Luke 21:1 | Looking up He saw the people throwing their gifts into the Treasury the rich people. | And having looked up, he saw those who did cast their gifts to the treasury rich men, | And he looked up and saw the rich casting their gifts into the treasury; |
Luke 21:2 | He also saw a poor widow dropping in two farthings, | and he saw also a certain poor widow casting there two mites, | but he saw also a certain poor widow casting therein two mites. |
Luke 21:3 | and He said, "In truth I tell you that this widow, so poor, has thrown in more than any of them. | and he said, `Truly I say to you, that this poor widow did cast in more than all; | And he said, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than all; |
Luke 21:4 | For from what they could well spare they have all of them contributed to the offerings, but she in her need has thrown in all she had to live on." | for all these out of their superabundance did cast into the gifts to God, but this one out of her want, all the living that she had, did cast in.` | for all these out of their abundance have cast into the gifts [of God]; but she out of her need has cast in all the living which she had. |
Luke 21:5 | When some were remarking about the Temple, how it was embellished with beautiful stones and dedicated gifts, He said, | And certain saying about the temple, that with goodly stones and devoted things it hath been adorned, he said, | And as some spoke of the temple, that it was adorned with goodly stones and consecrated offerings, he said, |
Luke 21:6 | "As to these things which you now admire, the time is coming when there will not be one stone left here upon another which will not be pulled down." | `These things that ye behold days will come, in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.` | [As to] these things which ye are beholding, days are coming in which there shall not be left stone upon stone which shall not be thrown down. |
Luke 21:7 | "Rabbi, when will this be?" they asked Him, "and what will be the token given when these things are about to take place?" | And they questioned him, saying, `Teacher, when, then, shall these things be? and what [is] the sign when these things may be about to happen?` | And they asked him saying, Teacher, when then shall these things be; and what [is] the sign when these things are going to take place? |
Luke 21:8 | "See to it," He replied, "that you are not misled; for many will come assuming my name and professing, `I am He,' or saying, `The time is close at hand.' Do not go and follow them. | And he said, `See ye may not be led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying I am [he], and the time hath come nigh; go not on then after them; | And he said, See that ye be not led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying, *I* am [he], and the time is drawn nigh: go ye not [therefore] after them. |
Luke 21:9 | But when you hear of wars and turmoils, be not afraid; for these things must happen first, but the end does not come immediately." | and when ye may hear of wars and uprisings, be not terrified, for it behoveth these things to happen first, but the end [is] not immediately.` | And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end is not immediately. |
Luke 21:10 | Then He said to them, "Nation will rise in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. | Then said he to them, `Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, | Then he said to them, Nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; |
Luke 21:11 | And there will be great earthquakes, and in places famines and pestilence; and there will be terrible sights and wonderful tokens from Heaven. | great shakings also in every place, and famines, and pestilences, there shall be; fearful things also, and great signs from heaven there shall be; | there shall be both great earthquakes in different places, and famines and pestilences; and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. |
Luke 21:12 | "But before all these things happen they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you up to synagogues and to prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors for my sake. | and before all these, they shall lay on you their hands, and persecute, delivering up to synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for my name`s sake; | But before all these things they shall lay their hands upon you and persecute you, delivering [you] up to synagogues and prisons, bringing [you] before kings and governors on account of my name; |
Luke 21:13 | In the end all this will be evidence of your fidelity. | and it shall become to you for a testimony. | but it shall turn out to you for a testimony. |
Luke 21:14 | "Make up your minds, however, not to prepare a defence beforehand, | `Settle, then, to your hearts, not to meditate beforehand to reply, | Settle therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand [your] defence, |
Luke 21:15 | for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to withstand or reply to. | for I will give to you a mouth and wisdom that all your opposers shall not be able to refute or resist. | for *I* will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your opposers shall not be able to reply to or resist. |

Luke 21:17 | You will be the objects of universal hatred because you are called by my name; | and ye shall be hated by all because of my name | and ye will be hated of all for my name's sake. |
Luke 21:18 | and yet not a hair of your heads shall perish. | and a hair out of your head shall not perish; | And a hair of your head shall in no wise perish. |
Luke 21:19 | By your patient endurance you will purchase your lives. | in your patience possess ye your souls. | By your patient endurance gain your souls. |
