| Philippians 1:17 | while the others proclaim Him from motives of rivalry, and insincerely, supposing that by this they are embittering my imprisonment. | But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. | But those are preaching Christ in a spirit of competition, not from their hearts, but with the purpose of giving me pain in my prison. |

In any case Christ is preached either perversely or in honest truth; and in that I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. | What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. | What then? only that in every way, falsely or truly, the preaching of Christ goes on; and in this I am glad, and will be glad. |
