Luke 23:2"We have found this man," they said, "an agitator among our nation, forbidding the payment of tribute to Caesar, and claiming to be himself an anointed king."And they began to accuse him, saying, We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ, a king. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, saying, that he himself is Christ a king.
Luke 23:3Then Pilate asked Him, "You, then, are the King of the Jews?" "It is as you say," He replied. And Pilate demanded of him saying, Art *thou* the king of the Jews? And he answering him said, Thou sayest. And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
Luke 23:4Pilate said to the High Priests and to the crowd, "I can find no crime in this man."And Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man. Then said Pilate to the chief priests, and to the people, I find no fault in this man.
Luke 23:5But they violently insisted. "He stirs up the people," they said, "throughout all Judaea with His teaching even from Galilee (where He first started) to this city."But they insisted, saying, He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee even on to here. And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.
Luke 23:6On hearing this, Pilate inquired, "Is this man a Galilaean?"But Pilate, having heard Galilee [named], demanded if the man were a Galilaean; When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man was a Galilean.
Luke 23:7And learning that He belonged to Herod's jurisdiction he sent Him to Herod, for he too was in Jerusalem at that time.and having learned that he was of Herod's jurisdiction, remitted him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem in those days. And as soon as he knew that he belonged to Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also at Jerusalem at that time.
Luke 23:8To Herod the sight of Jesus was a great gratification, for, for a long time, he had been wanting to see Him, because he had heard so much about Him. He hoped also to see some miracle performed by Him.And when Herod saw Jesus he greatly rejoiced, for he had been a long while desirous of seeing him, because of hearing many things concerning him, and he hoped to see some sign done by him;And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he had been for a long time, desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.
Luke 23:9So he put a number of questions to Him, but Jesus gave him no reply.and he questioned him in many words, but *he* answered him nothing. Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
Luke 23:10Meanwhile the High Priests and the Scribes were standing there and vehemently accusing Him.And the chief priests and the scribes stood and accused him violently. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.
Luke 23:11Then, laughing to scorn the claims of Jesus, Herod (and his soldiers with him) made sport of Him, dressed Him in a gorgeous costume, and sent Him back to Pilate. And Herod with his troops having set him at nought and mocked him, having put a splendid robe upon him, sent him back to Pilate. And Herod with his troops set him at naught, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
Luke 23:12And on that very day Herod and Pilate became friends again, for they had been for some time at enmity. And Pilate and Herod became friends with one another the same day, for they had been at enmity before between themselves. And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together; for before they were at enmity between themselves.
Luke 23:13Then calling together the High Priests and the Rulers and the people, Pilate said,And Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,
Luke 23:14"You have brought this man to me on a charge of corrupting the loyalty of the people. But, you see, I have examined him in your presence and have discovered in the man no ground for the accusations which you bring against him.said to them, Ye have brought to me this man as turning away the people [to rebellion], and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found nothing criminal in this man as to the things of which ye accuse him;Said to them, Ye have brought this man to me, as one that perverteth the people: and behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man, touching those things of which ye accuse him;
Luke 23:15No, nor does Herod; for he has sent him back to us; and, you see, there is nothing he has done that deserves death.nor Herod either, for I remitted you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done by him.No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and lo, nothing worthy of death is done to him:
Luke 23:16I will therefore give him a light punishment and release him."Having chastised him therefore, I will release him.I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
Luke 23:17[]( Now he was obliged to release one for them at the feast.)(For of necessity he must release one to them at the feast.)
Luke 23:18Then the whole multitude burst out into a shout. "Away with this man," they said, "and release Barabbas to us"But they cried out in a mass saying, Away with this [man] and release Barabbas to us;And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas:

Luke 23:20But Pilate once more addressed them, wishing to set Jesus free.Pilate therefore, desirous to release Jesus, again addressed [them].Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spoke again to them.
Luke 23:21They, however, persistently shouted, "Crucify, crucify him!"But they cried out in reply saying, Crucify, crucify him.But they cried, saying, Crucify, crucify him.
Luke 23:22A third time he appealed to them: "Why, what crime has the man committed? I have discovered in him nothing that deserves death. I will therefore give him a light punishment and release him."And he said the third time to them, What evil then has this [man] done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will chastise him therefore and release him.And he said to them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him; I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.
Luke 23:23But they urgently insisted, demanding with frantic outcries that He should be crucified; and their clamour prevailed. But they were urgent with loud voices, begging that he might be crucified. And their voices [and those of the chief priests] prevailed. And they were urgent with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified: and the voices of them, and of the chief priests prevailed.

Luke 23:35and the people stood looking on. The Rulers, too, repeatedly uttered their bitter taunts. "This fellow," they said, "saved others: let him save himself, if he is God's Anointed, the Chosen One."And the people stood beholding, and the rulers also [with them] sneered, saying, He has saved others; let him save himself if this is the Christ, the chosen one of God.And the people stood beholding.
