 The Weymouth New Testament Online Bible (WEY)The Young's Literal Translation Online Bible (YLT)The World English Online Bible (WLD)
1st-Peter 2:1Rid yourselves therefore of all ill-will and all deceitfulness, of insincerity and envy, and of all evil speaking.Having put aside, then, all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
1st-Peter 2:2Thirst, like newly-born infants, for pure milk for the soul, that by it you may grow up to salvation;as new-born babes the word`s pure milk desire ye, that in it ye may grow,as newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the Word, that you may grow thereby,
1st-Peter 2:3if you have had any experience of the goodness of the Lord.if so be ye did taste that the Lord [is] gracious,if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious:
1st-Peter 2:4Come to Him, the ever-living Stone, rejected indeed by men as worthless, but in God's esteem chosen and held in honour.to whom coming a living stone by men, indeed, having been disapproved of, but with God choice, precious,coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
1st-Peter 2:5And be yourselves also like living stones that are being built up into a spiritual house, to become a holy priesthood to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.and ye yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
1st-Peter 2:6For it is contained in Scripture, "See, I am placing on Mount Zion a Cornerstone, chosen, and held in honour, and he whose faith rests on Him shall never have reason to feel ashamed."Wherefore, also, it is contained in the Writing: `Lo, I lay in Zion a chief corner-stone, choice, precious, and he who is believing on him may not be put to shame;`Because it is contained in scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: He who believes in him will not be put to shame."
1st-Peter 2:7To you believers, therefore, that honour belongs; but for unbelievers "A Stone which the builders rejected has been made the Cornerstone,"to you, then, who are believing [is] the preciousness; and to the unbelieving, a stone that the builders disapproved of, this one did become for the head of a corner,For you therefore who believe is the honor, but for such as are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, Has become the chief cornerstone,"
1st-Peter 2:8and "a Stone for the foot to strike against, and a Rock to stumble over." Their foot strikes against it because they are disobedient to God's Message, and to this they were appointed.and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving, to which also they were set;and, "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.
1st-Peter 2:9But you are a chosen race, a priesthood of kingly lineage, a holy nation, a people belonging specially to God, that you may make known the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.and ye [are] a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;But you are an elect race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
1st-Peter 2:10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. Once you had not found mercy, but now you have.who [were] once not a people, and [are] now the people of God; who had not found kindness, and now have found kindness.who in time past were no people, but now are the people of God, who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
1st-Peter 2:11Dear friends, I entreat you as pilgrims and foreigners not to indulge the cravings of your lower natures: for all such cravings wage war upon the soul.Beloved, I call upon [you], as strangers and sojourners, to keep from the fleshly desires, that war against the soul,Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;
1st-Peter 2:12Live honourable lives among the Gentiles, in order that, although they now speak against you as evil-doers, they may yet witness your good conduct, and may glorify God on the day of reward and retribution.having your behaviour among the nations right, that in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, of the good works having beheld, they may glorify God in a day of inspection.having good behavior among the nations, so in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1st-Peter 2:13Submit, for the Lord's sake, to every authority set up by man, whether it be to the Emperor as supreme ruler,Be subject, then, to every human creation, because of the Lord, whether to a king, as the highest,Therefore subject yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether to the king, as supreme;
1st-Peter 2:14or to provincial Governors as sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers and the encouragement of those who do what is right.whether to governors, as to those sent through him, for punishment, indeed, of evil-doers, and a praise of those doing good;or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evil-doers and for praise to those who do well.
1st-Peter 2:15For it is God's will that by doing what is right you should thus silence the ignorant talk of foolish persons.because, so is the will of God, doing good, to put to silence the ignorance of the foolish men;For so is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
1st-Peter 2:16Be free men, and yet do not make your freedom an excuse for base conduct, but be God's bondservants.as free, and not having the freedom as the cloak of the evil, but as servants of God;as free, and not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
1st-Peter 2:17Honour every one. Love the brotherhood, fear God, honour the Emperor.to all give ye honour; the brotherhood love ye; God fear ye; the king honour ye.Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
1st-Peter 2:18Household servants, be submissive to your masters, and show them the utmost respect not only if they are kind and thoughtful, but also if they are unreasonable.The domestics! be subjecting yourselves in all fear to the masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the cross;Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
1st-Peter 2:19For it is an acceptable thing with God, if, from a sense of duty to Him, a man patiently submits to wrong, when treated unjustly.for this [is] gracious, if because of conscience toward God any one doth endure sorrows, suffering unrighteously;For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
1st-Peter 2:20If you do wrong and receive a blow for it, what credit is there in your bearing it patiently? But if when you do right and suffer for it you bear it patiently, this is an acceptable thing with God.for what renown [is it], if sinning and being buffeted, ye do endure [it]? but if, doing good and suffering [for it], ye do endure, this [is] gracious with God,For what glory is it, if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if, when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
1st-Peter 2:21And it is to this you were called; because Christ also suffered on your behalf, leaving you an example so that you should follow in His steps.for to this ye were called, because Christ also did suffer for you, leaving to you an example, that ye may follow his steps,For to this were you called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow his steps,
1st-Peter 2:22He never sinned, and no deceitful language was ever heard from His mouth.who did not commit sin, nor was guile found in his mouth,who did not sin, "neither was deceit found in his mouth."
1st-Peter 2:23When He was reviled, He did not answer with reviling; when He suffered He uttered no threats, but left His wrongs in the hands of the righteous Judge.who being reviled was not reviling again, suffering was not threatening, and was committing himself to Him who is judging righteously,Who, when he was reviled, didn't revile back. When he suffered, didn't threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously;
1st-Peter 2:24The burden of our sins He Himself carried in His own body to the Cross and bore it there, so that we, having died so far as our sins are concerned, may live righteous lives. By His wounds yours have been healed.who our sins himself did bear in his body, upon the tree, that to the sins having died, to the righteousness we may live; by whose stripes ye were healed,who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.
1st-Peter 2:25For you were straying like lost sheep, but now you have come back to the Shepherd and Protector of your souls.for ye were as sheep going astray, but ye turned back now to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.For you were going astray like sheep; but are now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
