Matthew 28:1After the Sabbath, in the early dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary came to see the sepulchre.Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.Now late on the Sabbath, when the dawn of the first day of the week was near, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the place where his body was.
Matthew 28:2But to their amazement there had been a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord had descended from Heaven, and had come and rolled back the stone, and was sitting upon it.Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it.And there was a great earth-shock; for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, rolling back the stone, took his seat on it.
Matthew 28:3His appearance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.His form was shining like the light, and his clothing was white as snow:
Matthew 28:4For fear of him the guards trembled violently, and became like dead men.For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.And for fear of him the watchmen were shaking, and became as dead men.
Matthew 28:5But the angel said to the women, "As for you, dismiss your fears. I know that it is Jesus that you are looking for the crucified One.The angel answered the women, "Don't be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.And the angel said to the women, Have no fear: for I see that you are searching for Jesus, who was put to death on the cross.
Matthew 28:6He is not here: He has come back to life, as He foretold. Come and see the place where He lay.He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.He is not here, for he has come to life again, even as he said. Come, see the Lord's resting-place.
Matthew 28:7And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead and is going before you into Galilee: there you shall see Him. Remember, I have told you."Go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.' Behold, I have told you."And go quickly and give his disciples the news that he has come back from the dead, and is going before you into Galilee; there you will see him, as I have said to you.
Matthew 28:8They quickly left the tomb and ran, still terrified but full of unspeakable joy, to carry the news to His disciples.They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.And they went away quickly, with fear and great joy, to give his disciples the news.
Matthew 28:9And then suddenly they saw Jesus coming to meet them. "Peace be to you," He said. And they came and clasped His feet, bowing to the ground before Him.As they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" They came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.And on the way, Jesus came to them, saying, Be glad. And they came and put their hands on his feet, and gave him worship.
Matthew 28:10Then He said, "Dismiss all fear! Go and take word to my brethren to go into Galilee, and there they shall see me."Then Jesus said to them, "Don't be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they may go into Galilee, and there they will see me."Then said Jesus to them, Have no fear: go and give word to my brothers to go into Galilee, and there they will see me.
Matthew 28:11While they went on this errand, some of the guards came into the city and reported to the High Priests every detail of what had happened.Now while they were going, behold, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all the things that had happened.Now, while they were going, some of the watchmen came into the town and gave news to the chief priests of all the things which had taken place.
Matthew 28:12So the latter held a conference with the Elders, and after consultation with them they heavily bribed the soldiers,When they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,And when they had come together with those in authority, and had made their decision, they gave much money to the watchmen, saying,
Matthew 28:13telling them to say, "His disciples came during the night and stole his body while we were asleep."saying, "Say that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.Say, His disciples came by night and took him away secretly while we were sleeping.
Matthew 28:14"And if this," they added, "is reported to the Governor, we will satisfy him and screen you from punishment."If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry."And if this comes to the ruler's ears, we will see that he does not make you responsible.
Matthew 28:15So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this story was noised about among the Jews, and is current to this day.So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Jews, and continues until this day.So they took the money, and did as they had been ordered: and this account has been current among the Jews till the present time.
Matthew 28:16As for the eleven disciples, they proceeded into Galilee, to the hill where Jesus had arranged to meet them.But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them.But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had given them orders to go.
Matthew 28:17There they saw Him and prostrated themselves before Him. Yet some doubted.When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.And when they saw him they gave him worship: but some were in doubt.
Matthew 28:18Jesus however came near and said to them, "All power in Heaven and over the earth has been given to me.Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.And Jesus came to them and said, All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
Matthew 28:19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations; baptize them into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;Go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,Go then, and make disciples of all the nations, giving them baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:
Matthew 28:20and teach them to obey every command which I have given you. And remember, I am with you always, day by day, until the Close of the Age."teaching them to observe all things which I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.Teaching them to keep all the rules which I have given you: and see, I am ever with you, even to the end of the world.
