Philippians 3:1 | In conclusion, my brethren, be joyful in the Lord. For me to give you the same warnings as before is not irksome to me, while so far as you are concerned it is a safe precaution. | Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. | As to the rest, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord; the same things to write to you to me indeed is not tiresome, and for you [is] sure; |
Philippians 3:2 | Beware of `the dogs,' the bad workmen, the self-mutilators. | Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. | look to the dogs, look to the evil-workers, look to the concision; |
Philippians 3:3 | For we are the true circumcision we who render to God a spiritual worship and make our boast in Christ Jesus and have no confidence in outward ceremonies: | For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. | for we are the circumcision, who by the Spirit are serving God, and glorying in Christ Jesus, and in flesh having no trust, |
Philippians 3:4 | although I myself might have some excuse for confidence in outward ceremonies. If any one else claims a right to trust in them, far more may I: | Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: | though I also have [cause of] trust in flesh. If any other one doth think to have trust in flesh, I more; |
Philippians 3:5 | circumcised, as I was, on the eighth day, a member of the race of Israel and of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew sprung from Hebrews; as to the Law a Pharisee; | Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; | circumcision on the eighth day! of the race of Israel! of the tribe of Benjamin! a Hebrew of Hebrews! according to law a Pharisee! |
Philippians 3:6 | as to zeal, a persecutor of the Church; as to the righteousness which comes through Law, blameless. | Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. | according to zeal persecuting the assembly! according to righteousness that is in law becoming blameless! |
Philippians 3:7 | Yet all that was gain to me for Christ's sake I have reckoned it loss. | But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. | But what things were to me gains, these I have counted, because of the Christ, loss; |
Philippians 3:8 | Nay, I even reckon all things as pure loss because of the priceless privilege of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. And for His sake I have suffered the loss of everything, and reckon it all as mere refuse, in order that I may win Christ and be found in union with Him, | Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, | yes, indeed, and I count all things to be loss, because of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, because of whom of the all things I suffered loss, and do count them to be refuse, that Christ I may gain, and be found in him, |
Philippians 3:9 | not having a righteousness of my own, derived from the Law, but that which arises from faith in Christ the righteousness which comes from God through faith. | And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: | not having my righteousness, which [is] of law, but that which [is] through faith of Christ the righteousness that is of God by the faith, |
Philippians 3:10 | I long to know Christ and the power which is in His resurrection, and to share in His sufferings and die even as He died; | That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; | to know him, and the power of his rising again, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being conformed to his death, |
Philippians 3:11 | in the hope that I may attain to the resurrection from among the dead. | If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. | if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead. |
Philippians 3:12 | I do not say that I have already won the race or have already reached perfection. But I am pressing on, striving to lay hold of the prize for which also Christ has laid hold of me. | Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. | Not that I did already obtain, or have been already perfected; but I pursue, if also I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by the Christ Jesus; |
Philippians 3:13 | Brethren, I do not imagine that I have yet laid hold of it. But this one thing I do forgetting everything which is past and stretching forward to what lies in front of me, | Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, | brethren, I do not reckon myself to have laid hold; and one thing the things behind indeed forgetting, and to the things before stretching forth |
Philippians 3:14 | with my eyes fixed on the goal I push on to secure the prize of God's heavenward call in Christ Jesus. | I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. | to the mark I pursue for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. |
Philippians 3:15 | Therefore let all of us who are mature believers cherish these thoughts; and if in any respect you think differently, that also God will make clear to you. | Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. | As many, therefore, as [are] perfect let us think this, and if [in] anything ye think otherwise, this also shall God reveal to you, |
Philippians 3:16 | But whatever be the point that we have already reached, let us persevere in the same course. | Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. | but to what we have come by the same rule walk, the same thing think; |
Philippians 3:17 | Brethren, vie with one another in imitating me, and carefully observe those who follow the example which we have set you. | Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. | become followers together of me, brethren, and observe those thus walking, according as ye have us a pattern; |
Philippians 3:18 | For there are many whom I have often described to you, and I now even with tears describe them, as being enemies to the Cross of Christ. | (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: | for many walk of whom many times I told you and now also weeping tell the enemies of the cross of the Christ! |
Philippians 3:19 | Their end is destruction, their bellies are their God, their glory is in their shame, and their minds are devoted to earthly things. | Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) | whose end [is] destruction, whose god [is] the belly, and whose glory [is] in their shame, who the things on earth are minding. |
Philippians 3:20 | We, however, are free citizens of Heaven, and we are waiting with longing expectation for the coming from Heaven of a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, | For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: | For our citizenship is in the heavens, whence also a Saviour we await the Lord Jesus Christ |
Philippians 3:21 | who, in the exercise of the power which He has even to subject all things to Himself, will transform this body of our humiliation until it resembles His own glorious body. | Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself. | who shall transform the body of our humiliation to its becoming conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working of his power, even to subject to himself the all things. |
