| Matthew 19:1 | It happened when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan. | And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan; | When Jesus had finished these discourses, He removed from Galilee and came into that part of Judaea which lay beyond the Jordan. |
| Matthew 19:2 | Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there. | and great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. | And a vast multitude followed him, and He cured them there. |
| Matthew 19:3 | Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?" | And there came unto him Pharisees, trying him, and saying, Is it lawful [for a man] to put away his wife for every cause? | Then came some of the Pharisees to Him to put Him to the proof by the question, "Has a man a right to divorce his wife whenever he chooses?" |

| Matthew 19:9 | I tell you that whoever will put away his wife, except for sexual immorality, and will marry another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is put away commits adultery." | And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery. | And I tell you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except her unfaithfulness, and marries another woman, commits adultery." |

One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. | "Why do you ask me," He replied, "about what is good? There is only One who is truly good. But if you desire to enter into Life, keep the Commandments." |
