Romans 2:1You are therefore without excuse, O man, whoever you are who sit in judgement upon others. For when you pass judgement on your fellow man, you condemn yourself; for you who sit in judgement upon others are guilty of the same misdeeds;Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man every one who is judging for in that in which thou dost judge the other, thyself thou dost condemn, for the same things thou dost practise who art judging,
Romans 2:2and we know that God's judgement against those who commit such sins is in accordance with the truth.But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. and we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth, upon those practising such things.
Romans 2:3And you who pronounce judgement upon those who do such things although your own conduct is the same as theirs do you imagine that you yourself will escape unpunished when God judges?And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? And dost thou think this, O man, who art judging those who such things are practising, and art doing them, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
Romans 2:4Or is it that you think slightingly of His infinite goodness, forbearance and patience, unaware that the goodness of God is gently drawing you to repentance?Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, dost thou despise? not knowing that the goodness of God doth lead thee to reformation!
Romans 2:5The fact is that in the stubbornness of your impenitent heart you are treasuring up against yourself anger on the day of Anger the day when the righteousness of God's judgements will stand revealed.But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; but, according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou dost treasure up to thyself wrath, in a day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
Romans 2:6To each man He will make an award corresponding to his actions;Who will render to every man according to his deeds: who shall render to each according to his works;
Romans 2:7to those on the one hand who, by lives of persistent right-doing, are striving for glory, honour and immortality, the Life of the Ages;To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: to those, indeed, who in continuance of a good work, do seek glory, and honour, and incorruptibility life age-during;
Romans 2:8while on the other hand upon the self-willed who disobey the truth and obey unrighteousness will fall anger and fury, affliction and awful distress,But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, and to those contentious, and disobedient, indeed, to the truth, and obeying the unrighteousness indignation and wrath,
Romans 2:9coming upon the soul of every man and woman who deliberately does wrong upon the Jew first, and then upon the Gentile;Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;
Romans 2:10whereas glory, honour and peace will be given to every one who does what is good and right to the Jew first and then to the Gentile.But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: and glory, and honour, and peace, to every one who is working the good, both to Jew first, and to Greek.
Romans 2:11For God pays no attention to this world's distinctions.For there is no respect of persons with God. For there is no acceptance of faces with God,
Romans 2:12For all who have sinned apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who have sinned whilst living under the Law, will be judged by the Law.For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; for as many as without law did sin, without law also shall perish, and as many as did sin in law, through law shall be judged,
Romans 2:13It is not those that merely hear the Law read who are righteous in the sight of God, but it is those that obey the Law who will be pronounced righteous.(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. for not the hearers of the law [are] righteous before God, but the doers of the law shall be declared righteous:
Romans 2:14For when Gentiles who have no Law obey by natural instinct the commands of the Law, they, without having a Law, are a Law to themselves;For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: For, when nations that have not a law, by nature may do the things of the law, these not having a law to themselves are a law;
Romans 2:15since they exhibit proof that a knowledge of the conduct which the Law requires is engraven on their hearts, while their consciences also bear witness to the Law, and their thoughts, as if in mutual discussion, accuse them or perhaps maintain their innocenceWhich shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) who do shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also witnessing with them, and between one another the thoughts accusing or else defending,
Romans 2:16on the day when God will judge the secrets of men's lives by Jesus Christ, as declared in the Good News as I have taught it.In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, through Jesus Christ.
Romans 2:17And since you claim the name of Jew, and find rest and satisfaction in the Law, and make your boast in God,Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, Lo, thou art named a Jew, and dost rest upon the law, and dost boast in God,
Romans 2:18and know the supreme will, and can test things that differ being a man who receives instruction from the LawAnd knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; and dost know the will, and dost approve the distinctions, being instructed out of the law,
Romans 2:19and have persuaded yourself that, as for you, you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of blind ones, a light of those in darkness,
Romans 2:20a schoolmaster for the dull and ignorant, a teacher of the young, because in the Law you possess an outline of real knowledge and an outline of the truth:An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. an instructor of foolish ones, a teacher of babes, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth in the law.
Romans 2:21you then who teach your fellow man, do you refuse to teach yourself? You who cry out against stealing, are you yourself a thief?Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou, then, who art teaching another, thyself dost thou not teach?
Romans 2:22You who forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you plunder their temples?Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? thou who art preaching not to steal, dost thou steal? thou who art saying not to commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou who art abhorring the idols, dost thou rob temples?
Romans 2:23You who make your boast in the Law, do you offend against its commands and so dishonour God?Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? thou who in the law dost boast, through the transgression of the law God dost thou dishonour?
Romans 2:24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentile nations because of you, as Holy Writ declares.For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. for the name of God because of you is evil spoken of among the nations, according as it hath been written.
Romans 2:25Circumcision does indeed profit, if you obey the Law; but if you are a Law-breaker, the fact that you have been circumcised counts for nothing.For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. For circumcision, indeed, doth profit, if law thou mayest practise, but if a transgressor of law thou mayest be, thy circumcision hath become uncircumcision.
Romans 2:26In the same way if an uncircumcised man pays attention to the just requirements of the Law, shall not his lack of circumcision be overlooked, and,Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? If, therefore the uncircumcision the righteousness of the law may keep, shall not his uncircumcision for circumcision be reckoned?
Romans 2:27although he is a Gentile by birth, if he scrupulously obeys the Law, shall he not sit in judgement upon you who, possessing, as you do, a written Law and circumcision, are yet a Law-breaker?And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? and the uncircumcision, by nature, fulfilling the law, shall judge thee who, through letter and circumcision, [art] a transgressor of law.
Romans 2:28For the true Jew is not the man who is simply a Jew outwardly, and true circumcision is not that which is outward and bodily.For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: For he is not a Jew who is [so] outwardly, neither [is] circumcision that which is outward in flesh;
Romans 2:29But the true Jew is one inwardly, and true circumcision is heart-circumcision not literal, but spiritual; and such people receive praise not from men, but from God.But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. but a Jew [is] he who is [so] inwardly, and circumcision [is] of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, of which the praise is not of men, but of God.
