Mark 11:1 | When they were getting near Jerusalem and had arrived at Bethphage and Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples on in front, with these instructions. | When they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, | And when they came near to Jerusalem, to Beth-phage and Bethany, at the Mountain of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, |
Mark 11:2 | "Go," He said, "to the village facing you, and immediately on entering it you will find an ass's foal tied up which no one has ever yet ridden: untie him and bring him here. | and said to them, "Go your way into the village that is opposite you. Immediately as you enter into it, you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Untie him, and bring him. | And said to them, Go into the little town opposite: and when you come to it, you will see a young ass with a cord round his neck, on which no man has ever been seated; let him loose, and come back with him. |
Mark 11:3 | And if any one asks you, `Why are you doing that?' say, `The Master needs it, and will send it back here without delay.'" | If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord needs him;' and immediately he will send him back here." | And if anyone says to you, Why are you doing this? say, The Lord has need of him and will send him back straight away. |
Mark 11:4 | So they went and found a young ass tied up at the front door of a house. They were untying it, | They went away, and found a colt tied at the door outside in the open street, and they untied him. | And they went away and saw a young ass by the door outside in the open street; and they were getting him loose. |
Mark 11:5 | when some of the bystanders called out, "What are you doing, untying the foal?" | Some of those who stood there asked them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?" | And some of those who were there said to them, What are you doing, taking the ass? |
Mark 11:6 | But on their giving the answer that Jesus had bidden them give, they let them take it. | They said to them just as Jesus had said, and they let them go. | And they said to them the words which Jesus had said; and they let them go. |
Mark 11:7 | So they brought the foal to Jesus, and threw their outer garments over him; and Jesus mounted. | They brought the colt to Jesus, and threw their garments on him, and Jesus sat on him. | And they took the young ass to Jesus, and put their clothing on him, and he got on his back. |
Mark 11:8 | Then many spread their outer garments to carpet the road, and others leafy branches which they had cut down in the fields; | Many spread their garments on the way, and others were cutting down branches from the trees, and spreading them on the road. | And a great number put down their clothing in the way; and others put down branches which they had taken from the fields. |
Mark 11:9 | while those who led the way and those who followed kept shouting "God save Him!" Blessed be He who comes in the Lord's name. | Those who went in front, and those who followed, cried, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! | And those who went in front, and those who came after, were crying, Glory: A blessing on him who comes in the name of the Lord: |
Mark 11:10 | Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our forefather David! God in the highest Heavens save Him!" | Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that is coming in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" | A blessing on the coming kingdom of our father David: Glory in the highest. |
Mark 11:11 | So He came into Jerusalem and into the Temple; and after looking round upon everything there, the hour being now late He went out to Bethany with the Twelve. | Jesus entered into the temple in Jerusalem. When he had looked around at everything, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. | And he went into Jerusalem into the Temple; and after looking round about on all things, it being now evening, he went out to Bethany with the twelve. |
Mark 11:12 | The next day, after they had left Bethany, He was hungry. | The next day, when they had come out from Bethany, he was hungry. | And on the day after, when they had come out from Bethany, he was in need of food. |
Mark 11:13 | But in the distance He saw a fig-tree in full leaf, and went to see whether perhaps He could find some figs on it. When however He came to it, He found nothing but leaves (for it was not fig time); | Seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came to see if perhaps he might find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. | And seeing a fig-tree in the distance with leaves, he went to see if by chance it had anything on it: and when he came to it, he saw nothing but leaves, for it was not the time for the fruit. |
Mark 11:14 | and He said to the tree, "Let no one ever again eat fruit from thee!" And His disciples heard this. | Jesus told it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" and his disciples heard it. | And he said to it, Let no man take fruit from you for ever. And his disciples took note of his words. |
Mark 11:15 | They reached Jerusalem, and entering the Temple He began to drive out the buyers and sellers, and upset the money-changers' tables and the stools of the pigeon-dealers, | They came to Jerusalem, and Jesus entered into the temple, and began to throw out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of those who sold the doves. | And they came to Jerusalem; and he went into the Temple, and sent out those who were trading there, overturning the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who were offering doves for money; |
Mark 11:16 | and would not allow any one to carry anything through the Temple. | He would not allow anyone to carry a container through the temple. | And he would not let any man take a vessel through the Temple. |
