| 1st-John 5:1 | Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God; and every one who loves the Father loves also Him who is the Father's Child. | Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him who begot, loveth him also who is born of him. | Everyone who has faith that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God: and everyone who has love for the Father has love for his child. |
| 1st-John 5:2 | The fact that we love God Himself, and obey His commands, is a proof that we love God's children. | In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and keep his commandments. | In this way, we are certain that we have love for the children of God, when we have love for God and keep his laws. |
