John 14:1 | "Let not your hearts be troubled. Trust in God: trust in me also. | "Don't let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me. | Let not your heart be troubled: have faith in God and have faith in me. |
John 14:2 | In my Father's house there are many resting-places. Were it otherwise, I would have told you; for I am going to make ready a place for you. | In my Father's house are many mansions. If it weren't so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. | In my Father's house are rooms enough; if it was not so, would I have said that I am going to make ready a place for you? |
John 14:3 | And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will return and take you to be with me, that where I am you also may be. | If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you to myself; that where I am, you may be there also. | And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come back again and will take you to be with me, so that you may be where I am. |
John 14:4 | And where I am going, you all know the way." | Where I go, you know, and you know the way." | And you all have knowledge of where I am going, and of the way to it. |
John 14:5 | "Master," said Thomas, "we do not know where you are going. In what sense do we know the way?" | Thomas says to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?" | Thomas said, Lord, we have no knowledge of where you are going; how may we have knowledge of the way? |
John 14:6 | "I am the Way," replied Jesus, "and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. | Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by me. | Jesus said to him, I am the true and living way: no one comes to the Father but by me. |
John 14:7 | If you all of you knew me, you would fully know my Father also. From this time forward you know Him and have seen Him." | If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him." | If you had knowledge of me, you would have knowledge of my Father: you have knowledge of him now and have seen him. |
John 14:8 | "Master," said Philip, "cause us to see the Father: that is all we need." | Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." | Philip said to him, Lord, let us see the Father, and we have need of nothing more. |
John 14:9 | "Have I been so long among you," Jesus answered, "and yet you, Philip, do not know me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How can *you* ask me, `Cause us to see the Father'? | Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you such a long time, and do you not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father. How do you say, 'Show us the Father?' | Jesus said to him, Philip, have I been with you all this time, and still you have no knowledge of me? He who has seen me has seen the Father. Why do you say, Let us see the Father? |
John 14:10 | Do you not believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The things that I tell you all I do not speak on my own authority: but the Father dwelling within me carries on His own work. | Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I tell you, I speak not from myself; but the Father living in me does his works. | Have you not faith that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words which I say to you, I say not from myself: but the Father who is in me all the time does his works. |
John 14:11 | Believe me, all of you, that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me; or at any rate, believe me because of what I do. | Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me; or else believe me for the very works' sake. | Have faith that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me: at least, have faith in me because of what I do. |
John 14:12 | In most solemn truth I tell you that he who trusts in me the things which I do he shall do also; and greater things than these he shall do, because I am going to the Father. | Most assuredly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these will he do; because I am going to my Father. | Truly I say to you, He who puts his faith in me will do the very works which I do, and he will do greater things than these, because I am going to my Father. |
John 14:13 | And whatever any of you ask in my name, I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. | And whatever request you make in my name, that I will do, so that the Father may have glory in the Son. |
John 14:14 | If you make any request of me in my name, I will do it. | If you will ask anything in my name, that will I do. | If you make any request to me in my name, I will do it. |
John 14:15 | "If you love me, you will obey my commandments. | If you love me, keep my commandments. | If you have love for me, you will keep my laws. |
John 14:16 | And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be for ever with you the Spirit of truth. | I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever, | And I will make prayer to the Father and he will give you another Helper to be with you for ever, |
John 14:17 | That Spirit the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him. You know Him, because He remains by your side and is in you. | the Spirit of truth, whom the world can't receive; for it doesn't see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you. | Even the Spirit of true knowledge. That Spirit the world is not able to take to its heart because it sees him not and has no knowledge of him: but you have knowledge of him, because he is ever with you and will be in you. |
John 14:18 | I will not leave you bereaved: I am coming to you. | I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. | I will not let you be without a friend: I am coming to you. |
John 14:19 | Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me: because I live, you also shall live. | Yet a little while, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. | A little time longer, and the world will see me no more; but you will see me; and you will be living because I am living. |
John 14:20 | At that time you will know that I am in my Father, and that you are in me, and that I am in you. | In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. | At that time it will be clear to you that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I in you. |
John 14:21 | He who has my commandments and obeys them he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will clearly reveal myself to him." | Someone who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him." | He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him. |
John 14:22 | Judas (not the Iscariot) asked, "Master, how is it that you will reveal yourself clearly to us and not to the world?" | Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, what will happen that you will reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?" | Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, How is it that you will let yourself be seen clearly by us and not by the world? |
John 14:23 | "If any one loves me," replied Jesus, "he will obey my teaching; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. | Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. | Jesus said to him in answer, If anyone has love for me, he will keep my words: and he will be dear to my Father; and we will come to him and make our living-place with him. |
John 14:24 | He who has no love for me does not obey my teaching; and yet the teaching to which you are listening is not mine, but is the teaching of the Father who sent me. | He who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The word which you hear isn't mine, but the Father's who sent me. | He who has no love for me does not keep my words; and the word which you are hearing is not my word but the Father's who sent me. |
John 14:25 | "All this I have spoken to you while still with you. | I have said these things to you, while still living with you. | I have said all this to you while I am still with you. |
John 14:26 | But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will teach you everything, and will bring to your memories all that I have said to you. | But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your memory all that I said to you. | But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be your teacher in all things and will put you in mind of everything I have said to you. |
John 14:27 | Peace I leave with you: my own peace I give to you. It is not as the world gives its greetings that I give you peace. Let not your hearts be troubled or dismayed. | Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. | May peace be with you; my peace I give to you: I give it not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled; let it be without fear. |
John 14:28 | "You heard me say to you, `I am going away, and yet I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced because I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I am. | You heard how I told you, 'I go away, and I come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I said 'I am going to my Father;' for the Father is greater than I. | Keep in mind how I said to you, I go away and come to you again. If you had love for me you would be glad, because I am going to the Father: for the Father is greater than I. |
John 14:29 | I have now told you before it comes to pass, that when it has come to pass you may believe. | Now I have told you before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe. | And now I have given you word of it before it comes, so that, when it comes, you may have faith. |
John 14:30 | In future I shall not talk much with you, for the Prince of this world is coming. And yet in me he has nothing; | I will no more speak much with you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me. | After this I will not say much to you, because the ruler of this world comes: and he has no power over me; |
John 14:31 | but it is in order that the world may know that I love the Father, and that it is in obedience to the command which the Father gave me that I thus act. Rise, let us be going." | But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go from here. | But he comes so that the world may see that I have love for the Father, and that I am doing as I am ordered by the Father. Get up, and let us go. |
