John 2:1 | Two days later there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there, | The third day, there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there. | And the third day a marriage happened in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there, |
John 2:2 | and Jesus also was invited and His disciples. | Jesus also was invited, with his disciples, to the marriage. | and also Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage; |
John 2:3 | Now the wine ran short; whereupon the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." | When the wine ran out, Jesus' Mother said to him, "They have no wine." | and wine having failed, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, `Wine they have not;` |
John 2:4 | "Leave the matter in my hands," He replied; "the time for me to act has not yet come." | Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does that have to do with you and me? My hour has not yet come." | Jesus saith to her, `What to me and to thee, woman? not yet is mine hour come.` |
John 2:5 | His mother said to the attendants, "Whatever he tells you to do, do it." | His mother said to the servants, "Whatever he says to you, do it." | His mother saith to the ministrants, `Whatever he may say to you do.` |
John 2:6 | Now there were six stone jars standing there (in accordance with the Jewish regulations for purification), each large enough to hold twenty gallons or more. | Now there were six water pots of stone set there after the Jews' manner of purifying, containing two or three metretes apiece. | And there were there six water-jugs of stone, placed according to the purifying of the Jews, holding each two or three measures. |
John 2:7 | Jesus said to the attendants, "Fill the jars with water." And they filled them to the brim. | Jesus said to them, "Fill the water pots with water." They filled them up to the brim. | Jesus saith to them, `Fill the water-jugs with water;` and they filled them unto the brim; |
John 2:8 | Then He said, "Now, take some out, and carry it to the President of the feast." | He said to them, "Now draw some out, and take it to the ruler of the feast." They took it. | and he saith to them, `Draw out, now, and bear to the director of the apartment;` and they bare. |
John 2:9 | So they carried some to him. And no sooner had the President tasted the water now turned into wine, than not knowing where it came from, though the attendants who had drawn the water knew he called to the bridegroom | When the ruler of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and didn't know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast called the bridegroom, | And as the director of the apartment tasted the water become wine, and knew not whence it is, (but the ministrants knew, who have drawn the water,) the director of the feast doth call the bridegroom, |
John 2:10 | and said to him, "It is usual to put on the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then that which is inferior. But you have kept the good wine till now." | and said to him, "Everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!" | and saith to him, `Every man, at first, the good wine doth set forth; and when they may have drunk freely, then the inferior; thou didst keep the good wine till now.` |
John 2:11 | This, the first of His miracles, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee, and thus displayed His glorious power; and His disciples believed in Him. | This beginning of his signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory. His disciples believed in him. | This beginning of the signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed in him; |
John 2:12 | Afterwards He went down to Capernaum He, and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and they made a short stay there. | After this, he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples; and there they stayed not many days. | after this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and there they remained not many days. |
John 2:13 | But the Jewish Passover was approaching, and for this Jesus went up to Jerusalem. | The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. | And the passover of the Jews was nigh, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, |
John 2:14 | And He found in the Temple the dealers in cattle and sheep and in pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. | He found in the temple those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting. | and he found in the temple those selling oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the money-changers sitting, |
John 2:15 | So He plaited a whip of rushes, and drove all both sheep and bullocks out of the Temple. The small coin of the brokers He upset on the ground and overturned their tables. | He made a whip of cords, and threw all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and overthrew their tables. | and having made a whip of small cords, he put all forth out of the temple, also the sheep, and the oxen; and of the money-changers he poured out the coins, and the tables he overthrew, |
John 2:16 | And to the pigeon-dealers He said, "Take these things away. Do not turn my Father's house into a market." | To those who sold the doves, he said, "Take these things out of here! Don't make my Father's house a marketplace!" | and to those selling the doves he said, `Take these things hence; make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.` |
John 2:17 | This recalled to His disciples the words of Scripture, "My zeal for Thy House will consume me." | His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will eat me up." | And his disciples remembered that it is written, `The zeal of Thy house did eat me up;` |
John 2:18 | So the Jews asked Him, "What proof of your authority do you exhibit to us, seeing that you do these things?" | The Jews therefore answered him, "What sign do you show to us, seeing that you do these things?" | the Jews then answered and said to him, `What sign dost thou shew to us that thou dost these things?` |
John 2:19 | "Demolish this Sanctuary," said Jesus, "and in three days I will rebuild it." | Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." | Jesus answered and said to them, `Destroy this sanctuary, and in three days I will raise it up.` |
John 2:20 | "It has taken forty-six years," replied the Jews, "to build this Sanctuary, and will you rebuild it in three days?" | The Jews therefore said, "Forty-six years was this temple in building, and will you raise it up in three days?" | The Jews, therefore, said, `Forty and six years was this sanctuary building, and wilt thou in three days raise it up?` |
John 2:21 | But He was speaking of the Sanctuary of His body. | But he spoke of the temple of his body. | but he spake concerning the sanctuary of his body; |
John 2:22 | When however He had risen from among the dead, His disciples recollected that He had said this; and they believed the Scripture and the teaching which Jesus had given them. | When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. | when, then, he was raised out of the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this to them, and they believed the Writing, and the word that Jesus said. |
John 2:23 | Now when He was in Jerusalem, at the Festival of the Passover, many became believers in Him through watching the miracles He performed. | Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, observing his signs which he did. | And as he was in Jerusalem, in the passover, in the feast, many believed in his name, beholding his signs that he was doing; |
John 2:24 | But for His part, Jesus did not trust Himself to them, because He knew them all, | But Jesus didn't trust himself to them, because he knew all people, | and Jesus himself was not trusting himself to them, because of his knowing all [men], |
John 2:25 | and did not need any one's testimony concerning a man, for He of Himself knew what was in the man. | and because he didn't need for anyone to testify concerning man; for he himself knew what was in man. | and because he had no need that any should testify concerning man, for he himself was knowing what was in man. |
