Acts 2:1At length, on the day of the Harvest Festival, they had all met in one place;And when the days of the Pentecost were accomplished, they were all together in one place:And when the day of Pentecost was now accomplishing, they were all together in one place.
Acts 2:2when suddenly there came from the sky a sound as of a strong rushing blast of wind. This filled the whole house where they were sitting;And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty wind coming, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.And there came suddenly a sound out of heaven as of a violent impetuous blowing, and filled all the house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3and they saw tongues of what looked like fire distributing themselves over the assembly, and on the head of each person a tongue alighted.And there appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them:And there appeared to them parted tongues, as of fire, and it sat upon each one of them.
Acts 2:4They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in foreign languages according as the Spirit gave them words to utter.And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they began to speak with divers tongues, according as the Holy Ghost gave them to speak.And they were all filled with [the] Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave to them to speak forth.
Acts 2:5Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, devout men from every part of the world.Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.Now there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, pious men, from every nation of those under heaven.
Acts 2:6So when this noise was heard, they came crowding together, and were amazed because everyone heard his own language spoken.And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue.But the rumour of this having spread, the multitude came together and were confounded, because each one heard them speaking in his own dialect.
Acts 2:7They were beside themselves with wonder, and exclaimed, "Are not all these speakers Galilaeans?And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these, that speak, Galileans?And all were amazed and wondered, saying, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galilaeans?
Acts 2:8How then does each of us hear his own native language spoken by them?And how have we heard, every man our own tongue wherein we were born?and how do *we* hear [them] each in our own dialect in which we have been born,
Acts 2:9Some of us are Parthians, Medes, Elamites. Some are inhabitants of Mesopotamia, of Judaea or Cappadocia, of Pontus or the Asian Province, of Phrygia or Pamphylia,Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those who inhabit Mesopotamia, and Judaea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Acts 2:10of Egypt or of the parts of Africa towards Cyrene. Others are visitors from Rome being either Jews or converts from heathenism and others are Cretans or Arabians.Phrygia, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome,both Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya which adjoin Cyrene, and the Romans sojourning [here], both Jews and proselytes,
Acts 2:11Yet we all alike hear these Galilaeans speaking in our own language about the wonderful things which God has done."Jews also, and proselytes, Cretes, and Arabians: we have heard them speak in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the great things of God?
Acts 2:12They were all astounded and bewildered, and asked one another, "What can this mean?"And they were all astonished, and wondered, saying one to another: What meaneth this?And they were all amazed and in perplexity, saying one to another, What would this mean?
Acts 2:13But others, scornfully jeering, said, "They are brim-full of sweet wine."But others mocking, said: These men are full of new wine.But others mocking said, They are full of new wine.
Acts 2:14Peter however, together with the Eleven, stood up and addressed them in a loud voice. "Men of Judaea, and all you inhabitants of Jerusalem," he said, "be in no uncertainty about this matter but pay attention to what I say.But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke to them: Ye men of Judea, and all you that dwell in Jerusalem, be this known to you, and with your ears receive my words.But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, Men of Judaea, and all ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give heed to my words:
Acts 2:15For this is not intoxication, as you suppose, it being only the third hour of the day.For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day:for these are not full of wine, as *ye* suppose, for it is the third hour of the day;
Acts 2:16But that which was predicted through the Prophet Joel has happened:But this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel:but this is that which was spoken through the prophet Joel,
Acts 2:17"And it shall come to pass in the last days, God says, that I will pour out My Spirit upon all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall have dreams;And it shall come to pass, in the last days, (saith the Lord,) I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.And it shall be in the last days, saith God, [that] I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your elders shall dream with dreams;
Acts 2:18and even upon My bondservants, both men and women, at that time, I will pour out My Spirit, and they shall prophesy.And upon my servants indeed, and upon my handmaids will I pour out in those days of my spirit, and they shall prophesy.yea, even upon my bondmen and upon my bondwomen in those days will I pour out of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
Acts 2:19I will display marvels in the sky above, and signs on the earth below, blood and fire, and pillars of smoke.And I will shew wonders in the heaven above, and signs on the earth beneath: blood and fire, and vapour of smoke.And I will give wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
Acts 2:20The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, to usher in the day of the Lord that great and illustrious day;The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and manifest day of the Lord come.the sun shall be changed to darkness and the moon to blood, before the great and gloriously appearing day of [the] Lord come.
Acts 2:21and every one who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.'And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.And it shall be that whosoever shall call upon the name of [the] Lord shall be saved.
Acts 2:22"Listen, Israelites, to what I say. Jesus, the Nazarene, a man accredited to you from God by miracles and marvels and signs which God did among you through Him, as you yourselves know, HimYe men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and wonders, and signs, which God did by him, in the midst of you, as you also know:Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus the Nazaraean, a man borne witness to by God to you by works of power and wonders and signs, which God wrought by him in your midst, as yourselves know
Acts 2:23delivered up through God's settled purpose and foreknowledge you by the hands of Gentiles have nailed to a cross and have put to death.This same being delivered up, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you by the hands of wicked men have crucified and slain.him, given up by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye, by [the] hand of lawless [men], have crucified and slain.
Acts 2:24But God has raised Him to life, having terminated the throes of death, for in fact it was not possible for Him to be held fast by death.Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the sorrows of hell, as it was impossible that he should be holden by it.Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death, inasmuch as it was not possible that he should be held by its power;
Acts 2:25For David says in reference to Him, "`I constantly fixed my eyes upon the Lord, because He is at my right hand in order that I may continue unshaken.For David saith concerning him: I foresaw the Lord before my face: because he is at my right hand, that I may not be moved.for David says as to him, I foresaw the Lord continually before me, because he is at my right hand that I may not be moved.
