John 20:1Now on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came early, while it was yet dark, to the tomb, and saw the stone taken away from the tomb. Now on the first day of the week, very early, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the place and saw that the stone had been taken away from it.On the first day of the week, very early, while it was still dark, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from it.
John 20:2She ran therefore, and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don't know where they have laid him!"Then she went running to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple who was loved by Jesus, and said to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the place of the dead and we have no knowledge where they have put him.So she ran, as fast as she could, to find Simon Peter and the other disciple the one who was dear to Jesus and to tell them, "They have taken the Master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have put Him."
John 20:3Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb.So Peter and the other disciple went out to the place of the dead.Peter and the other disciple started at once to go to the tomb, both of them running,
John 20:4They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter, and came to the tomb first. They went running together, and the other disciple got in front of Peter and came first to the hole in the rock;but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached it before he did.
John 20:5Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying, yet he didn't enter in.And looking in, he saw the linen bands on the earth; but he did not go in,Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying there on the ground, but he did not go in.
John 20:6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying,Then Simon Peter came after him and went into the hole in the rock; and he saw the linen bands on the earth,Simon Peter, however, also came, following him, and entered the tomb. There on the ground he saw the cloths;
John 20:7and the cloth that was on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. And the cloth, which had been round his head, not with the linen bands but rolled up in a place by itself.and the towel, which had been placed over the face of Jesus, not lying with the cloths, but folded up and put by itself.
John 20:8Then the other disciple also entered in therefore, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed. Then the other disciple who came there first went in; and he saw and belief came to him. Then the other disciple, who had been the first to come to the tomb, also went in and saw and was convinced.
John 20:9For as yet they didn't know the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. For at that time they had no knowledge that the Writings said that he would have to come again from the dead. For until now they had not understood the inspired teaching, that He must rise again from among the dead.
John 20:10So the disciples went away again to their own homes. So then the disciples went away again to their houses. Then they went away and returned home.
John 20:11But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb,But Mary was still there outside the hole in the rock, weeping; and while she was weeping and looking into the hole,Meanwhile Mary remained standing near the tomb, weeping aloud. She did not enter the tomb, but as she wept she stooped and looked in,
John 20:12and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. She saw two angels in white seated where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and the other at the feet.and saw two angels clothed in white raiment, sitting one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been.
John 20:13They told her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I don't know where they have laid him."They said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I have no knowledge where they have put him. They spoke to her. "Why are you weeping?" they asked. "Because," she replied, "they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him."
John 20:14When she had said this, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and didn't know that it was Jesus. And then looking round, she saw Jesus there, but had no idea that it was Jesus. While she was speaking, she turned round and saw Jesus standing there, but did not recognize Him.
John 20:15Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away."Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? who are you looking for? She, taking him for the gardener, said to him, Sir, if you have taken him away from here, say where you have put him and I will take him away."Why are you weeping?" He asked; "who are you looking for?" She, supposing that He was the gardener, replied, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him and I will remove him."
John 20:16Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned herself, and said to him, "Rhabbouni!" which is to say, "Teacher!"Jesus said to her, Mary! Turning, she said to him in Hebrew, Rabboni! (which is to say, Master)."Mary!" said Jesus. She turned to Him. "Rabboni!" she cried in Hebrew: the word means `Teacher!'
John 20:17Jesus said to her, "Don't touch me, for I haven't yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brothers, and tell them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.'"Jesus said to her, Do not put your hand on me, for I have not gone up to the Father: but go to my brothers and say to them, I go up to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God."Do not cling to me," said Jesus, "for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But take this message to my brethren: `I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"
John 20:18Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had said these things to her.Mary Magdalene went with the news to the disciples, and said she had seen the Lord and that he had said these things to her.Mary of Magdala came and brought word to the disciples. "I have seen the Master," she said. And she told them that He had said these things to her.
John 20:19When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were locked where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you."At evening on that day, the first day of the week, when, for fear of the Jews, the doors were shut where the disciples were, Jesus came among them and said to them, May peace be with you!On that same first day of the week, when it was evening and, for fear of the Jews, the doors of the house where the disciples were, were locked, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, "Peace be to you!"
John 20:20When he had said this, he showed to them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord. And when he had said this, he let them see his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.Having said this He showed them His hands and also His side; and the disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Master.
John 20:21Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."And Jesus said to them again, May peace be with you! As the Father sent me, even so I now send you.A second time, therefore, He said to them, "Peace be to you! As the Father sent me, I also now send you."
John 20:22When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit! And when he had said this, breathing on them, he said to them, Let the Holy Spirit come on you:Having said this He breathed upon them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.
John 20:23Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven to them. Whoever's sins you retain, they are retained."Any to whom you give forgiveness, will be made free from their sins; and any from whom you keep back forgiveness, will still be in their sins.If you remit the sins of any persons, they remain remitted to them. If you bind fast the sins of any, they remain bound."
John 20:24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, wasn't with them when Jesus came. Now Thomas, one of the twelve, named Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.Thomas, one of the twelve surnamed `the Twin' was not among them when Jesus came.
John 20:25The other disciples therefore said to him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."So the other disciples said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, If I do not see in his hands the print of the nails and put my finger into the print of the nails, and if I do not put my hand into his side, I will never have belief. So the rest of the disciples told him, "We have seen the Master!" His reply was, "Unless I see in his hands the wound made by the nails and put my finger into the wound, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe it."
John 20:26After eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being locked, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace be to you."And after eight days, his disciples were again in the house and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were shut, Jesus came, and taking his place in the middle of them, he said, May peace be with you!A week later the disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them, when Jesus came though the doors were locked and stood in their midst, and said, "Peace be to you."
John 20:27Then he said to Thomas, "Reach here your finger, and see my hands. Reach here your hand, and put it into my side. Don't be faithless, but believing."Then he said to Thomas, Put out your finger, and see my hands; and put your hand here into my side: and be no longer in doubt but have belief. Then He said to Thomas, "Bring your finger here and feel my hands; bring you hand and put it into my side; and do not be ready to disbelieve but to believe."
John 20:28Thomas answered him, "My Lord and my God!"And Thomas said in answer, My Lord and my God!"My Lord and my God!" replied Thomas.
John 20:29Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."Jesus said to him, Because you have seen me you have belief: a blessing will be on those who have belief though they have not seen me!"Because you have seen me," replied Jesus, "you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

John 20:31but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name. But these are recorded, so that you may have faith that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and so that, having this faith you may have life in his name. But these have been recorded in order that you may believe that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and that, through believing, you may have Life through His name.
