Mark 15:1At earliest dawn, after the High Priests had held a consultation with the Elders and Scribes, they and the entire Sanhedrin bound Jesus and took Him away and handed Him over to Pilate.And straightway in the morning, the chief priests holding a consultation with the ancients and the scribes and the whole council, binding Jesus, led him away, and delivered him to Pilate.And immediately, in the morning, the chief priests having made a consultation, with the elders, and scribes, and the whole sanhedrim, having bound Jesus, did lead away, and delivered [him] to Pilate;
Mark 15:2So Pilate questioned Him. "Are *you* the King of the Jews?" he asked. "I am," replied Jesus.And Pilate asked him: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, saith to him: Thou sayest it.and Pilate questioned him, `Art thou the king of the Jews?` and he answering said to him, `Thou dost say [it].`
Mark 15:3Then, as the High Priests went on heaping accusations on Him,And the chief priests accused him in many things.And the chief priests were accusing him of many things, [but he answered nothing.]
Mark 15:4Pilate again and again asked Him, "Do you make no reply? Listen to the many charges they are bringing against you."And Pilate again asked him, saying: Answerest thou nothing? behold in how many things they accuse thee.And Pilate again questioned him, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! lo, how many things they do testify against thee!`
Mark 15:5But Jesus made no further answer: so that Pilate wondered.But Jesus still answered nothing; so that Pilate wondered.and Jesus did no more answer anything, so that Pilate wondered.
Mark 15:6Now at the Festival it was customary for Pilate to release to the Jews any one prisoner whom they might beg off from punishment;Now on the festival day he was wont to release unto them one of the prisoners, whomsoever they demanded.And at every feast he was releasing to them one prisoner, whomsoever they were asking;
Mark 15:7and at this time a man named Barabbas was in prison among the insurgents persons who in the insurrection had committed murder.And there was one called Barabbas, who was put in prison with some seditious men, who in the sedition had committed murder.and there was [one] named Barabbas, bound with those making insurrection with him, who had in the insurrection committed murder.
Mark 15:8So the people came crowding up, asking Pilate to grant them the usual favour.And when the multitude was come up, they began to desire that he would do, as he had ever done unto them.And the multitude having cried out, began to ask for themselves as he was always doing to them,
Mark 15:9"Shall I release for you the King of the Jews?" answered Pilate.And Pilate answered them, and said: Will you that I release to you the king of the Jews?and Pilate answered them, saying, `Will ye [that] I shall release to you the king of the Jews?`
Mark 15:10For he could see that it was out of sheer spite that the High Priests had handed Him over.For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him up out of envy.for he knew that because of envy the chief priests had delivered him up;
Mark 15:11But the High Priests urged on the crowd to obtain Barabbas's release in preference;But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas to them.and the chief priests did move the multitude, that he might rather release Barabbas to them.
Mark 15:12and when Pilate again asked them, "What then shall I do to the man you call King of the Jews?"And Pilate again answering, saith to them: What will you then that I do to the king of the Jews?And Pilate answering, again said to them, `What, then, will ye [that] I shall do to him whom ye call king of the Jews?`
Mark 15:13they once more shouted out, "Crucify Him!"But they again cried out: Crucify him.and they again cried out, `Crucify him.`
Mark 15:14"Why, what crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they vehemently shouted, "Crucify Him!"And Pilate saith to them: Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more: Crucify him.And Pilate said to them, `Why what evil did he?` and they cried out the more vehemently, `Crucify him;`
Mark 15:15So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the mob, released Barabbas for them, and after scourging Jesus handed Him over for crucifixion.And so Pilate being willing to satisfy the people, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.and Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus having scourged [him] that he might be crucified.
Mark 15:16Then the soldiers led Him away into the court of the Palace (the Praetorium), and calling together the whole battalionAnd the soldiers led him away into the court of the palace, and they called together the whole band:And the soldiers led him away into the hall, which is Praetorium, and call together the whole band,
Mark 15:17they arrayed Him in crimson, placed on His head a wreath of thorny twigs which they had twisted,And they clothe him with purple, and platting a crown of thorns, they put it upon him.and clothe him with purple, and having plaited a crown of thorns, they put [it] on him,
Mark 15:18and went on to salute Him with shouts of "Long live the King of the Jews."And they began to salute him: Hail, king of the Jews.and began to salute him, `Hail, King of the Jews.`
Mark 15:19Then they began to beat Him on the head with a cane, to spit on Him, and to do Him homage on bended knees.And they struck his head with a reed: and they did spit on him. And bowing their knees, they adored him.And they were smiting him on the head with a reed, and were spitting on him, and having bent the knee, were bowing to him,
Mark 15:20At last, having finished their sport, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.And after they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own garments on him, and they led him out to crucify him.and when they [had] mocked him, they took the purple from off him, and clothed him in his own garments, and they led him forth, that they may crucify him.
Mark 15:21One Simon, a Cyrenaean, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing along, coming from the country: him they compelled to carry His cross.And they forced one Simon a Cyrenian who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and of Rufus, to take up his cross.And they impress a certain one passing by Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus that he may bear his cross,
Mark 15:22So they brought Him to the place called Golgotha, which, being translated, means `Skull-ground.'And they bring him into the place called Golgotha, which being interpreted is, The place of Calvary.and they bring him to the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, `Place of a skull;`
Mark 15:23Here they offered Him wine mixed with myrrh; but He refused it.And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh; but he took it not.and they were giving him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, and he did not receive.