Luke 21:20 | "But when you see Jerusalem with armies encamping round her on every side, then be certain that her overthrow is close at hand. | `And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded by encampments, then know that come nigh did her desolation; | But when ye see Jerusalem encompassed with armies, then know that its desolation is drawn nigh. |
Luke 21:21 | Then let those who shall be in Judaea escape to the hills; let those who are in the city leave it, and those who are in the country not enter in. | then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; and those in her midst, let them depart out; and those in the countries, let them not come in to her; | Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of it depart out, and those who are in the country not enter into it; |
Luke 21:22 | For those are the days of vengeance and of fulfilling all that is written. | because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written. | for these are days of avenging, that all the things that are written may be accomplished. |
Luke 21:23 | "Alas for the women who at that time are with child or who have infants; for there will be great distress in the land, and anger towards this People. | `And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days; for there shall be great distress on the land, and wrath on this people; | But woe to them that are with child and to them who give suck in those days, for there shall be great distress upon the land and wrath upon this people. |
Luke 21:24 | They will fall by the sword, or be carried off into slavery among all the Gentiles. And Jerusalem will be trampled under foot by the Gentiles, till the appointed times of the Gentiles have expired. | and they shall fall by the mouth of the sword, and shall be led captive to all the nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by nations, till the times of nations be fulfilled. | And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of [the] nations until [the] times of [the] nations be fulfilled. |
Luke 21:25 | "There will be signs in sun, moon, and stars; and on earth anguish among the nations in their bewilderment at the roaring of the sea and its billows; | `And there shall be signs in sun, and moon, and stars, and on the land [is] distress of nations with perplexity, sea and billow roaring; | And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity [at] the roar of the sea and rolling waves, |
Luke 21:26 | while men's hearts are fainting for fear, and for anxious expectation of what is coming on the world. For the forces which control the heavens will be disordered and disturbed. | men fainting at heart from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. | men ready to die through fear and expectation of what is coming on the habitable earth, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. |
Luke 21:27 | And then will they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with great power and glory. | `And then they shall see the Son of Man, coming in a cloud, with power and much glory; | And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. |
Luke 21:28 | But when all this is beginning to take place, grieve no longer. Luke 21:29 | And He spoke a parable to them. "See," He said, "the fig-tree and all the trees. | And he spake a simile to them: `See the fig-tree, and all the trees, | And he spoke a parable to them: Behold the fig-tree and all the trees; |
Luke 21:30 | As soon as they have shot out their leaves, you know at a glance that summer is now near. | when they may now cast forth, having seen, of yourselves ye know that now is the summer nigh; | when they already sprout, ye know of your own selves, [on] looking [at them], that already the summer is near. |
Luke 21:31 | So also, when you see these things happening, you may be sure that the Kingdom of God is near. | so also ye, when ye may see these things happening, ye know that near is the reign of God; | So also *ye*, when ye see these things take place, know that the kingdom of God is near. |
Luke 21:32 | I tell you in solemn truth that the present generation will certainly not pass away without all these things having first taken place. | verily I say to you This generation may not pass away till all may have come to pass; | Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall in no wise pass away until all come to pass. |
Luke 21:33 | Earth and sky will pass away, but it is certain that my words will not pass away. | the heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words may not pass away. | The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall in no wise pass away. |
Luke 21:34 | "But take heed to yourselves, lest your souls be weighed down with self-indulgence and drunkenness or the anxieties of this life, and that day come upon you, suddenly, like a falling trap; | `And take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts may be weighed down with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day may come on you, | But take heed to yourselves lest possibly your hearts be laden with surfeiting and drinking and cares of life, and that day come upon you suddenly unawares; |
Luke 21:35 | for it will come on all dwellers on the face of the whole earth. | for as a snare it shall come on all those dwelling on the face of all the land, | for as a snare shall it come upon all them that dwell upon the face of the whole earth. |
Luke 21:36 | But beware of slumbering; and every moment pray that you may be fully strengthened to escape from all these coming evils, and to take your stand in the presence of the Son of Man." | watch ye, then, in every season, praying that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.` | Watch therefore, praying at every season, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things which are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. |
