| Matthew 17:1 | Six day later, Jesus took with Him Peter and the brothers James and John, and brought them up a high mountain to a solitary place. | And after six days Jesus taketh unto him Peter and James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain apart: | And after six days Jesus takes with [him] Peter, and James, and John his brother, and brings them up into a high mountain apart. |

| Matthew 17:11 | "Elijah was indeed to come," He replied, "and would reform everything. | But he answering, said to them: Elias indeed shall come, and restore all things. | And he answering said to them, Elias indeed comes first and will restore all things. |

And before long the Son of Man will be treated by them in a similar way." | But I say to you, that Elias is already come, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they had a mind. So also the Son of man shall suffer from them. | But I say unto you that Elias has already come, and they have not known him, but have done unto him whatever they would. Thus also the Son of man is about to suffer from them. |

Often he falls into the fire and often into the water. | And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. | Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatic, and suffers sorely; for often he falls into the fire and often into the water. |
| Matthew 17:16 | I have brought him to your disciples, and they have not been able to cure him." | Then Jesus answered and said: O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. | And I brought him to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him. |
| Matthew 17:17 | "O unbelieving and perverse generation!" replied Jesus; "how long shall I be with you? how long shall I endure you? Bring him to me." | And Jesus rebuked him, and the devil went out of him, and the child was cured from that hour. | And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to me. |
| Matthew 17:18 | Then Jesus reprimanded the demon, and it came out and left him; and the boy was cured from that moment. | Then came the disciples to Jesus secretly, and said: Why could not we cast him out? | And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out from him, and the boy was healed from that hour. |
| Matthew 17:19 | Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and asked Him, "Why could not we expel the demon?" | Jesus said to them: Because of your unbelief. For, amen I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, Remove from hence hither, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. | Then the disciples, coming to Jesus apart, said [to him], Why were not *we* able to cast him out? |
| Matthew 17:20 | "Because your faith is so small," He replied; "for I solemnly declare to you that if you have faith like a mustard-seed, you shall say to this mountain, `Remove from this place to that,' and it will remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you. | But this kind is not cast out but by prayer and fasting. | And he says to them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard [seed], ye shall say to this mountain, Be transported hence there, and it shall transport itself; and nothing shall be impossible to you. |
| Matthew 17:21 | But an evil spirit of this kind is only driven out by prayer and fasting." | And when they abode together in Galilee, Jesus said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: | But this kind does not go out but by prayer and fasting. |
| Matthew 17:22 | As they were travelling about in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men; | And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise again. And they were troubled exceedingly. | And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, The Son of man is about to be delivered up into [the] hands of men, |
| Matthew 17:23 | they will put Him to death, but on the third day He will be raised to life again." And they were exceedingly distressed. | And when they were come to Capharnaum, they that recieved the didrachmas, came to Peter and said to him: Doth not your master pay the didrachmas? | and they shall kill him; and the third day he shall be raised up. And they were greatly grieved. |
| Matthew 17:24 | After their arrival at Capernaum the collectors of the half-shekel came and asked Peter, "Does not your Teacher pay the half-shekel?" | He said: Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying: What is thy opinion, Simon? The kings of the earth, of whom do they receive tribute or custom? of their own children, or of strangers? | And when they came to Capernaum, those who received the didrachmas came to Peter and said, Does your teacher not pay the didrachmas? |
| Matthew 17:25 | "Yes," he replied, and then went into the house. But before he spoke a word Jesus said, "What think you, Simon? From whom do this world's kings receive customs or capitation tax? from their own children, or from others?" | And he said: Of strangers. Jesus said to him: Then the children are free. | He says, Yes. And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, What dost thou think, Simon? the kings of the earth, from whom do they receive custom or tribute? from their own sons or from strangers? |

"Then the children go free," said Jesus. | But that we may not scandalize them, go to the sea, and cast in a hook: and that fish which shall first come up, take: and when thou hast opened its mouth, thou shalt find a stater: take that, and give it to them for me and thee. | Peter says to him, From strangers. Jesus said to him, Then are the sons free. |
| Matthew 17:27 | "However, lest we cause them to sin, go and throw a hook into the Lake, and take the first fish that comes up. When you open its mouth, you will find a shekel in it: bring that coin and give it to them for yourself and me." | | But that we may not be an offence to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when thou hast opened its mouth thou wilt find a stater; take that and give it to them for me and thee. |
