 The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)The King James Version Online Bible (KJV)The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)
John 7:1After this Jesus moved from place to place in Galilee. He would not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were seeking an opportunity to kill Him.After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him. And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,
John 7:2But the Jewish Festival of the Tent-Pitching was approaching.Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand. and the feast of the Jews was nigh that of tabernacles
John 7:3So His brothers said to Him, "Leave these parts and go into Judaea, that not only we but your disciples also may witness the miracles which you perform.His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. his brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;
John 7:4For no one acts in secret, desiring all the while to be himself known publicly. Since you are doing these things, show yourself openly to the world."For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things manifest thyself to the world;`
John 7:5For even His brothers were not believers in Him.For neither did his brethren believe in him. for not even were his brethren believing in him.
John 7:6"My time," replied Jesus, "has not yet come, but for you any time is suitable.Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready. Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;
John 7:7It is impossible for the world to hate you; but me it does hate, because I give testimony concerning it that its conduct is evil.The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.
John 7:8As for you, go up to the Festival. I do not now go up to this Festival, because my time is not yet fully come."Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. Ye go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;`
John 7:9Such was His answer, and He remained in Galilee.When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. and saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.
John 7:10When however His brothers had gone up to the Festival, then He also went up, not openly, but as it were privately.But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. And when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret;
John 7:11Meanwhile the Jews at the Festival were looking for Him and were inquiring, "Where is he?"Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? the Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?`
John 7:12Among the mass of the people there was much muttered debate about Him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so: he is imposing on the people."And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said `He is good;` and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;`
John 7:13Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke out boldly about Him.Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews. no one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews.
John 7:14But when the Festival was already half over, Jesus went up to the Temple and commenced teaching.Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,
John 7:15The Jews were astonished. "How does this man know anything of books," they said, "although he has never been at any of the schools?"And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters not having learned?`
John 7:16Jesus answered their question by saying, "My teaching does not belong to me, but comes from Him who sent me.Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Jesus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;
John 7:17If any one is willing to do His will, he shall know about the teaching, whether it is from God or originates with me.If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or I do speak from myself.
John 7:18The man whose teaching originates with himself aims at his own glory. He who aims at the glory of Him who sent him teaches the truth, and there is no deception in him.He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. `He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;
John 7:19Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not a man of you obeys the Law. Why do you want to kill me?"Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? hath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?`
John 7:20"You are possessed by a demon," replied the crowd; "no one wants to kill you."The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? The multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?`
John 7:21"One deed I have done," replied Jesus, "and you are all full of wonder.Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Jesus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,
John 7:22Consider therefore. Moses gave you the rite of circumcision (not that it began with Moses, but with your earlier forefathers), and even on a Sabbath day you circumcise a child.Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. because of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man;
John 7:23If a child is circumcised even on a Sabbath day, are you bitter against me because I have restored a man to perfect health on a Sabbath day?If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? if a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath?
John 7:24Do not form superficial judgements, but form the judgements that are just."Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. judge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.`
John 7:25Some however of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man they are wanting to kill?Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill?
John 7:26But here he is, speaking openly and boldly, and they say nothing to him! Can the Rulers really have ascertained that this man is the Christ?But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? and, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?
John 7:27And yet we know this man, and we know where he is from; but as for the Christ, when He comes, no one can tell where He is from."Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. but this one we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.`
John 7:28Jesus therefore, while teaching in the Temple, cried aloud, and said, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. And yet I have not come of my own accord; but there is One who has sent me, an Authority indeed, of whom you have no knowledge.Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;
John 7:29I know Him, because I came from Him, and He sent me."But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.`
John 7:30On hearing this they wanted to arrest Him; yet not a hand was laid on Him, because His time had not yet come.Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. They were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,
John 7:31But from among the crowd a large number believed in Him. "When the Christ comes," they said, "will He perform more miracles than this teacher has performed?"And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? and many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said `The Christ when he may come will he do more signs than these that this one did?`
John 7:32The Pharisees heard the people thus expressing their various doubts about Him, and the High Priests and the Pharisees sent some officers to apprehend Him.The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him. The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;
John 7:33So Jesus said, "Still for a short time I am with you, and then I go my way to Him who sent me.Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me. Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;
John 7:34You will look for me and will not find me, and where I am you cannot come."Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. ye will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.`
John 7:35The Jews therefore said to one another, "Where is he about to betake himself, so that we shall not find him? Will he betake himself to the Dispersion among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks;
John 7:36What do those words of his mean, `You will look for me, but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come'?"What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come? what is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?`
John 7:37On the last day of the Festival the great day Jesus stood up and cried aloud. "Whoever is thirsty," He said, "let him come to me and drink.In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. And in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink;
John 7:38He who believes in me, from within him as the Scripture has said rivers of living water shall flow."He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;`
John 7:39He referred to the Spirit which those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not bestowed as yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) and this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
John 7:40After listening to these discourses, some of the crowd began to say, "This is beyond doubt the Prophet."Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. Many, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;`
John 7:41Others said, "He is the Christ." But others again, "Not so, for is the Christ to come from Galilee?Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? others said, `This is the Christ;` and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?
John 7:42Has not the Scripture declared that the Christ is to come of the family of David and from Bethlehem, David's village?"Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the village where David was the Christ doth come?`
John 7:43So there was a violent dissension among the people on His account.So there was a division among the people because of him. A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him.
John 7:44Some of them wanted at once to arrest Him, but no one laid hands upon Him.And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him. And certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;
John 7:45Meanwhile the officers returned to the High Priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why have you not brought him?"Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him? the officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?`
John 7:46"No mere man has ever spoken as this man speaks," said the officers.The officers answered, Never man spake like this man. The officers answered, `Never so spake man as this man.`
John 7:47"Are *you* deluded too?" replied the Pharisees;Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray?
John 7:48"has any one of the Rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? did any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But this rabble who understand nothing about the Law are accursed!"But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed. but this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.`
John 7:50Nicodemus interposed he who had formerly gone to Jesus, being himself one of them.Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,) Nicodemus saith unto them he who came by night unto him being one of them,
John 7:51"Does our Law," he asked, "judge a man without first hearing what he has to say and ascertaining what his conduct is?"Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth? `Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?`
John 7:52"Do you also come from Galilee?" they asked in reply. "Search and see for yourself that no Prophet is of Galilaean origin."They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. They answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;`
John 7:53[So they went away to their several homes;And every man went unto his own house. and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives.
