Mark 7:1Then the Pharisees, and some of the scribes gathered together to him, having come from Jerusalem.And there are gathered together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, who had come from Jerusalem, And there assembled together unto him the Pharisees and some of the scribes, coming from Jerusalem.
Mark 7:2Now when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled, that is, unwashed, hands, they found fault.and had seen that some of his disciples ate their bread with defiled, that is, unwashen, hands. And when they had seen some of his disciples eat bread with common, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault.
Mark 7:3(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, don't eat unless they wash their hands and forearms, holding to the tradition of the elders.(For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands diligently, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders; For the Pharisees, and all the Jews eat not without often washing their hands, holding the tradition of the ancients:
Mark 7:4They don't eat when they come from the marketplace, unless they bathe themselves, and there are many other things, which they have received to hold to: washings of cups, pitchers, bronze vessels, and couches.)and [when they come] from the market-place, except they bathe themselves, they eat not; and many other things there are, which they have received to hold, washings of cups, and pots, and brasen vessels.) And when they come from the market, unless they be washed, they eat not: and many other things there are that have been delivered to them to observe, the washings of cups and of pots, and of brazen vessels, and of beds.
Mark 7:5The Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why don't your disciples walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unwashed hands?"And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands? And the Pharisees and scribes asked him: Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients, but they eat bread with common hands?
Mark 7:6He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors me with their lips, But their heart is far from me.And he said unto them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, But their heart is far from me. But he answering, said to them: Well did Isaias prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mark 7:7But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men. And in vain to they worship me, teaching doctrines and precepts of men.
Mark 7:8"For you set aside the commandment of God, and hold tightly to the tradition of men the washing of pitchers and cups, and you do many other such things."Ye leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men. For leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, the washing of pots and of cups: and many other things you do like to these.
Mark 7:9He said to them, "Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.And he said unto them, Full well do ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your tradition. And he said to them: Well do you make void the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.
Mark 7:10For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother;' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death: For Moses said: Honor thy father and thy mother; and He that shall curse father or mother, dying let him die.
Mark 7:11But you say, 'If a man will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever you might have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, given to God;"'but ye say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given [to God]; But you say: If a man shall say to his father or mother, Corban, (which is a gift,) whatsoever is from me, shall profit thee.
Mark 7:12and you no longer allow him to do anything for his father or his mother,ye no longer suffer him to do aught for his father or his mother; And further you suffer him not to do any thing for his father or mother,
Mark 7:13making void the word of God by your tradition, which you have handed down. You do many things like this."making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do. Making void the word of God by your own tradition, which you have given forth. And many other such like things you do.
Mark 7:14He called all the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear me, all of you, and understand.And he called to him the multitude again, and said unto them, Hear me all of you, and understand: And calling again the multitude unto him, he said to them: Hear ye me all, and understand.
Mark 7:15There is nothing from outside of the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man.there is nothing from without the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man. There is nothing from without a man that entering into him, can defile him. But the things which come from a man, those are they that defile a man.
Mark 7:16If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear!"[If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.] If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
Mark 7:17When he had entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him about the parable.And when he was entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked of him the parable. And when he was come into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him the parable.
Mark 7:18He said to them, "Are you so without understanding also? Don't you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can't defile him,And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, [it] cannot defile him; And he saith to them: So are you also without knowledge? understand you not that every thing from without, entering into a man cannot defile him:
Mark 7:19because it doesn't go into his heart, but into his belly, and into the latrine, thus making all foods clean?"because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? [This he said], making all meats clean. Because it entereth not into his heart, but goeth into the belly, and goeth out into the privy, purging all meats?
Mark 7:20He said, "That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. But he said that the things which come out from a man, they defile a man.
Mark 7:21For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts,For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, For from within out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mark 7:22covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness: Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.
Mark 7:23All these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man."all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man. All these evil things come from within, and defile a man.
Mark 7:24From there he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. He entered into a house, and wanted no one to know it, but he couldn't escape detection.And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid. And rising from thence he went into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon: and entering into a house, he would that no man should know it, and he could not be hid.
Mark 7:25For a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet.But straightway a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet. For a woman as soon as she heard of him, whose daughter had an unclean spirit, came in and fell down at his feet.
Mark 7:26Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. She begged him that he would cast the demon out of her daughter.Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. And she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter. For the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophenician born. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
Mark 7:27But Jesus said to her, "Let the children be filled first, for it is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."And he said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. Who said to her: Suffer first the children to be filled: for it is not good to take the bread of the children, and cast it to the dogs.
Mark 7:28But she answered him, "Yes, Lord. For even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."But she answered and saith unto him, Yea, Lord; even the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. But she answered and said to him: Yea, Lord; for the whelps also eat under the table of the crumbs of the children.
Mark 7:29He said to her, "For this saying, go your way. The demon has gone out of your daughter."And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the demon is gone out of thy daughter. And he said to her: For this saying go thy way, the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
Mark 7:30She went away to her house, and found the child laying on the bed, with the demon gone out.And she went away unto her house, and found the child laid upon the bed, and the demon gone out. And when she was come into her house, she found the girl lying upon the bed, and that the devil was gone out.
Mark 7:31Again he departed from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.And again he went out from the borders of Tyre, and came through Sidon unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis. And again going out of the coasts of Tyre, he came by Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.
Mark 7:32They brought to him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech. They begged him to lay his hand on him.And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to lay his hand upon him. And they bring to him one deaf and dumb; and they besought him that he would lay his hand upon him.
Mark 7:33He took him aside from the multitude, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue.And he took him aside from the multitude privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue; And taking him from the multitude apart, he put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, he touched his tongue:
Mark 7:34Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha!" that is, "Be opened!"and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. And looking up to heaven, he groaned, and said to him: Ephpheta, which is, Be thou opened.
Mark 7:35Immediately his ears were opened, and the bond of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke clearly.And his ears were opened, and the bond of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke right.
Mark 7:36He charged them that they should tell no one, but the more he charged them, so much the more widely they proclaimed it.And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it. And he charged them that they should tell no man. But the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal did they publish it.
Mark 7:37They were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes even the deaf hear, and the mute speak!"And they were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak. And so much the more did they wonder, saying: He hath done all things well; he hath made both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
