Exodus 9:1 | Then Yahweh said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, 'This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, that they may serve me. | Then the Lord said to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go so that they may give me worship. | And the Lord said to Moses: Go in to Pharao, and speak to him: Thus saith the Lord God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to sacrifice to me. |
Exodus 9:2 | For if you refuse to let them go, and hold them still, | For if you will not let them go, but still keep them in your power, | But if thou refuse, and withhold them still: |
Exodus 9:3 | behold, the hand of Yahweh is on your cattle which are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the herds, and on the flocks with a very grievous pestilence. | Then the hand of the Lord will put on your cattle in the field, on the horses and the asses and the camels, on the herds and the flocks, a very evil disease. | Behold my hand shall be upon thy fields: and a very grievous murrain upon thy horses, and asses, and camels, and oxen, and sheep. |
Exodus 9:4 | Yahweh will make a distinction between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt; and there shall nothing die of all that belongs to the children of Israel."'" | And the Lord will make a division between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt; there will be no loss of any of the cattle of Israel. | And the Lord will make a wonderful difference between the possessions of Israel and the possessions of the Egyptians, that nothing at all shall die of those things that belong to the children of Israel. |
Exodus 9:5 | Yahweh appointed a set time, saying, "Tomorrow Yahweh shall do this thing in the land." | And the time was fixed by the Lord, and he said, Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land. | And the Lord appointed a time, saying: Tomorrow will the Lord do this thing in the land. |
Exodus 9:6 | Yahweh did that thing on the next day; and all the cattle of Egypt died, but of the cattle of the children of Israel, not one died. | And on the day after, the Lord did as he had said, causing the death of all the cattle of Egypt, but there was no loss of any of the cattle of Israel. | The Lord therefore did this thing the next day: and all the beasts of the Egyptians died, but of the beasts of the children of Israel there died not one. |
Exodus 9:7 | Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not so much as one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was stubborn, and he didn't let the people go. | And Pharaoh sent and got word that there was no loss of any of the cattle of Israel. But the heart of Pharaoh was hard and he did not let the people go. | And Pharao sent to see: and there was not any thing dead of that which Israel possessed. And Pharao's heart was hardened, and he did not let the people go. |
Exodus 9:8 | Yahweh said to Moses and to Aaron, "Take to you handfuls of ashes of the furnace, and let Moses sprinkle it toward the sky in the sight of Pharaoh. | And the Lord said to Moses and to Aaron, Take in your hand a little dust from the fire and let Moses send it in a shower up to heaven before the eyes of Pharaoh. | And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron: Take to you handfuls of ashes out of the chimney, and let Moses sprinkle it in the air in the presence of Pharao. |
Exodus 9:9 | It shall become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with boils on man and on animal, throughout all the land of Egypt." | And it will become small dust over all the land of Egypt, and will be a skin-disease bursting out in wounds on man and beast through all the land of Egypt. | And be there dust upon all the land of Egypt: for there shall be boils and swelling blains both in men and beasts in the whole land of Egypt. |
Exodus 9:10 | They took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward the sky; and it became a boil breaking forth with boils on man and on animal. | So they took some dust from the fire, and placing themselves before Pharaoh, Moses sent it out in a shower up to heaven; and it became a skin-disease bursting out on man and on beast. | And they took ashes out of the chimney, and stood before Pharao, and Moses sprinkled it in the air: and there came boils with swelling blains in men and beasts. |
Exodus 9:11 | The magicians couldn't stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boils were on the magicians, and on all the Egyptians. | And the wonder-workers were not able to take their places before Moses, because of the disease; for the disease was on the wonder-workers and on all the Egyptians. | Neither could the magicians stand before Moses for the boils that were upon them, and in all the land of Egypt. |
Exodus 9:12 | Yahweh hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he didn't listen to them, as Yahweh had spoken to Moses. | And the Lord made Pharaoh's heart hard, and he would not give ear to them, as the Lord had said. | And the Lord hardened Pharao's heart, and he hearkened not unto them, as the Lord had spoken to Moses. |
Exodus 9:13 | Yahweh said to Moses, "Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, 'This is what Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, says: "Let my people go, that they may serve me. | And the Lord said to Moses, Get up early in the morning and take your place before Pharaoh, and say to him, This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go so that they may give me worship. | And the Lord said to Moses: Arise in the morning, and stand before Pharao, and thou shalt say to him: Thus saith the Lord the God of the Hebrews: Let my people go to sacrifice to me. |
Exodus 9:14 | For this time I will send all my plagues on your heart, and on your servants, and on your people; that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. | For this time I will send all my punishments on yourself and on your servants and on your people; so that you may see that there is no other like me in all the earth. | For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thy heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people: that thou mayst know there is none like me in all the earth. |
Exodus 9:15 | For now I would have put forth my hand, and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; | For if I had put the full weight of my hand on you and your people, you would have been cut off from the earth: | For now I will stretch out my hand to strike thee, and thy people with pestilence, and thou shalt perish from the earth. |
Exodus 9:16 | but indeed for this cause I have made you stand, to show you my power, and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. | But, for this very reason, I have kept you from destruction, to make clear to you my power, and so that my name may be honoured through all the earth. | And therefore have I raised thee, that I may shew my power in thee, and my name may be spoken of throughout all the earth. |
Exodus 9:17 | As you still exalt yourself against my people, that you won't let them go. | Are you still uplifted in pride against my people so that you will not let them go? | Dost thou yet hold back my people: and wilt thou not let them go? |
Exodus 9:18 | Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as has not been in Egypt since the day it was founded even until now. | Truly, tomorrow about this time I will send down an ice-storm, such as never was in Egypt from its earliest days till now. | Behold I will cause it to rain to morrow at this same hour, an exceeding great hail: such as hath not been in Egypt from the day that it was founded, until this present time. |