Mark 11:17 | And He remonstrated with them. "Is it not written," He said, "`My House shall be called The House of Prayer for all the nations?' But you have made it what it now is a robbers' cave." | He taught, saying to them, "Isn't it written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations?' But you have made it a den of robbers!" | And he gave them teaching, and said to them, Is it not in the Writings, My house is to be named a house of prayer for all the nations? but you have made it a hole of thieves. |
Mark 11:18 | This the High Priests and Scribes heard, and they began to devise means to destroy Him. For they were afraid of Him, because of the deep impression produced on all the people by His teaching. | The chief priests and the scribes heard it, and sought how they might destroy him. For they feared him, for all the multitude was astonished at his teaching. | And it came to the ears of the chief priests and scribes, and they took thought how they might put him to death; being in fear of him, because all the people were full of wonder at his teaching. |
Mark 11:19 | When evening came on, Jesus and His disciples used to leave the city. | When evening came, he went forth out of the city. | And every evening he went out of the town. |
Mark 11:20 | In the early morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig-tree withered to the roots; | As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. | And when they were going by in the morning, they saw the fig-tree dead from the roots. |
Mark 11:21 | and Peter, recollecting, said to Him, "Look, Rabbi, the fig-tree which you cursed is withered up." | Peter, remembering, said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away." | And Peter, having a memory of it, said to him, Master, see, the tree which was cursed by you is dead. |
Mark 11:22 | Jesus said to them, "Have faith in God. | Jesus answering said to them, "Have faith in God. | And Jesus, answering, said to them, Have God's faith. |
Mark 11:23 | In solemn truth I tell you that if any one shall say to this mountain, `Remove, and hurl thyself into the sea,' and has no doubt about it in his heart, but stedfastly believes that what he says will happen, it shall be granted him. | For most assuredly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and doesn't doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says happens; he shall have whatever he says. | Truly I say to you, Whoever says to this mountain, Be taken up and be put into the sea; and has no doubt in his heart, but has faith that what he says will come about, he will have his desire. |
Mark 11:24 | That is why I tell you, as to whatever you pray and make request for, if you believe that you have received it it shall be yours. | Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. | For this reason I say to you, Whatever you make a request for in prayer, have faith that it has been given to you, and you will have it. |
Mark 11:25 | But whenever you stand praying, if you have a grievance against any one, forgive it, so that your Father in Heaven may also forgive you your offences." | Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions. | And whenever you make a prayer, let there be forgiveness in your hearts, if you have anything against anyone; so that you may have forgiveness for your sins from your Father who is in heaven. |
Mark 11:26 | [] | But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions." | [] |
Mark 11:27 | They came again to Jerusalem; and as He was walking in the Temple, the High Priests, Scribes and Elders came to Him | They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders came to him, | And they came again to Jerusalem: and while he was walking in the Temple, there came to him the chief priests and the scribes and those in authority: |
Mark 11:28 | and asked, "By what authority are you doing these things? and who gave you authority to do them?" | and they were asking him, "By what authority do you these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?" | And they said to him, By what authority do you do these things? or who gave you authority to do these things? |
Mark 11:29 | "And I will put a question to you," replied Jesus; "answer me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. | Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question. Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. | And Jesus said to them, I will put to you one question; give me an answer, and I will say by what authority I do these things. |
Mark 11:30 | John's Baptism was it of Heavenly or of human origin? Answer me." | The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or from men? Answer me." | The baptism of John, was it from heaven or from men? give me an answer. |
Mark 11:31 | So they debated the matter with one another. "Suppose we say, `Heavenly,'" they argued, "he will ask, `Why then did you not believe him?' | They reasoned with themselves, saying, "If we should say, 'From heaven;' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?' | And they gave thought to it among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did you not have faith in him? |
Mark 11:32 | Or should we say, `human?'" They were afraid of the people; for all agreed in holding John to have been really a Prophet. | If we should say, 'From men'" they feared the people, for all held John to really be a prophet. | But if we say, From men they were in fear of the people, because all took John to be truly a prophet. |
Mark 11:33 | So they answered Jesus, "We do not know." "Nor do I tell you," said Jesus, "by what authority I do these things." | They answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things." | And they said in answer to Jesus, We have no idea. And Jesus said to them, And I will not say to you by what authority I do these things. |
