Hebrews 6:1Therefore leaving elementary instruction about the Christ, let us advance to mature manhood and not be continually re-laying a foundation of repentance from lifeless works and of faith in God,Wherefore leaving the word of the beginning of Christ, let us go on to things more perfect, not laying again the foundation of penance from dead works, and of faith towards God,Wherefore leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto perfection; not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Hebrews 6:2or of teaching about ceremonial washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and the last judgement.Of the doctrine of baptisms, and imposition of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.of the teaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Hebrews 6:3And advance we will, if God permits us to do so.And this will we do, if God permit.And this will we do, if God permit.
Hebrews 6:4For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once for all been enlightened, and have tasted the sweetness of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,For it is impossible for those who were once illuminated, have tasted also the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,For as touching those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
Hebrews 6:5and have realized how good the word of God is and how mighty are the powers of the coming Age, and then fell awayHave moreover tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come,
Hebrews 6:6it is impossible, I say, to keep bringing them back to a new repentance, for, to their own undoing, they are repeatedly crucifying the Son of God afresh and exposing Him to open shame.And are fallen away: to be renewed again to penance, crucifying again to themselves the Son of God, and making him a mockery.and [then] fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Hebrews 6:7For land which has drunk in the rain that often falls upon it, and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sakes, indeed, it is tilled, has a share in God's blessing.For the earth that drinketh in the rain which cometh often upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is tilled, receiveth blessing from God.For the land which hath drunk the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receiveth blessing from God:
Hebrews 6:8But if it only yields a mass of thorns and briers, it is considered worthless, and is in danger of being cursed, and in the end will be destroyed by fire.But that which bringeth forth thorns and briers, is reprobate, and very near unto a curse, whose end is to be burnt.but if it beareth thorns and thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curse; whose end is to be burned.
Hebrews 6:9But we, even while we speak in this tone, have a happier conviction concerning you, my dearly-loved friends a conviction of things which point towards salvation.But, my dearly beloved, we trust better things of you, and nearer to salvation; though we speak thus.But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak:
Hebrews 6:10For God is not unjust so that He is unmindful of your labour and of the love which you have manifested towards Himself in having rendered services to His people and in still rendering them.For God is not unjust, that he should forget your work, and the love which you have shewn in his name, you who have ministered, and do minister to the saints.for God is not unrighteous to forget your work and the love which ye showed toward his name, in that ye ministered unto the saints, and still do minister.
Hebrews 6:11But we long for each of you to continue to manifest the same earnestness, with a view to your enjoying fulness of hope to the very End;And we desire that every one of you shew forth the same carefulness to the accomplishing of hope unto the end:And we desire that each one of you may show the same diligence unto the fulness of hope even to the end:
Hebrews 6:12so that you may not become half-hearted, but be imitators of those who through faith and patient endurance are now heirs to the promises.That you become not slothful, but followers of them, who through faith and patience shall inherit the promises.that ye be not sluggish, but imitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Hebrews 6:13For when God gave the promise to Abraham, since He had no one greater to swear by, He swore by Himself,For God making promise to Abraham, because he had no one greater by whom he might swear, swore by himself,For when God made promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he sware by himself,
Hebrews 6:14saying, "Assuredly I will bless you and bless you, I will increase you and increase you."Saying: Unless blessing I shall bless thee, and multiplying I shall multiply thee.saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
Hebrews 6:15And so, as the result of patient waiting, our forefather obtained what God had promised.And so patiently enduring he obtained the promise.And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:16For men swear by what is greater than themselves; and with them an oath in confirmation of a statement always puts an end to a dispute.For men swear by one greater than themselves: and an oath for confirmation is the end of all their controversy.For men swear by the greater: and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.
Hebrews 6:17In the same way, since it was God's desire to display more convincingly to the heirs of the promise how unchangeable His purpose was,Wherein God, meaning more abundantly to shew to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed an oath:Wherein God, being minded to show more abundantly unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath;
Hebrews 6:18He added an oath, in order that, through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for Him to prove false, we may possess mighty encouragement we who, for safety, have hastened to lay hold of the hope set before us.That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have the strongest comfort, who have fled for refuge to hold fast the hope set before us.that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:
Hebrews 6:19That hope we have as an anchor of the soul an anchor that can neither break nor drag. It passes in behind the veil,Which we have as an anchor of the soul, sure and firm, and which entereth in even within the veil;which we have as an anchor of the soul, [a hope] both sure and stedfast and entering into that which is within the veil;
Hebrews 6:20where Jesus has entered as a forerunner on our behalf, having become, like Melchizedek, a High Priest for ever.Where the forerunner Jesus is entered for us, made a high priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedech.whither as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
