John 12:1Therefore six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, who had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.Jesus therefore six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead. Jesus therefore, six days before the passover, came to Bethany, where was the dead [man] Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from among [the] dead.
John 12:2So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with him.So they made him a supper there: and Martha served; but Lazarus was one of them that sat at meat with him. There therefore they made him a supper, and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those at table with him.
John 12:3Mary, therefore, took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment. Mary therefore, having taken a pound of ointment of pure nard of great price, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair, and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
John 12:4Then Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, one of his disciples, who would betray him, said,But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, that should betray him, saith, One of his disciples therefore, Judas [son] of Simon, Iscariote, who was about to deliver him up, says,
John 12:5"Why wasn't this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor?"Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred shillings, and given to the poor? Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?
John 12:6Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, used to steal what was put into it.Now this he said, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the bag took away what was put therein. But he said this, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the bag, and carried what was put into [it].
John 12:7But Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She has kept this for the day of my burial.Jesus therefore said, Suffer her to keep it against the day of my burying. Jesus therefore said, Suffer her to have kept this for the day of my preparation for burial;
John 12:8For you always have the poor with you, but you don't always have me."For the poor ye have always with you; but me ye have not always. for ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.
John 12:9A large crowd therefore of the Jews learned that he was there, and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.The common people therefore of the Jews learned that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. A great crowd therefore of the Jews knew that he was there; and they came, not because of Jesus only, but also that they might see Lazarus whom he raised from among [the] dead.
John 12:10But the chief priests conspired to also put Lazarus to death,But the chief priests took counsel that they might put Lazarus also to death; But the chief priests took counsel that they might kill Lazarus also,
John 12:11because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus.because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus. because many of the Jews went away on his account and believed on Jesus.
John 12:12On the next day a great multitude had come to the feast. When they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,On the morrow a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, On the morrow a great crowd who came to the feast, having heard that Jesus is coming into Jerusalem,
John 12:13they took the branches of the palm trees, and went out to meet him, and cried out, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel!"took the branches of the palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried out, Hosanna: Blessed [is] he that cometh in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel. took branches of palms and went out to meet him, and cried, Hosanna, blessed [is] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord, the King of Israel.
John 12:14Jesus, having found a young donkey, sat on it. As it is written,And Jesus, having found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, And Jesus, having found a young ass, sat upon it; as it is written,
John 12:15"Don't be afraid, daughter of Zion. Behold, your King comes, sitting on a donkey's colt."Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt. Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
John 12:16His disciples didn't understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him. [Now] his disciples knew not these things at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things to him.
John 12:17The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, was testifying.The multitude therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, bare witness. The crowd therefore that was with him bore witness because he had called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from among [the] dead.
John 12:18For this cause also the multitude went and met him, because they heard that he had done this sign.For this cause also the multitude went and met him, for that they heard that he had done this sign. Therefore also the crowd met him because they had heard that he had done this sign.
John 12:19The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "See how you accomplish nothing. Behold, the world has gone after him."The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Behold how ye prevail nothing: lo, the world is gone after him. The Pharisees therefore said to one another, Ye see that ye profit nothing: behold, the world is gone after him.
John 12:20Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast.Now there were certain Greeks among those that went up to worship at the feast: And there were certain Greeks among those who came up that they might worship in the feast;
John 12:21These, therefore, came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we want to see Jesus."these therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. these therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and they asked him saying, Sir, we desire to see Jesus.
John 12:22Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn, Andrew came with Philip, and they told Jesus.Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: Andrew cometh, and Philip, and they tell Jesus. Philip comes and tells Andrew, [and again] Andrew comes and Philip, and they tell Jesus.
John 12:23Jesus answered them, "The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.And Jesus answereth them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. But Jesus answered them saying, The hour is come that the Son of man should be glorified.
John 12:24Most assuredly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except the grain of wheat falling into the ground die, it abides alone; but if it die, it bears much fruit.
John 12:25He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal.
John 12:26If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there will my servant also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honor. If any one serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall be *my* servant. [And] if any one serve me, him shall the Father honour.
John 12:27"Now my soul is troubled. What will I say? 'Father, save me from this time?' But for this cause I came to this time.Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause came I unto this hour. Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But on account of this have I come to this hour.