Acts 2:26For this reason my heart is glad and my tongue exults. My body also shall rest in hope.For this my heart hath been glad, and any tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.Therefore has my heart rejoiced and my tongue exulted; yea more, my flesh also shall dwell in hope,
Acts 2:27For Thou wilt not leave me in the Unseen World forsaken, nor give up Thy holy One to undergo decay.Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, nor suffer thy Holy One to see corruption.for thou wilt not leave my soul in hades, nor wilt thou give thy gracious one to see corruption.
Acts 2:28Thou hast made known to me the ways of Life: Thou wilt fill me with gladness in Thy presence.'Thou hast made known to me the ways of life: thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.Thou hast made known to me [the] paths of life, thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance.
Acts 2:29"As to the patriarch David, I need hardly remind you, brethren, that he died and was buried, and that we still have his tomb among us.Ye men, brethren, let me freely speak to you of the patriarch David; that he died, and was buried; and his sepulchre is with us to this present day.Brethren, let it be allowed to speak with freedom to you concerning the patriarch David, that he has both died and been buried, and his monument is amongst us unto this day.
Acts 2:30Being a Prophet, however, and knowing that God had solemnly sworn to him to seat a descendant of his upon his throne,Whereas therefore he was a prophet, and knew that God hath sworn to him with an oath, that of the fruit of his loins one should sit upon his throne.Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn to him with an oath, of the fruit of his loins to set upon his throne;
Acts 2:31with prophetic foresight he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, to the effect that He was not left forsaken in the Unseen World, nor did His body undergo decay.Foreseeing this, he spoke of the resurrection of Christ. For neither was he left in hell, neither did his flesh see corruption.he, seeing [it] before, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither has he been left in hades nor his flesh seen corruption.
Acts 2:32This Jesus, God has raised to life a fact to which all of us testify.This Jesus hath God raised again, whereof all we are witnesses.This Jesus has God raised up, whereof all *we* are witnesses.
Acts 2:33"Being therefore lifted high by the mighty hand of God, He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out this which you see and hear.Being exalted therefore by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath poured forth this which you see and hear.Having therefore been exalted by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which *ye* behold and hear.
Acts 2:34For David did not ascend into Heaven, but he says himself, "`The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at My right handFor David ascended not into heaven; but he himself said: The Lord said to my Lord, sit thou on my right hand,For David has not ascended into the heavens, but he says himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit at my right hand
Acts 2:35until I make thy foes a footstool under thy feet.'Until I make thy enemies thy footstool.until I have put thine enemies [to be] the footstool of thy feet.
Acts 2:36"Therefore let the whole House of Israel know beyond all doubt that God has made Him both LORD and CHRIST this Jesus whom you crucified."Therefore let all the house of Israel know most certainly, that God hath made both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus, whom you have crucified.Let the whole house of Israel therefore know assuredly that God has made him, this Jesus whom *ye* have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Acts 2:37Stung to the heart by these words, they said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles, "Brethren, what are we to do?"Now when they had heard these things, they had compunction in their heart, and said to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles: What shall we do, men and brethren?And having heard [it] they were pricked in heart, and said to Peter and the other apostles, What shall we do, brethren?
Acts 2:38"Repent," replied Peter, "and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, with a view to the remission of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.But Peter said to them: Do penance, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of your sins: and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.And Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptised, each one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for remission of sins, and ye will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:39For to you belongs the promise, and to your children, and to all who are far off, whoever the Lord our God may call."For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are far off, whomsoever the Lord our God shall call.For to you is the promise and to your children, and to all who [are] afar off, as many as [the] Lord our God may call.
Acts 2:40And with many more appeals he solemnly warned and entreated them, saying, "Escape from this crooked generation."And with very many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying: Save yourselves from this perverse generation.And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation.
Acts 2:41Those, therefore, who joyfully welcomed his Message were baptized; and on that one day about three thousand persons were added to them;They therefore that received his word, were baptized; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.Those then who had accepted his word were baptised; and there were added in that day about three thousand souls.
Acts 2:42and they were constant in listening to the teaching of the Apostles and in their attendance at the Communion, that is, the Breaking of the Bread, and at prayer.And they were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles, and in the communication of the breaking of bread, and in prayers.And they persevered in the teaching and fellowship of the apostles, in breaking of bread and prayers.
Acts 2:43Fear came upon every one, and many marvels and signs were done by the Apostles.And fear came upon every soul: many wonders also and signs were done by the apostles in Jerusalem, and there was great fear in all.And fear was upon every soul, and many wonders and signs took place through the apostles' means.
Acts 2:44And all the believers kept together, and had everything in common.And all they that believed, were together, and had all things common.And all that believed were together, and had all things common,
Acts 2:45They sold their lands and other property, and distributed the proceeds among all, according to every one's necessities.Their possessions and goods they sold, and divided them to all, according as every one had need.and sold their possessions and substance, and distributed them to all, according as any one might have need.
Acts 2:46And, day by day, attending constantly in the Temple with one accord, and breaking bread in private houses, they took their meals with great happiness and single-heartedness,And continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they took their meat with gladness and simplicity of heart;And every day, being constantly in the temple with one accord, and breaking bread in [the] house, they received their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Acts 2:47praising God and being regarded with favour by all the people. Also, day by day, the Lord added to their number those whom He was saving.Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord increased daily together such as should be saved.praising God, and having favour with all the people; and the Lord added [to the assembly] daily those that were to be saved.
