Matthew 8:3 | So Jesus put out His hand and touched him, and said, "I am willing: be cleansed." Instantly he was cleansed from his leprosy; | Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, "I want to. Be made clean." Matthew 8:8 | "Sir," replied the Captain, "I am not a fit person to receive you under my roof: merely say the word, and my servant will be cured. | The centurion answered, "Lord, I'm not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant will be healed. | And the captain in answer said, Lord, I am not good enough for you to come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be made well. |
Matthew 8:9 | For I myself am also under authority, and have soldiers under me. To one I say `Go,' and he goes, to another `Come,' and he comes, and to my slave `Do this or that,' and he does it." | For I am also a man under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." | Because I myself am a man under authority, having under me fighting men; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it. |
Matthew 8:10 | Jesus listened to this reply, and was astonished, and said to the people following Him, "I solemnly tell you that in no Israelite have I found faith as great as this. | When Jesus heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, "Most assuredly I tell you, I haven't found so great a faith, not even in Israel. | And when these words came to the ears of Jesus he was surprised, and said to those who came after him, Truly I say to you, I have not seen such great faith, no, not in Israel. |
Matthew 8:11 | And I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west and will recline at table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the Kingdom of the Heavens, | I tell you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the Kingdom of Heaven, | And I say to you that numbers will come from the east and the west, and will take their seats with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven: |
Matthew 8:12 | while the natural heirs of the Kingdom will be driven out into the darkness outside: there will be the weeping aloud and the gnashing of teeth." | but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and the gnashing of teeth." | But the sons of the kingdom will be put out into the dark, and there will be weeping and cries of pain. |
Matthew 8:13 | And Jesus said to the Captain, "Go, and just as you have believed, so be it for you." And the servant recovered precisely at that time. | Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way. Let it be done for you as you as you have believed." His servant was healed in that hour. | And Jesus said to the captain, Go in peace; as your faith is, so let it be done to you. And the servant was made well in that hour. |
Matthew 8:14 | After this Jesus went to the house of Peter, whose mother-in-law he found ill in bed with fever. | When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying sick of a fever. | And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother in bed, very ill. |
Matthew 8:15 | He touched her hand and the fever left her: and then she rose and waited upon Him. | He touched her hand, and the fever left her. She got up and served him. | And he put his hand on hers and the disease went from her, and she got up and took care of his needs. |
Matthew 8:16 | In the evening many demoniacs were brought to Him, and with a word He expelled the demons; and He cured all the sick, | When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; | And in the evening, they took to him a number of people who had evil spirits; and he sent the spirits out of them with a word, and made well all who were ill; |
Matthew 8:17 | in order that this prediction of the Prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled, "He took on Him our weaknesses, and bore the burden of our diseases." | that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases." | So that the word of Isaiah the prophet might come true: He himself took our pains and our diseases. |
Matthew 8:18 | Seeing great crowds about Him Jesus had given directions to cross to the other side of the Lake, | Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave the order to depart to the other side. | Now when Jesus saw a great mass of people about him, he gave an order to go to the other side. |

Matthew 8:20 | "Foxes have holes," replied Jesus, "and birds have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." | Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." | And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have a resting-place; but the Son of man has nowhere to put his head. |
Matthew 8:21 | Another of the disciples said to Him, "Sir, allow me first to go and bury my father." | Another of his disciples said to him, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father." | And another of the disciples said to him, Lord, let me first go and give the last honours to my father. |
Matthew 8:22 | "Follow me," said Jesus, "and leave the dead to bury their own dead." | But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead." | But Jesus said to him, Come after me; and let the dead take care of their dead. |
Matthew 8:23 | Then He went on board a fishing-boat, and His disciples followed Him. | When he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. | And when he had got into a boat, his disciples went after him. |
Matthew 8:24 | But suddenly there arose a great storm on the Lake, so that the waves threatened to engulf the boat; but He was asleep. | Behold, a great tempest arose in the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves, but he was asleep. | And there came up a great storm in the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves: but he was sleeping. |
Matthew 8:25 | So they came and woke Him, crying, "Master, save us, we are drowning!" | They came to him, and woke him up, saying, "Save us, Lord! We are dying!" | And they came to him, and, awaking him, said, Help, Lord; destruction is near. |
Matthew 8:26 | "Why are you so easily frightened," He replied, "you men of little faith?" Then He rose and reproved the winds and the waves, and there was a perfect calm; | He said to them, "Why are you fearful, oh you of little faith?" Then he got up, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm. | And he said to them, Why are you full of fear, O you of little faith? Then he got up and gave orders to the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. |
Matthew 8:27 | and the men, filled with amazement, exclaimed, "What kind of man is this? for the very winds and waves obey him!" | The men marveled, saying, "What kind of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?" | And the men were full of wonder, saying, What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea do his orders? |
Matthew 8:28 | On His arrival at the other side, in the country of the Gadarenes, there met Him two men possessed by demons, coming from among the tombs: they were so dangerously fierce that no one was able to pass that way. | When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, two people possessed with demons met him there, coming forth out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no man could pass by that way. | And when he had come to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes, there came out to him from the place of the dead, two who had evil spirits, so violent that no man was able to go that way. |
Matthew 8:29 | They cried aloud, "What hast Thou to do with us, Thou Son of God? Hast Thou come here to torment us before the time?" | Behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?" | And they gave a loud cry, saying, What have we to do with you, you Son of God? Have you come here to give us punishment before the time? |
Matthew 8:30 | Now at some distance from them a vast herd of swine were feeding. | Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them. | Now there was, some distance away, a great herd of pigs taking their food. |
Matthew 8:31 | So the demons entreated Him. "If Thou drivest us out," they said, "send us into the herd of swine." | The demons begged him, saying, "If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs." | And the evil spirits made strong prayers to him, saying, If you send us out, let us go into the herd of pigs. |
Matthew 8:32 | "Go," He replied. Then they came out from the men and went into the swine, whereupon the entire herd instantly rushed down the cliff into the Lake and perished in the water. | He said to them, "Go!" They came out, and went into the herd of pigs: and behold, the whole herd of pigs rushed down the cliff into the sea, and died in the water. | And he said to them, Go. And they came out, and went into the pigs; and the herd went rushing down a sharp slope into the sea and came to their end in the water. |
Matthew 8:33 | The swineherds fled, and went and told the whole story in the town, including what had happened to the demoniacs. | Those who fed them fled, and went away into the city, and told everything, and what happened to those who were possessed with demons. | And their keepers went in flight to the town and gave an account of everything, and of the men who had the evil spirits. |
Matthew 8:34 | So at once the whole population came out to meet Jesus; and when they saw Him, they besought Him to leave their country. | Behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus. When they saw him, they begged that he would depart from their borders. | And all the town came out to Jesus; and seeing him they made request that he would go away from their part of the country. |
