2nd-Peter 1:1Simon Peter, a bondservant and Apostle of Jesus Christ: To those to whom there has been allotted the same precious faith as that which is ours through the righteousness of our God and of our Saviour Jesus Christ.Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: Simon Peter, bondman and apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have received like precious faith with us through [the] righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ:
2nd-Peter 1:2May more and more grace and peace be granted to you in a full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, Grace and peace be multiplied to you in [the] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
2nd-Peter 1:3seeing that His divine power has given us all things that are needful for life and godliness, through our knowledge of Him who has appealed to us by His own glorious perfections.According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: As his divine power has given to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us by glory and virtue,
2nd-Peter 1:4It is by means of these that He has granted us His precious and wondrous promises, in order that through them you may, one and all, become sharers in the very nature of God, having completely escaped the corruption which exists in the world through earthly cravings.Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. through which he has given to us the greatest and precious promises, that through these ye may become partakers of [the] divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
2nd-Peter 1:5But for this very reason adding, on your part, all earnestness along with your faith, manifest also a noble character: along with a noble character, knowledge;And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; But for this very reason also, using therewith all diligence, in your faith have also virtue, in virtue knowledge,
2nd-Peter 1:6along with knowledge, self-control; along with self-control, power of endurance;And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; in knowledge temperance, in temperance endurance, in endurance godliness,
2nd-Peter 1:7along with power of endurance, godliness; along with godliness, brotherly affection; and along with brotherly affection, love.And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. in godliness brotherly love, in brotherly love love:
2nd-Peter 1:8If these things exist in you, and continually increase, they prevent your being either idle or unfruitful in advancing towards a full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. for these things existing and abounding in you make [you] to be neither idle nor unfruitful as regards the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ;
2nd-Peter 1:9For the man in whom they are lacking is blind and cannot see distant objects, in that he has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his old sins.But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. for he with whom these things are not present is blind, short-sighted, and has forgotten the purging of his former sins.
2nd-Peter 1:10For this reason, brethren, be all the more in earnest to make sure that God has called you and chosen you; for it is certain that so long as you practise these things, you will never stumble.Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: Wherefore the rather, brethren, use diligence to make your calling and election sure, for doing these things ye will never fall;
2nd-Peter 1:11And so a triumphant admission into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will be freely granted to you.For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. for thus shall the entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ be richly furnished unto you.
2nd-Peter 1:12For this reason I shall always persist in reminding you of these things, although you know them and are stedfast believers in truth which you already possess.Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Wherefore I will be careful to put you always in mind of these things, although knowing [them] and established in the present truth.
2nd-Peter 1:13But I think it right, so long as I remain in the body, my present dwelling-place, to arouse you by such reminders.Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; But I account it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting [you] in remembrance,
2nd-Peter 1:14For I know that the time for me to lay aside my body is now rapidly drawing near, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has revealed to me.Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is speedily [to take place], as also our Lord Jesus Christ has manifested to me;
2nd-Peter 1:15So on every possible occasion I will also do my best to enable you to recall these things after my departure.Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. but I will use diligence, that after my departure ye should have also, at any time, [in your power] to call to mind these things.
2nd-Peter 1:16For when we made known to you the power and Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not eagerly following cleverly devised legends, but we had been eye-witnesses of His majesty.For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For we have not made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, following cleverly imagined fables, but having been eyewitnesses of *his* majesty.
2nd-Peter 1:17He received honour and glory from God the Father, and out of the wondrous glory words such as these were spoken to Him, "This is My dearly-loved Son, in whom I take delight."For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. For he received from God [the] Father honour and glory, such a voice being uttered to him by the excellent glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom *I* have found my delight;
2nd-Peter 1:18And we ourselves heard these words come from Heaven, when we were with Him on the holy mountain.And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. and this voice *we* heard uttered from heaven, being with him on the holy mountain.
2nd-Peter 1:19And in the written word of prophecy we have something more permanent; to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dimly-lighted place until day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: And we have the prophetic word [made] surer, to which ye do well taking heed (as to a lamp shining in an obscure place) until [the] day dawn and [the] morning star arise in your hearts;
2nd-Peter 1:20But, above all, remember that no prophecy in Scripture will be found to have come from the prophet's own prompting;Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. knowing this first, that [the scope of] no prophecy of scripture is had from its own particular interpretation,
2nd-Peter 1:21for never did any prophecy come by human will, but men sent by God spoke as they were impelled by the Holy Spirit.For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. for prophecy was not ever uttered by [the] will of man, but holy men of God spake under the power of [the] Holy Spirit.