John 12:28Father, glorify your name!" Then there came a voice out of the sky, saying, "I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again."Father, glorify thy name. There came therefore a voice out of heaven, [saying], I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. Father, glorify thy name. There came therefore a voice out of heaven, I both have glorified and will glorify [it] again.
John 12:29The multitude therefore, who stood by and heard it, said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to him."The multitude therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it had thundered: others said, An angel hath spoken to him. The crowd therefore, which stood [there] and heard [it], said that it had thundered. Others said, An angel has spoken to him.
John 12:30Jesus answered, "This voice hasn't come for my sake, but for your sakes.Jesus answered and said, This voice hath not come for my sake, but for your sakes. Jesus answered and said, Not on my account has this voice come, but on yours.
John 12:31Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world will be cast out.Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Now is [the] judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out:
John 12:32I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself. and I, if I be lifted up out of the earth, will draw all to me.
John 12:33But he said this, signifying by what kind of death he should die.But this he said, signifying by what manner of death he should die. But this he said signifying by what death he was about to die.
John 12:34The multitude answered him, "We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. How do you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up?' Who is this Son of Man?"The multitude therefore answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man? The crowd answered him, We have heard out of the law that the Christ abides for ever; and how sayest thou that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who *is* this, the Son of man?
John 12:35Jesus therefore said to them, "Yet a little while the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, that darkness doesn't overtake you. He who walks in the darkness doesn't know where he is going.Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness overtake you not: and he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. Jesus therefore said to them, Yet a little while is the light amongst you. Walk while ye have the light, that darkness may not overtake you. And he who walks in the darkness does not know where he goes.
John 12:36While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light." Jesus said these things, and he departed and hid himself from them.While ye have the light, believe on the light, that ye may become sons of light. These things spake Jesus, and he departed and hid himself from them. While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may become sons of light. Jesus said these things, and going away hid himself from them.
John 12:37But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they didn't believe in him,But though he had done so many signs before them, yet they believed not on him: But though he had done so many signs before them, they believed not on him,
John 12:38that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, "Lord, who has believed our report? To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?"that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? that the word of the prophet Esaias which he said might be fulfilled, Lord, who has believed our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
John 12:39For this cause they couldn't believe, for Isaiah said again,For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again, On this account they could not believe, because Esaias said again,
John 12:40"He has blinded their eyes and he hardened their heart, Lest they should see with their eyes, And perceive with their heart, And would turn, And I would heal them."He hath blinded their eyes, and he hardened their heart; Lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, And should turn, And I should heal them. He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, that they may not see with their eyes, and understand with their heart and be converted, and I should heal them.
John 12:41Isaiah said these things when he saw his glory, and he spoke of him.These things said Isaiah, because he saw his glory; and he spake of him. These things said Esaias because he saw his glory and spoke of him.
John 12:42Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they didn't confess it, so that they wouldn't be put out of the synagogue,Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [it], lest they should be put out of the synagogue: Although indeed from among the rulers also many believed on him, but on account of the Pharisees did not confess [him], that they might not be put out of the synagogue:
John 12:43for they loved men's approval more than God's approval.for they loved the glory [that is] of men more than the glory [that is] of God. for they loved glory from men rather than glory from God.
John 12:44Jesus cried out and said, "Whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me.And Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. But Jesus cried and said, He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me;
John 12:45He who sees me sees him who sent me.And he that beholdeth me beholdeth him that sent me. and he that beholds me, beholds him that sent me.
John 12:46I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me may not abide in the darkness. I am come into the world [as] light, that every one that believes on me may not abide in darkness;
John 12:47If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn't believe, I don't judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.And if any man hear my sayings, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. and if any one hear my words and do not keep [them], I judge him not, for I am not come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world.
John 12:48He who rejects me, and doesn't receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my sayings, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I spake, the same shall judge him in the last day. He that rejects me and does not receive my words, has him who judges him: the word which I have spoken, that shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:49For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.For I spake not from myself; but the Father that sent me, he hath given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. For I have not spoken from myself, but the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what I should say and what I should speak;
John 12:50I know that his commandment is eternal life. The things therefore which I speak, even as the Father has said to me, so I speak."And I know that his commandment is life eternal: the things therefore which I speak, even as the Father hath said unto me, so I speak. and I know that his commandment is life eternal. What therefore I speak, as the Father has said to me, so I speak.
