Ephesians 5:1Therefore be imitators of God, as His dear children.Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
Ephesians 5:2And live and act lovingly, as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up to death on our behalf as an offering and sacrifice to God, yielding a fragrant odor.And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.
Ephesians 5:3But fornication and every kind of impurity, or covetousness, let them not even be mentioned among you, for they ought not to be named among God's people.But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; But lewdness and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
Ephesians 5:4Avoid shameful and foolish talk and low jesting they are all alike discreditable and in place of these give thanks.Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
Ephesians 5:5For be well assured that no fornicator or immoral person and no money-grubber or in other words idol-worshipper has any share awaiting him in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. For this ye know, that no lewd, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Ephesians 5:6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming upon the disobedient.Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Ephesians 5:7Therefore do not become sharers with them.Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Be ye not therefore partakers with them.
Ephesians 5:8There was a time when you were nothing but darkness. Now, as Christians, you are Light itself.For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: For ye were sometime darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light;
Ephesians 5:9Live and act as sons of Light for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truth(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;) (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth;)
Ephesians 5:10and learn in your own experiences what is fully pleasing to the Lord.Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. Proving what is acceptable to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:11Have nothing to do with the barren unprofitable deeds of darkness, but, instead of that, set your faces against them;And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Ephesians 5:12for the things which are done by these people in secret it is disgraceful even to speak of.For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
Ephesians 5:13But everything can be tested by the light and thus be shown in its true colors; for whatever shines of itself is light.But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. But all things that are reproved, are made manifest by the light: for whatever doth make manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:14For this reason it is said, "Rise, sleeper; rise from among the dead, and Christ will shed light upon you."Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Wherefore he saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ will give thee light.
Ephesians 5:15Therefore be very careful how you live and act. Let it not be as unwise men, but as wise.See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Ephesians 5:16Buy up your opportunities, for these are evil times.Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:17On this account do not prove yourselves wanting in sense, but try to understand what the Lord's will is.Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
Ephesians 5:18Do not over-indulge in wine a thing in which excess is so easyAnd be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; And be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Ephesians 5:19but drink deeply of God's Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and offer praise in your hearts to the Lord.Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Speaking to yourselves in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
Ephesians 5:20Always and for everything let your thanks to God the Father be presented in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Giving thanks always for all things to God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Ephesians 5:21and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Ephesians 5:22Married women, submit to your own husbands as if to the Lord;Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:23because a husband is the Head of his wife as Christ also is the Head of the Church, being indeed the Saviour of this His Body.For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Savior of the body.
Ephesians 5:24And just as the Church submits to Christ, so also married women should be entirely submissive to their husbands.Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Therefore as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Ephesians 5:25Married men, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up to death for her;Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Ephesians 5:26in order to make her holy, cleansing her with the baptismal water by the word,That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Ephesians 5:27that He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished.That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:28So too married men ought to love their wives as much as they love themselves. He who loves his wife loves himself.So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. So ought men to love their wives, as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife, loveth himself.
Ephesians 5:29For never yet has a man hated his own body. On the contrary he feeds and cherishes it, just as Christ feeds and cherishes the Church;For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Ephesians 5:30because we are, as it were, parts of His Body.For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Ephesians 5:31"For this reason a man is to leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be as one."For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32That is a great truth hitherto kept secret: I mean the truth concerning Christ and the Church.This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Ephesians 5:33Yet I insist that among you also, each man is to love his own wife as much as he loves himself, and let a married woman see to it that she treats her husband with respect.Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Nevertheless, let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself: and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