Exodus 9:19 | Now therefore command that all of your cattle and all that you have in the field be brought into shelter. Every man and animal that is found in the field, and isn't brought home, the hail shall come down on them, and they shall die."'" | Then send quickly and get in your cattle and all you have from the fields; for if any man or beast in the field has not been put under cover, the ice-storm will come down on them with destruction. | Send therefore now presently, and gather together thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field: for men and beasts, and all things that shall be found abroad, and not gathered together out of the fields, which the hail shall fall upon, shall die. |
Exodus 9:20 | Those who feared the word of Yahweh among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their cattle flee into the houses. | Then everyone among the servants of Pharaoh who had the fear of the Lord, made his servants and his cattle come quickly into the house: | He that feared the word of the Lord among Pharao's servants, made his servants and his cattle flee into houses: |
Exodus 9:21 | Whoever didn't regard the word of Yahweh left his servants and his cattle in the field. | And he who gave no attention to the word of the Lord, kept his servants and his cattle in the field. | And the Lord said to Moses: Stretch forth thy hand towards heaven, that there may be hail in the whole land of Egypt, upon men, and upon beasts, and upon every herb of the field in the land of Egypt. |
Exodus 9:22 | Yahweh said to Moses, "Stretch forth your hand toward the sky, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, on man, and on animal, and on every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt." | And the Lord said to Moses, Now let your hand be stretched out to heaven so that there may be an ice-storm on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field through all the land of Egypt. | And Moses stretched forth his rod towards heaven, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and lightning running along the ground: and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. |
Exodus 9:23 | Moses stretched forth his rod toward the heavens, and Yahweh sent thunder, hail, and lightning flashed down to the earth. Yahweh rained hail on the land of Egypt. | And Moses put out his rod to heaven: and the Lord sent thunder, and an ice-storm, and fire running down on the earth; the Lord sent an ice-storm on the land of Egypt. | And the hail and fire mixed with it drove on together: and it was of so great bigness, as never before was seen in the whole land of Egypt since that nation was founded. |
Exodus 9:24 | So there was very severe hail, and lightning mixed with the hail, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. | So there was an ice-storm with fire running through it, coming down with great force, such as never was in all the land of Egypt from the time when it became a nation. | And the hail destroyed through all the land of Egypt all things that were in the fields, both man and beast: and the hail smote every herb of the field, and it broke every tree of the country. |
Exodus 9:25 | The hail struck throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and animal; and the hail struck every herb of the field, and broke every tree of the field. | And through all the land of Egypt the ice-storm came down on everything which was in the fields, on man and on beast; and every green plant was crushed and every tree of the field broken. | Only in the land of Gessen, where the children of Israel were, the hail fell not. |
Exodus 9:26 | Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no hail. | Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, there was no ice-storm. | And Pharao sent and called Moses and Aaron, saying to them: I have sinned this time also; the Lord is just: I and my people are wicked. |
Exodus 9:27 | Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time. Yahweh is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. | Then Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron, and said to them, I have done evil this time: the Lord is upright, and I and my people are sinners. | Pray ye to the Lord, that the thunderings of God and the hail may cease: that I may let you go, and that you may stay here no longer. |
Exodus 9:28 | Pray to Yahweh; for there has been enough of mighty thunderings and hail. I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer." | Make prayer to the Lord; for there has been enough of these thunderings of God and this ice-storm; and I will let you go and will keep you no longer. | Moses said: As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will stretch forth my hands to the Lord, and the thunders shall cease, and the hail shall be no more: that thou mayst know that the earth is the Lord's. |
Exodus 9:29 | Moses said to him, "As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands to Yahweh. The thunders shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that you may know that the earth is Yahweh's. | And Moses said, When I am gone outside the town, my hands will be stretched out to the Lord; the thunders and the ice-storm will come to an end, so that you may see that the earth is the Lord's. | But I know that neither thou, nor thy servants do yet fear the Lord God. |
Exodus 9:30 | But as for you and your servants, I know that you will not yet fear Yahweh God." | But as for you and your servants, I am certain that even now the fear of the Lord God will not be in your hearts. | The flax therefore and the barley were hurt, because the barley was green, and the flax was now boiled: |
Exodus 9:31 | The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was in bloom. | And the flax and the barley were damaged, for the barley was almost ready to be cut and the flax was in flower. | But the wheat, and other winter corn were not hurt, because they were lateward. |
Exodus 9:32 | But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they had not grown up. | But the rest of the grain-plants were undamaged, for they had not come up. | And when Moses was gone from Pharao out of the city, he stretched forth his hands to the Lord: and the thunders and the hail ceased, neither did there drop any more rain upon the earth. |
Exodus 9:33 | Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands to Yahweh; and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. | So Moses went out of the town, and stretching out his hands made prayer to God: and the thunders and the ice-storm came to an end; and the fall of rain was stopped. | And Pharao seeing that the rain and the hail, and the thunders were ceased, increased his sin. |
Exodus 9:34 | When Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. | But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the ice-storm and the thunders were ended, he went on sinning, and made his heart hard, he and his servants. | And his heart was hardened, and the heart of his servants, and it was made exceeding hard: neither did he let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses. |
Exodus 9:35 | The heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he didn't let the children of Israel go, as Yahweh had spoken through Moses. | And the heart of Pharaoh was hard, and he did not let the people go, as the Lord had said by the mouth of Moses. | |
