your part he is glorified.]If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you. On their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
1st-Peter 4:15But let not one of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evil-doer, or as a spy upon other people's business.Let none of you suffer indeed as murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or as overseer of other people's matters;But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as a busy-body in other men's matters.
1st-Peter 4:16If, however, any one suffers because he is a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God for being permitted to bear that name.but if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name.Yet if any man suffereth as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
1st-Peter 4:17For the time has come for judgement to begin, and to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who reject God's Good News?For the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God [is come]; but if first from us, what [shall be] the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first beginneth at us, what will be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1st-Peter 4:18And if it is difficult even for a righteous man to be saved, what will become of irreligious men and sinners?And if the righteous is difficultly saved, where shall the impious and [the] sinner appear?And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1st-Peter 4:19Therefore also, let those who are suffering in accordance with the will of God entrust their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.Wherefore also let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.Wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as to a faithful Creator.