Mark 15:24Then they crucified Him. This done, they divided His garments among them, drawing lots to decide what each should take.And crucifying him, they divided his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.And having crucified him, they were dividing his garments, casting a lot upon them, what each may take;
Mark 15:25It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified Him.And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.and it was the third hour, and they crucified him;
Mark 15:26Over His head was the notice in writing of the charge against Him: THE KING OF THE JEWS.And the inscription of his cause was written over: THE KING OF THE JEWS.and the inscription of his accusation was written above `The King of the Jews.`
Mark 15:27And together with Jesus they crucified two robbers, one at His right hand and one at His left.And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.And with him they crucify two robbers, one on the right hand, and one on his left,
Mark 15:28[]And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith: And with the wicked he was reputed.and the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, `And with lawless ones he was numbered.`
Mark 15:29And all the passers-by reviled Him. They shook their heads at Him and said, "Ah! you who were for destroying the Sanctuary and building a new one in three days,And they that passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, and saying: Vah, thou that destroyest the temple of God, and in three days buildest it up again;And those passing by were speaking evil of him, shaking their heads, and saying, `Ah, the thrower down of the sanctuary, and in three days the builder!
Mark 15:30come down from the cross and save yourself."Save thyself, coming down from the cross.save thyself, and come down from the cross!`
Mark 15:31In the same way the High Priests also, as well as the Scribes, kept on scoffing at Him, saying to one another, "He has saved others: himself he cannot save!In like manner also the chief priests mocking, said with the scribes one to another: He saved others; himself he cannot save.And in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, `Others he saved; himself he is not able to save.
Mark 15:32This Christ, the King of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Even the men who were being crucified with Him heaped insults on Him.Let Christ the king of Israel come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.The Christ! the king of Israel let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe;` and those crucified with him were reproaching him.
Mark 15:33At noon there came a darkness over the whole land, lasting till three o'clock in the afternoon.And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole earth until the ninth hour.And the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land till the ninth hour,
Mark 15:34But at three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "Elohi, Elohi, lama sabachthani?" which means, "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?"And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabacthani? Which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?and at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, `Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?` which is, being interpreted, `My God, my God, why didst Thou forsake me?`
Mark 15:35Some of the bystanders, hearing Him, said, "Listen, he is calling for Elijah!"And some of the standers by hearing, said: Behold he calleth Elias.And certain of those standing by, having heard, said, `Lo, Elijah he doth call;`
Mark 15:36Then a man ran to fill a sponge with sour wine, and he put it on the end of a cane and placed it to His lips, saying at the same time, "Wait! let us see whether Elijah will come and take him down."And one running and filling a sponge with vinegar, and putting it upon a reed, gave him to drink, saying: Stay, let us see if Elias come to take him down.and one having run, and having filled a spunge with vinegar, having put [it] also on a reed, was giving him to drink, saying, `Let alone, let us see if Elijah doth come to take him down.`
Mark 15:37But Jesus uttered a loud cry and yielded up His spirit.And Jesus having cried out with a loud voice, gave up the ghost.And Jesus having uttered a loud cry, yielded the spirit,
Mark 15:38And the curtain in the Sanctuary was torn in two, from top to bottom.And the veil of the temple was rent in two, from the top to the bottom.and the veil of the sanctuary was rent in two, from top to bottom,
Mark 15:39And when the Centurion who stood in front of the cross saw that He was dead, he exclaimed, "This man was indeed God's Son."And the centurion who stood over against him, seeing that crying out in this manner he had given up the ghost, said: Indeed this man was the son of God.and the centurion who was standing over-against him, having seen that, having so cried out, he yielded the spirit, said, `Truly this man was Son of God.`
Mark 15:40There were also a party of women looking on from a distance; among them being both Mary of Magdala and Mary the mother of James the Little and of Joses, and SalomeAnd there were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joseph, and Salome:And there were also women afar off beholding, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,
Mark 15:41all of whom in the Galilaean days had habitually been with Him and cared for Him, as well as many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him.Who also when he was in Galilee followed him, and ministered to him, and many other women that came up with him to Jerusalem.(who also, when he was in Galilee, were following him, and were ministering to him,) and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
Mark 15:42Towards sunset, as it was the Preparation that is, the day preceding the SabbathAnd when evening was now come, (because it was the Parasceve, that is, the day before the sabbath,)And now evening having come, seeing it was the preparation, that is, the fore-sabbath,
Mark 15:43Joseph of Arimathaea came, a highly respected member of the Council, who himself also was living in expectation of the Kingdom of God. He summoned up courage to go in to see Pilate and beg for the body of Jesus.Joseph of Arimathea, a noble counsellor, who was also himself looking for the kingdom of God, came and went in boldly to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.Joseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, who also himself was waiting for the reign of God, came, boldly entered in unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.
Mark 15:44But Pilate could hardly believe that He was already dead. He called, however, for the Centurion and inquired whether He had been long dead;But Pilate wondered that he should be already dead. And sending for the centurion, he asked him if he were already dead.And Pilate wondered if he were already dead, and having called near the centurion, did question him if he were long dead,
Mark 15:45and having ascertained the fact he granted the body to Joseph.And when he had understood it by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.and having known [it] from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Mark 15:46He, having bought a sheet of linen, took Him down, wrapped Him in the sheet and laid Him in a tomb hewn in the rock; after which he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.And Joseph buying fine linen, and taking him down, wrapped him up in the fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewed out of a rock. And he rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.And he, having brought fine linen, and having taken him down, wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that had been hewn out of a rock, and he rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre,
Mark 15:47Mary of Magdala and Mary the mother of Joses were looking on to see where He was put.And Mary Magdalen, and Mary the mother of Joseph, beheld where he was laid.and Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of Joses, were beholding where he is laid.
