His answer was, "Neither intimidate any one nor lay false charges; and be content with your pay." | And questioning him also were those warring, saying, `And we, what shall we do?` and he said unto them, `Do violence to no one, nor accuse falsely, and be content with your wages.` | And the soldiers likewise asked him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said to them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages. |
| Luke 3:15 | And while the people were in suspense and all were debating in their minds whether John might possibly be the Anointed One, | And the people are looking forward, and all are reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether or not he may be the Christ; | And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts concerning John, whether he was the Christ, or not; |
| Luke 3:16 | he answered the question by saying to them all, "As for me, I am baptizing you with water, but One mightier than I is coming, whose very sandal-strap I am not worthy to unfasten: He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire. | John answered, saying to all, `I indeed with water do baptise you, but he cometh who is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to loose the latchet of his sandals he shall baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire; | John answered, saying to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit, and with fire: |
