Ephesians 5:1Therefore be imitators of God, as His dear children.Become, then, followers of God, as children beloved,Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children,
Ephesians 5:2And live and act lovingly, as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up to death on our behalf as an offering and sacrifice to God, yielding a fragrant odor.and walk in love, as also the Christ did love us, and did give himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odour of a sweet smell,and walk in love, even as the Christ loved us, and delivered himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.
Ephesians 5:3But fornication and every kind of impurity, or covetousness, let them not even be mentioned among you, for they ought not to be named among God's people.and whoredom, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as becometh saints;But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;
Ephesians 5:4Avoid shameful and foolish talk and low jesting they are all alike discreditable and in place of these give thanks.also filthiness, and foolish talking, or jesting, the things not fit but rather thanksgiving;and filthiness and foolish talking, or jesting, which are not convenient; but rather thanksgiving.
Ephesians 5:5For be well assured that no fornicator or immoral person and no money-grubber or in other words idol-worshipper has any share awaiting him in the Kingdom of Christ and of God.for this ye know, that every whoremonger, or unclean, or covetous person, who is an idolater, hath no inheritance in the reign of the Christ and God.For this ye are [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or unclean person, or person of unbridled lust, who is an idolater, has inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.
Ephesians 5:6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming upon the disobedient.Let no one deceive you with vain words, for because of these things cometh the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience,Let no one deceive you with vain words, for on account of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
Ephesians 5:7Therefore do not become sharers with them.become not, then, partakers with them,Be not ye therefore fellow-partakers with them;
Ephesians 5:8There was a time when you were nothing but darkness. Now, as Christians, you are Light itself.for ye were once darkness, and now light in the Lord; as children of light walk ye,for ye were once darkness, but now light in [the] Lord; walk as children of light,
Ephesians 5:9Live and act as sons of Light for the effect of the Light is seen in every kind of goodness, uprightness and truthfor the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth,(for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth,)
Ephesians 5:10and learn in your own experiences what is fully pleasing to the Lord.proving what is well-pleasing to the Lord,proving what is agreeable to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:11Have nothing to do with the barren unprofitable deeds of darkness, but, instead of that, set your faces against them;and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of the darkness and rather even convict,and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove [them],
Ephesians 5:12for the things which are done by these people in secret it is disgraceful even to speak of.for the things in secret done by them it is a shame even to speak of,for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say.
Ephesians 5:13But everything can be tested by the light and thus be shown in its true colors; for whatever shines of itself is light.and all the things reproved by the light are manifested, for everything that is manifested is light;But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:14For this reason it is said, "Rise, sleeper; rise from among the dead, and Christ will shed light upon you."wherefore he saith, `Arouse thyself, thou who art sleeping, and arise out of the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.`Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.
Ephesians 5:15Therefore be very careful how you live and act. Let it not be as unwise men, but as wise.See, then, how exactly ye walk, not as unwise, but as wise,See therefore how ye walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise,
Ephesians 5:16Buy up your opportunities, for these are evil times.redeeming the time, because the days are evil;redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:17On this account do not prove yourselves wanting in sense, but try to understand what the Lord's will is.because of this become not fools, but understanding what [is] the will of the Lord,For this reason be not foolish, but understanding what [is] the will of the Lord.
Ephesians 5:18Do not over-indulge in wine a thing in which excess is so easyand be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled in the Spirit,And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,
Ephesians 5:19but drink deeply of God's Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and offer praise in your hearts to the Lord.speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and chanting with your heart to the Lord;
Ephesians 5:20Always and for everything let your thanks to God the Father be presented in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the God and Father;giving thanks at all times for all things to him [who is] God and [the] Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Ephesians 5:21and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of God.submitting yourselves to one another in [the] fear of Christ.
Ephesians 5:22Married women, submit to your own husbands as if to the Lord;The wives! to your own husbands subject yourselves, as to the Lord,Wives, [submit yourselves] to your own husbands, as to the Lord,
Ephesians 5:23because a husband is the Head of his wife as Christ also is the Head of the Church, being indeed the Saviour of this His Body.because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ [is] head of the assembly, and he is saviour of the body,for a husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ [is] head of the assembly. *He* [is] Saviour of the body.
Ephesians 5:24And just as the Church submits to Christ, so also married women should be entirely submissive to their husbands.but even as the assembly is subject to Christ, so also [are] the wives to their own husbands in everything.But even as the assembly is subjected to the Christ, so also wives to their own husbands in everything.
Ephesians 5:25Married men, love your wives, as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself up to death for her;The husbands! love your own wives, as also the Christ did love the assembly, and did give himself for it,Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it,
Ephesians 5:26in order to make her holy, cleansing her with the baptismal water by the word,that he might sanctify it, having cleansed [it] with the bathing of the water in the saying,in order that he might sanctify it, purifying [it] by the washing of water by [the] word,
Ephesians 5:27that He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished.that he might present it to himself the assembly in glory, not having spot or wrinkle, or any of such things, but that it may be holy and unblemished;that *he* might present the assembly to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of such things; but that it might be holy and blameless.
Ephesians 5:28So too married men ought to love their wives as much as they love themselves. He who loves his wife loves himself.so ought the husbands to love their own wives as their own bodies: he who is loving his own wife himself he doth love;So ought men also to love their own wives as their own bodies: he that loves his own wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5:29For never yet has a man hated his own body. On the contrary he feeds and cherishes it, just as Christ feeds and cherishes the Church;for no one ever his own flesh did hate, but doth nourish and cherish it, as also the Lord the assembly,For no one has ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Christ the assembly:
Ephesians 5:30because we are, as it were, parts of His Body.because members we are of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones;for we are members of his body; [we are of his flesh, and of his bones.]
Ephesians 5:31"For this reason a man is to leave his father and his mother and be united to his wife, and the two shall be as one."`for this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they shall be the two for one flesh;`Because of this a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.
Ephesians 5:32That is a great truth hitherto kept secret: I mean the truth concerning Christ and the Church.this secret is great, and I speak in regard to Christ and to the assembly;This mystery is great, but *I* speak as to Christ, and as to the assembly.
Ephesians 5:33Yet I insist that among you also, each man is to love his own wife as much as he loves himself, and let a married woman see to it that she treats her husband with respect.but ye also, every one in particular let each his own wife so love as himself, and the wife that she may reverence the husband.But *ye* also, every one of you, let each so love his own wife as himself; but as to the wife [I speak] that she may fear the husband.
