John 7:1After this Jesus moved from place to place in Galilee. He would not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were seeking an opportunity to kill Him.And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for he did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him,And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2But the Jewish Festival of the Tent-Pitching was approaching.and the feast of the Jews was nigh that of tabernaclesNow the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near.
John 7:3So His brothers said to Him, "Leave these parts and go into Judaea, that not only we but your disciples also may witness the miracles which you perform.his brethren, therefore, said unto him, `Remove hence, and go away to Judea, that thy disciples also may behold thy works that thou dost;His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest;
John 7:4For no one acts in secret, desiring all the while to be himself known publicly. Since you are doing these things, show yourself openly to the world."for no one in secret doth anything, and himself seeketh to be in public; if thou dost these things manifest thyself to the world;`for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be [known] in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:
John 7:5For even His brothers were not believers in Him.for not even were his brethren believing in him.for neither did his brethren believe on him.
John 7:6"My time," replied Jesus, "has not yet come, but for you any time is suitable.Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7It is impossible for the world to hate you; but me it does hate, because I give testimony concerning it that its conduct is evil.the world is not able to hate you, but me it doth hate, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil. The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.
John 7:8As for you, go up to the Festival. I do not now go up to this Festival, because my time is not yet fully come."Ye go ye up to this feast; I do not yet go up to this feast, because my time hath not yet been fulfilled;`Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for *my* time is not yet fulfilled.
John 7:9Such was His answer, and He remained in Galilee.and saying these things to them, he remained in Galilee.Having said these things to them he abode in Galilee.
John 7:10When however His brothers had gone up to the Festival, then He also went up, not openly, but as it were privately. And when his brethren went up, then also he himself went up to the feast, not manifestly, but as in secret; But when his brethren had gone up, then he himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret.
John 7:11Meanwhile the Jews at the Festival were looking for Him and were inquiring, "Where is he?"the Jews, therefore, were seeking him, in the feast, and said, `Where is that one?`The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
John 7:12Among the mass of the people there was much muttered debate about Him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so: he is imposing on the people."and there was much murmuring about him among the multitudes, some indeed said `He is good;` and others said, `No, but he leadeth astray the multitude;`And there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is [a] good [man]; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.
John 7:13Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke out boldly about Him.no one, however, was speaking freely about him, through fear of the Jews. However, no one spoke openly concerning him on account of [their] fear of the Jews.
John 7:14But when the Festival was already half over, Jesus went up to the Temple and commenced teaching. And it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up to the temple, and he was teaching,But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15The Jews were astonished. "How does this man know anything of books," they said, "although he has never been at any of the schools?"and the Jews were wondering, saying, `How hath this one known letters not having learned?`The Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this [man] letters, having never learned?
John 7:16Jesus answered their question by saying, "My teaching does not belong to me, but comes from Him who sent me.Jesus answered them and said, `My teaching is not mine, but His who sent me;Jesus therefore answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but [that] of him that has sent me.
John 7:17If any one is willing to do His will, he shall know about the teaching, whether it is from God or originates with me.if any one may will to do His will, he shall know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or I do speak from myself. If any one desire to practise his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or [that] I speak from myself.
John 7:18The man whose teaching originates with himself aims at his own glory. He who aims at the glory of Him who sent him teaches the truth, and there is no deception in him.`He who is speaking from himself his own glory doth seek, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he that seeks the glory of him that has sent him, he is true, and unrighteousness is not in him.
John 7:19Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not a man of you obeys the Law. Why do you want to kill me?"hath not Moses given you the law? and none of you doth the law; why me do ye seek to kill?`Has not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?
John 7:20"You are possessed by a demon," replied the crowd; "no one wants to kill you."The multitude answered and said, `Thou hast a demon, who doth seek to kill thee?`The crowd answered [and said], Thou hast a demon: who seeks to kill thee?
John 7:21"One deed I have done," replied Jesus, "and you are all full of wonder.Jesus answered and said to them, `One work I did, and ye all wonder,Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all wonder.
John 7:22Consider therefore. Moses gave you the rite of circumcision (not that it began with Moses, but with your earlier forefathers), and even on a Sabbath day you circumcise a child.because of this, Moses hath given you the circumcision not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers and on a sabbath ye circumcise a man; Therefore Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye circumcise a man on sabbath.
John 7:23If a child is circumcised even on a Sabbath day, are you bitter against me because I have restored a man to perfect health on a Sabbath day?if a man doth receive circumcision on a sabbath that the law of Moses may not be broken, are ye wroth with me that I made a man all whole on a sabbath? If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath?
John 7:24Do not form superficial judgements, but form the judgements that are just."judge not according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.`Judge not according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.
John 7:25Some however of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man they are wanting to kill?Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, `Is not this he whom they are seeking to kill? Some therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26But here he is, speaking openly and boldly, and they say nothing to him! Can the Rulers really have ascertained that this man is the Christ?and, lo, he doth speak freely, and they say nothing to him; did the rulers at all know truly that this is truly the Christ?and behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers then indeed recognised that this is the Christ?
