Acts 10:1Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,Now [there was] a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian [band], Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, named Cornelius, the captain of the Italian band of the army;
Acts 10:2a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave alms generously to the people, and always prayed to God.a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. A serious-minded man, fearing God with all his family; he gave much money to the poor, and made prayer to God at all times.
Acts 10:3At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius!"He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius. He saw in a vision, clearly, at about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of the Lord coming to him and saying to him, Cornelius!
Acts 10:4He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have gone up for a memorial before God.And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God. And he, looking on him in fear, said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Your prayers and your offerings have come up to God, and he has kept them in mind.
Acts 10:5Now send men to Joppa, and get one Simon, who is surnamed Peter.And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter: Now send men to Joppa, and get one Simon, named Peter,
Acts 10:6He lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the seaside."he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side. Who is living with Simon, a leather-worker, whose house is by the sea.
Acts 10:7When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; And when the angel who said these words to him had gone away, he sent for two of his house-servants, and a God-fearing man of the army, one of those who were waiting on him at all times;
Acts 10:8Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. And having given them an account of everything, he sent them to Joppa.
Acts 10:9Now on the next day, as they were on their journey, and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, at about noon.Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour: Now the day after, when they were on their journey and were near the town, Peter went up to the top of the house for prayer, about the sixth hour:
Acts 10:10He became hungry, and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance; And he was in need of food: but while they were getting it ready, a deep sleep came on him;
Acts 10:11He saw heaven opened, and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet, let down by four corners on the earth,and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth: And he saw the heavens opening, and a vessel coming down, like a great cloth let down on the earth,
Acts 10:12in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven. In which were all sorts of beasts and birds.
Acts 10:13A voice came to him, "Rise, Peter, kill and eat!"And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. And a voice came to him, saying, Come, Peter; take them for food.
Acts 10:14But Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean."But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean. But Peter said, No, Lord; for I have never taken food which is common or unclean.
Acts 10:15A voice came to him again the second time, "What God has cleansed, you must not make unholy."And a voice [came] unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common. And the voice came to him a second time, What God has made clean, do not you make common.
Acts 10:16This was done three times, and immediately the vessel was received up into heaven.And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven. And this was done three times: and then the vessel was taken back into heaven.
Acts 10:17Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate, Now while Peter was in doubt as to the purpose of this vision, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made search for Simon's house, came to the door,
Acts 10:18and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, was lodging there.and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there. To see if Simon, named Peter, was living there.
Acts 10:19While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. And, while Peter was turning the vision over in his mind, the Spirit said to him, See, three men are looking for you.
Acts 10:20But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them. Go down, then, and go with them, doubting nothing, for I have sent them.
Acts 10:21Peter went down to the men, and said, "Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?"And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? And Peter went down to the men, and said, I am the man you are looking for: why have you come?
Acts 10:22They said, "Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the nation of the Jews, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned [of God] by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee. And they said, Cornelius, a captain, an upright and God-fearing man, respected by all the nation of the Jews, had word from God by an angel to send for you to his house, and to give hearing to your words.
Acts 10:23So he called them in and lodged them. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.So he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him. So he took them in for the night. And the day after, he went with them, taking some of the brothers from Joppa with him.
Acts 10:24On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends. And the day after that, they came to Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having got together his relations and his near friends.
Acts 10:25When it happened that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. And when Peter came in, Cornelius came to him and, falling down at his feet, gave him worship.
Acts 10:26But Peter raised him up, saying, "Stand up! I myself am also a man."But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. But Peter, lifting him up, said, Get up, for I am a man as you are.
Acts 10:27As he talked with him, he went in, and found many come together.And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together: And saying these words, he went in, and saw that a great number of people had come together;
Acts 10:28He said to them, "You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn't call any man unholy or unclean.and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and [yet] unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean: And he said to them, You yourselves have knowledge that it is against the law for a man who is a Jew to be in the company of one who is of another nation; but God has made it clear to me that no man may be named common or unclean:
Acts 10:29Therefore also I came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?"wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me. And so I came without question, when I was sent for. What then is your purpose in sending for me?
Acts 10:30Cornelius said, "Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour, and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel, And Cornelius said, Four days from now I was in my house in prayer at the ninth hour; and I saw before me a man in shining clothing,
Acts 10:31and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. Who said, Cornelius, your prayer has come to the ears of God, and your offerings are kept in his memory.
Acts 10:32Send therefore to Joppa, and call to you Simon, who is surnamed Peter. He lodges in the house of Simon a tanner, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.'Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side. Send, then, to Joppa, and get Simon, named Peter, to come to you; he is living in the house of Simon, a leather-worker, by the sea.
Acts 10:33Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God."Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord. So, straight away, I sent for you; and you have done well to come. And now, we are all present before God, ready to give attention to all the things which the Lord has given you to say.
Acts 10:34Peter opened his mouth and said, "Truly I perceive that God doesn't show favoritism,And Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Then Peter said, Truly, I see clearly that God is no respecter of persons:
Acts 10:35but in every nation he who fears him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to him.but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him. But in every nation, the man who has fear of him and does righteousness is pleasing to him.
Acts 10:36The word which he sent to the children of Israel, preaching good news of peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all):The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all.) -- The word which he sent to the children of Israel, giving the good news of peace through Jesus Christ (who is Lord of all)
Acts 10:37that spoken word you yourselves know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judaea, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; That word you yourselves have knowledge of, which was made public through all Judaea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism of which John was the preacher,
Acts 10:38even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.[even] Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. About Jesus of Nazareth, how God gave the Holy Spirit to him, with power: and how he went about doing good and making well all who were troubled by evil spirits, for God was with him.
Acts 10:39We are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree. And we are witnesses of all the things which he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom they put to death, hanging him on a tree.
Acts 10:40God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed,Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest, On the third day God gave him back to life, and let him be seen,
Acts 10:41not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, [even] to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. Not by all the people, but by witnesses marked out before by God, even by us, who took food and drink with him after he came back from the dead.
Acts 10:42He charged us to preach to the people, and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God [to be] the Judge of the living and the dead. And he gave us orders to give news of this to the people, and to give public witness that this is he whom God has made judge of the living and the dead.
Acts 10:43All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins."To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins. To him all the prophets give witness, that through his name everyone who has faith in him will have forgiveness of sins.
Acts 10:44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word. While Peter was saying these words, the Holy Spirit came on all those who were hearing the word.
Acts 10:45They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. And the Jews of the faith, who had come with Peter, were full of wonder, because the Holy Spirit was given to the Gentiles,
Acts 10:46For they heard them speak with other languages, and magnify God. Then Peter answered,For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, And they were talking in tongues, and giving glory to God. Then Peter said,
Acts 10:47"Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized,?"Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? Will any man say that these may not have baptism who have been given the Holy Spirit as we have?
Acts 10:48He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. And he gave orders for them to have baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they kept him with them for some days.
