Matthew 6:1 | "Be careful that you don't do your charitable giving before men, to be seen by them, or else you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. | Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. | Take heed that you do not your justice before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you shall not have a reward of your Father who is in heaven. |
Matthew 6:2 | Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don't sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward. | When therefore thou doest alms, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward. | Therefore when thou dost an almsdeed, sound not a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be honoured by men. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. |
Matthew 6:3 | But when you do merciful deeds, don't let your left hand know what your right hand does, | But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: | But when thou dost alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doth. |
Matthew 6:4 | so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. | that thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee. | That thy alms may be in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee. |
Matthew 6:5 | "When you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Most assuredly, I tell you, they have received their reward. | And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward. | And when ye pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, that love to stand and pray in the synagogues and corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men: Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. |
Matthew 6:6 | But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. | But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee. | But thou when thou shalt pray, enter into thy chamber, and having shut the door, pray to thy Father in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret will repay thee. |
Matthew 6:7 | In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. | And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. | And when you are praying, speak not much, as the heathens. For they think that in their much speaking they may be heard. |
Matthew 6:8 | Therefore don't be like them, for your Father knows what things you need, before you ask him. | Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. | Be not you therefore like to them, for your Father knoweth what is needful for you, before you ask him. |
Matthew 6:9 | Pray like this. 'Our Father, who is in heaven, may your name be kept holy. | After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. | Thus therefore shall you pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. |
Matthew 6:10 | May your kingdom come. May your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. | Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. | Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. |
Matthew 6:11 | Give us this day our daily bread. | Give us this day our daily bread. | Give us this day our supersubstantial bread. |
Matthew 6:12 | Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. | And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. | And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. |
Matthew 6:13 | Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever. Amen.' | And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one.] | And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen. |
Matthew 6:14 | For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | For if you will forgive men their offences, your heavenly Father will forgive you also your offences. |
Matthew 6:15 | But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. | But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. | But if you will not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive you your offences. |
Matthew 6:16 | "Moreover when you fast, don't be, as the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most assuredly I tell you, they have received their reward. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen of men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward. | And when you fast, be not as the hypocrites, sad. For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. |
Matthew 6:17 | But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; | But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thy head, and wash thy face; | But thou, when thou fastest anoint thy head, and wash thy face; |
Matthew 6:18 | that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. | that thou be not seen of men to fast, but of thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father, who seeth in secret, shall recompense thee. | That thou appear not to men to fast, but to thy Father who is in secret: and thy Father who seeth in secret, will repay thee. |
Matthew 6:19 | "Don't lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; | Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal: | Lay not up to yourselves treasures on earth: where the rust, and moth consume, and where thieves break through and steal. |
Matthew 6:20 | but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don't break through and steal; | but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth consume, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: | But lay up to yourselves treasures in heaven: where neither the rust nor moth doth consume, and where thieves do not break through, nor steal. |
Matthew 6:21 | for where your treasure is, your heart will be there also. | for where thy treasure is, there will thy heart be also. | For where thy treasure is, there is thy heart also. |
Matthew 6:22 | The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye is sound, your whole body will be full of light. | The lamp of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. | The light of thy body is thy eye. If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be lightsome. |
Matthew 6:23 | But if your eye is evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! | But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is the darkness! | But if thy eye be evil thy whole body shall be darksome. If then the light that is in thee, be darkness: the darkness itself how great shall it be! |
Matthew 6:24 | "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon. | No man can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. | No man can serve two masters. For either he will hate the one, and love the other: or he will sustain the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. |
Matthew 6:25 | Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will put on. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? | Therefore I say unto you, be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? | Therefore I say to you, be not solicitous for your life, what you shall eat, nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat: and the body more than the raiment? |
Matthew 6:26 | See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? | Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value then they? | Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not you of much more value than they? |
Matthew 6:27 | Which of you, by being anxious, can add one cubit to the measure of his life? | And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto the measure of his life? | And which of you by taking thought, can add to his stature by one cubit? |
Matthew 6:28 | Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, | And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: | And for raiment why are you solicitous? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they labour not, neither do they spin. |
Matthew 6:29 | yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. | yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. | But I say to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed as one of these. |
Matthew 6:30 | But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? | But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O ye of little faith? | And if the grass of the field, which is to day, and to morrow is cast into the oven, God doth so clothe: how much more you, O ye of little faith? |
Matthew 6:31 | Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' | Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? | Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? |
Matthew 6:32 | For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. | For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. | For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. |
Matthew 6:33 | But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you. | But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. | Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. |
Matthew 6:34 | Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient. | Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. | Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof. |