John 7:27And yet we know this man, and we know where he is from; but as for the Christ, when He comes, no one can tell where He is from."but this one we have known whence he is; and the Christ, when he doth come, no one doth know whence he is.`But [as to] this [man] we know whence he is. Now [as to] the Christ, when he comes, no one knows whence he is.
John 7:28Jesus therefore, while teaching in the Temple, cried aloud, and said, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. And yet I have not come of my own accord; but there is One who has sent me, an Authority indeed, of whom you have no knowledge.Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, `Ye have both known me, and ye have known whence I am; and I have not come of myself, but He who sent me is true, whom ye have not known;Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.
John 7:29I know Him, because I came from Him, and He sent me."and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He did send me.`I know him, because I am from him, and *he* has sent me.
John 7:30On hearing this they wanted to arrest Him; yet not a hand was laid on Him, because His time had not yet come. They were seeking, therefore, to seize him, and no one laid the hand on him, because his hour had not yet come,They sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.
John 7:31But from among the crowd a large number believed in Him. "When the Christ comes," they said, "will He perform more miracles than this teacher has performed?"and many out of the multitude did believe in him, and said `The Christ when he may come will he do more signs than these that this one did?`But many of the crowd believed on him, and said, Will the Christ, when he comes, do more signs than those which this [man] has done?
John 7:32The Pharisees heard the people thus expressing their various doubts about Him, and the High Priests and the Pharisees sent some officers to apprehend Him.The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take him;The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they might take him.
John 7:33So Jesus said, "Still for a short time I am with you, and then I go my way to Him who sent me.Jesus, therefore, said to them, `Yet a little time I am with you, and I go away unto Him who sent me;Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go to him that has sent me.
John 7:34You will look for me and will not find me, and where I am you cannot come."ye will seek me, and ye shall not find; and where I am, ye are not able to come.`Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me], and where I am ye cannot come.
John 7:35The Jews therefore said to one another, "Where is he about to betake himself, so that we shall not find him? Will he betake himself to the Dispersion among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, `Whither is this one about to go that we shall not find him? to the dispersion of the Greeks is he about to go? and to teach the Greeks; The Jews therefore said to one another, Where is he about to go that we shall not find him? Is he about to go to the dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What do those words of his mean, `You will look for me, but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come'?"what is this word that he said, Ye will seek me, and ye shall not find? and, Where I am, ye are not able to come?`What word is this which he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me]; and where I am ye cannot come?
John 7:37On the last day of the Festival the great day Jesus stood up and cried aloud. "Whoever is thirsty," He said, "let him come to me and drink. And in the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, `If any one doth thirst, let him come unto me and drink; In the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink.
John 7:38He who believes in me, from within him as the Scripture has said rivers of living water shall flow."he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;`He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
John 7:39He referred to the Spirit which those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not bestowed as yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.and this he said of the Spirit, which those believing in him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified. But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for [the] Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.
John 7:40After listening to these discourses, some of the crowd began to say, "This is beyond doubt the Prophet."Many, therefore out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, `This is truly the Prophet;`[Some] out of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet.
John 7:41Others said, "He is the Christ." But others again, "Not so, for is the Christ to come from Galilee?others said, `This is the Christ;` and others said, `Why, out of Galilee doth the Christ come?Others said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Has not the Scripture declared that the Christ is to come of the family of David and from Bethlehem, David's village?"Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem the village where David was the Christ doth come?`Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?
John 7:43So there was a violent dissension among the people on His account.A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of him. There was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.
John 7:44Some of them wanted at once to arrest Him, but no one laid hands upon Him.And certain of them were willing to seize him, but no one laid hands on him;But some of them desired to take him, but no one laid hands upon him.
John 7:45Meanwhile the officers returned to the High Priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why have you not brought him?"the officers came, therefore, unto the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, `Wherefore did ye not bring him?`The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?
John 7:46"No mere man has ever spoken as this man speaks," said the officers. The officers answered, `Never so spake man as this man.`The officers answered, Never man spoke thus, as this man [speaks].
John 7:47"Are *you* deluded too?" replied the Pharisees; The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, `Have ye also been led astray? The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?
John 7:48"has any one of the Rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?did any one out of the rulers believe in him? or out of the Pharisees?Has any one of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But this rabble who understand nothing about the Law are accursed!"but this multitude, that is not knowing the law, is accursed.`But this crowd, which does not know the law, are accursed.
John 7:50Nicodemus interposed he who had formerly gone to Jesus, being himself one of them.Nicodemus saith unto them he who came by night unto him being one of them,Nicodemus says to them (being one of themselves),
John 7:51"Does our Law," he asked, "judge a man without first hearing what he has to say and ascertaining what his conduct is?"`Doth our law judge the man, if it may not hear from him first, and know what he doth?`Does our law judge a man before it have first heard from himself, and know what he does?
John 7:52"Do you also come from Galilee?" they asked in reply. "Search and see for yourself that no Prophet is of Galilaean origin."They answered and said to him, `Art thou also out of Galilee? search and see, that a prophet out of Galilee hath not risen;`They answered and said to him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, that no prophet arises out of Galilee.
John 7:53[So they went away to their several homes;and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the mount of the Olives. And every one went to his home.
