John 1:1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.In [the] beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:2He was in the beginning with God.*He* was in the beginning with God.The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:3All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing that exists came into being. All things received being through him, and without him not one [thing] received being which has received being. All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made.
John 1:4In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men.In him was life, and the life was the light of men.In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered it.And the light appears in darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome it.
John 1:6There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. There was a man sent from God, his name John. There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:7He came as a witness, in order that he might give testimony concerning the Light so that all might believe through him.He came for witness, that he might witness concerning the light, that all might believe through him.The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him.
John 1:8He was not the Light, but he existed that he might give testimony concerning the Light.*He* was not the light, but that he might witness concerning the light. He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light.
John 1:9The true Light was that which illumines every man by its coming into the world. The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man.The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.
John 1:10He was in the world, and the world came into existence through Him, and the world did not recognize Him.He was in the world, and the world had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not.He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn't recognize him.
John 1:11He came to the things that were His own, and His own people gave Him no welcome. He came to his own, and his own received him not;He came to his own, and those who were his own didn't receive him.
John 1:12But all who have received Him, to them that is, to those who trust in His name He has given the privilege of becoming children of God;but as many as received him, to them gave he [the] right to be children of God, to those that believe on his name; But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God's children, to those who believe in his name:
John 1:13who were begotten as such not by human descent, nor through an impulse of their own nature, nor through the will of a human father, but from God.who have been born, not of blood, nor of flesh's will, nor of man's will, but of God.who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:14And the Word came in the flesh, and lived for a time in our midst, so that we saw His glory the glory as of the Father's only Son, sent from His presence. He was full of grace and truth. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we have contemplated his glory, a glory as of an only-begotten with a father), full of grace and truth; The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:15John gave testimony concerning Him and cried aloud, saying, "This is He of whom I said, `He who is coming after me has been put before me,' for He was before me."(John bears witness of him, and he has cried, saying, This was he of whom I said, He that comes after me is preferred before me, for he was before me;)John testified about him. He cried out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.'"
John 1:16For He it is from whose fulness we have all received, and grace upon grace.for of his fulness we all have received, and grace upon grace. From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.
John 1:17For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. For the law was given by Moses: grace and truth subsists through Jesus Christ. For the law was given through Moses. Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:18No human eye has ever seen God: the only Son, who is in the Father's bosom He has made Him known. No one has seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, *he* hath declared [him].No one has seen God at any time. The only conceived Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him.
John 1:19This also is John's testimony, when the Jews sent to him a deputation of Priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him who he was.And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites that they might ask him, Thou, who art thou? This is John's testimony, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who are you?"
John 1:20He avowed he did not conceal the truth, but avowed, "I am not the Christ."And he acknowledged and denied not, and acknowledged, I am not the Christ. He confessed, and didn't deny, but he confessed, "I am not the Christ."
John 1:21"What then?" they inquired; "are you Elijah?" "I am not," he said. "Are you the Prophet?" "No," he answered. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he says, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No.They asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the prophet?" He answered, "No."
John 1:22So they pressed the question. "Who are you?" they said "that we may take an answer to those who sent us. What account do you give of yourself?"They said therefore to him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to those who sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? They said therefore to him, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"
John 1:23"I am the voice," he replied, "of one crying aloud, `Make straight the Lord's way in the Desert,' fulfilling the words of the Prophet Isaiah."He said, I [am] [the] voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the path of [the] Lord, as said Esaias the prophet. He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said."
John 1:24They were Pharisees who had been sent. And they were sent from among the Pharisees. The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees.
John 1:25Again they questioned him. "Why then do you baptize," they said, "if you are neither the Christ nor Elijah nor the Prophet?"And they asked him and said to him, Why baptisest thou then, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor the prophet? They asked him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"
John 1:26"I baptize in water only," John answered, "but in your midst stands One whom you do not knowJohn answered them saying, I baptise with water. In the midst of you stands, whom ye do not know,John answered them, "I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don't know,
John 1:27He who is to come after me, and whose sandal-strap I am not worthy to unfasten."he who comes after me, the thong of whose sandal I am not worthy to unloose.he who comes after me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to untie."

John 1:30This is He about whom I said, `After me is to come One who has been put before me, because He was before me.'He it is of whom I said, A man comes after me who takes a place before me, because he *was* before me;This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.'
John 1:31I did not yet know Him; but that He may be openly shown to Israel is the reason why I have come baptizing in water."and I knew him not; but that he might be manifested to Israel, therefore have I come baptising with water.I didn't know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel."
John 1:32John also gave testimony by stating: "I have seen the Spirit coming down like a dove out of Heaven; and it remained upon Him.And John bore witness, saying, I beheld the Spirit descending as a dove from heaven, and it abode upon him.John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.
John 1:33I did not yet know Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, "`The One on whom you see the Spirit coming down, and remaining, He it is who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'And I knew him not; but he who sent me to baptise with water, *he* said to me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on him, he it is who baptises with [the] Holy Spirit.I didn't recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water, he said to me, 'On whoever you will see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.'
John 1:34"This I have seen, and I have become a witness that He is the Son of God."And I have seen and borne witness that this is the Son of God.I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

John 1:37The two disciples heard his exclamation, and they followed Jesus. And the two disciples heard him speaking, and followed Jesus. The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
John 1:38Then Jesus turned round, and seeing them following He asked them, "What is your wish?" "Rabbi," they replied `Rabbi' means `Teacher' "where are you staying?"But Jesus having turned, and seeing them following, says to them, What seek ye? And *they* said to him, Rabbi (which, being interpreted, signifies Teacher), where abidest thou?Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, "What are you looking for?" They said to him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, being interpreted, Teacher), "where are you staying?"
John 1:39"Come and you shall see," He said. So they went and saw where He was staying, and they remained and spent that day with Him. It was then about ten o'clock in the morning. He says to them, Come and see. They went therefore, and saw where he abode; and they abode with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.He said to them, "Come, and see." They came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day. It was about the tenth hour.

(which is, being interpreted, Christ).
John 1:42He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon, son of John: you shall be called Cephas" that is to say, Peter (or `Rock').And he led him to Jesus. John 1:48"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. "Before Philip called you," said Jesus, "when you were under the fig-tree I saw you."Nathanael says to him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said to him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.Nathanael says to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you."

You shall see greater things than that."Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these.Jesus answered him, "Because I told you, 'I saw you underneath the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these."
