1st-Corinthians 2:1 | And as for myself, brethren, when I came to you, it was not with surpassing power of eloquence or earthly wisdom that I came, announcing to you that which God had commanded me to bear witness to. | And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. | And when I came to you, my brothers, I did not come with wise words of knowledge, putting before you the secret of God. |
1st-Corinthians 2:2 | For I determined to be utterly ignorant, when among you, of everything except of Jesus Christ, and of Him as having been crucified. | For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. | For I had made the decision to have knowledge of nothing among you but only of Jesus Christ on the cross. |
1st-Corinthians 2:3 | And so far as I myself was concerned, I came to you in conscious feebleness and in fear and in deep anxiety. | And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. | And I was with you without strength, in fear and in doubt. |
1st-Corinthians 2:4 | And my language and the Message that I proclaimed were not adorned with persuasive words of earthly wisdom, but depended upon truths which the Spirit taught and mightily carried home; | And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: | And in my preaching there were no honeyed words of wisdom, but I was dependent on the power of the Spirit to make it clear to you: |
1st-Corinthians 2:5 | so that your trust might rest not on the wisdom of man but on the power of God. | That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. | So that your faith might be based not on man's wisdom but on the power of God. |
1st-Corinthians 2:6 | Yet when we are among mature believers we do speak words of wisdom; a wisdom not belonging, however, to the present age nor to the leaders of the present age who are soon to pass away. | Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: | But still we have wisdom for those who are complete in knowledge, though not the wisdom of this world, and not of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing: |
1st-Corinthians 2:7 | But in dealing with truths hitherto kept secret we speak of God's wisdom that hidden wisdom which, before the world began, God pre-destined, so that it should result in glory to us; | But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: | But we give the news of the secret wisdom of God, which he had kept in store before the world came into existence, for our glory; |
1st-Corinthians 2:8 | a wisdom which not one of the leaders of the present age possesses, for if they had possessed it, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory. | Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. | Of which not one of the rulers of this world had knowledge: for if they had, they would not have put the Lord of glory on the cross: |
1st-Corinthians 2:9 | But to use the words of Scripture we speak of things which eye has not seen nor ear heard, and which have never entered the heart of man: all that God has in readiness for them that love Him. | But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. | But as it says in the holy Writings, Things which the eye saw not, and which had not come to the ears or into the heart of man, such things as God has made ready for those who have love for him. |
1st-Corinthians 2:10 | For us, however, God has drawn aside the veil through the teaching of the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, including the depths of the divine nature. | But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. | But God has given us the revelation of these things through his Spirit, for the Spirit makes search into all things, even the deep things of God. |
1st-Corinthians 2:11 | For, among human beings, who knows a man's inner thoughts except the man's own spirit within him? In the same way, also, only God's Spirit is acquainted with God's inner thoughts. | For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. | For who has knowledge of the things of a man but the spirit of the man which is in him? in the same way, no one has knowledge of the things of God but the Spirit of God. |
1st-Corinthians 2:12 | But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which comes forth from God, that we may know the blessings that have been so freely given to us by God. | Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. | But we have not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which comes from God, so that we may have knowledge of the things which are freely given to us by God. |
1st-Corinthians 2:13 | Of these we speak not in language which man's wisdom teaches us, but in that which the Spirit teaches adapting, as we do, spiritual words to spiritual truths. | Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. | And these are the things which we say, not in the language of man's wisdom, but in words given to us by the Spirit, judging the things of the spirit by the help of the Spirit. |
1st-Corinthians 2:14 | The unspiritual man rejects the things of the Spirit of God, and cannot attain to the knowledge of them, because they are spiritually judged. | But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. | For the natural man is not able to take in the things of the Spirit of God: for they seem foolish to him, and he is not able to have knowledge of them, because such knowledge comes only through the Spirit. |
1st-Corinthians 2:15 | But the spiritual man judges of everything, although he is himself judged by no one. | But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. | But he who has the Spirit, though judging all things, is himself judged by no one. |
1st-Corinthians 2:16 | For who has penetrated the mind of the Lord, and will instruct Him? But *we* have the mind of Christ. | For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. | For who has knowledge of the mind of the Lord, so as to be his teacher? But we have the mind of Christ. |
