Luke 7:3When he heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews, asking him to come and save his servant. And when news of Jesus came to his ears, he sent to him rulers of the Jews, requesting that he would come and make his servant well.and the Captain, hearing about Jesus, sent to Him some of the Jewish Elders, begging Him to come and restore his servant to health.

Luke 7:5for he loves our nation, and he built our synagogue for us."It is right for you to do this for him, because he is a friend to our nation, and himself has put up a Synagogue for us.for he loves our nation, and at his own expense he built our synagogue for us."
Luke 7:6Jesus went with them. When he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying to him, "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I am not worthy for you to come under my roof.And Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the man sent friends to him, saying, Lord, do not give yourself trouble: for I am not important enough for you to come into my house:Then Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the Captain sent friends to Him with the message: "Sir, do not trouble to come. I am not worthy of having you come under my roof;
Luke 7:7Therefore I didn't even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed. And I had the feeling that I was not even good enough to come to you: but say the word only, and my servant will be well.and therefore I did not deem myself worthy to come to you. Only speak the word, and let my young man be cured.
Luke 7:8For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, 'Go!' and he goes; and to another, 'Come!' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."For I, myself, am a man under authority, having men under me; and I say to this one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.For I too am a man obedient to authority, and have soldiers under me; and I say to one, `Go,' and he goes; to another, `Come,' and he comes; and to my slave, `Do this or that,' and he does it."
Luke 7:9When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned and said to the multitude who followed him, "I tell you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."And when these things were said to Jesus, he was surprised, and, turning to the mass of people coming after him, said, I have not seen such great faith, no, not in Israel.Jesus listened to the Captain's message and was astonished at him, and He turned and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I tell you that not even in Israel have I found faith like that."
Luke 7:10Those who were sent, returning to the house, found that the servant who had been sick was well. And when those who were sent came back to the house they saw that the servant was well. And the friends who had been sent, on returning to the house, found the servant in perfect health.
Luke 7:11It happened soon afterwards, that he went to a city called Nain. Many of his disciples went with him, along with a great multitude. And it came about, after a little time, that he went to a town named Nain; and his disciples went with him, and a great number of people.Shortly afterwards He went to a town called Nain, attended by His disciples and a great crowd of people.
Luke 7:12Now when he drew near to the gate of the city, behold, one who was dead was carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. Many people of the city were with her.Now when he came near the door of the town, a dead man was being taken out, the only son of his mother, who was a widow: and a great number of people from the town were with her.And just as He reached the gate of the town, they happened to be bringing out for burial a dead man who was his mother's only son; and she was a widow; and a great number of the townspeople were with her.
Luke 7:13When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said to her, "Don't cry."And when the Lord saw her, he had pity on her and said to her, Be not sad.The Lord saw her, was moved with pity for her, and said to her, "Do not weep."
Luke 7:14He came near and touched the coffin, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I tell you, arise!"And he came near, and put his hand on the stretcher where the dead man was: and those who were moving it came to a stop. And he said, Young man, I say to you, Get up.Then He went close and touched the bier, and the bearers halted. "Young man," He said, "I command you, wake!"
Luke 7:15He who was dead sat up, and began to speak. He gave him to his mother. And the dead man got up, and words came from his lips. And he gave him to his mother. The dead man sat up and began to speak; and He restored him to his mother.
Luke 7:16Fear took hold on all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us," and, "God has visited his people."And fear came on all, and they gave praise to God, saying, A great prophet is among us: and, God has given thought to his people. All were awe-struck, and they gave glory to God some saying, "A Prophet, a great Prophet, has risen up among us." Others said, "God has not forgotten His People."
Luke 7:17This report went out concerning him in the whole of Judea, and in all the surrounding region. And this story about him went through all Judaea and the places round about. And the report of what Jesus had done spread through the whole of Judaea and in all the surrounding districts.
Luke 7:18The disciples of John told him about all these things.And the disciples of John gave him an account of all these things.John's disciples brought him an account of all these things;
Luke 7:19John, calling to himself two of his disciples, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?"Then John sent two of his disciples to the Lord, saying, Are you he who is to come, or are we waiting for another?so John called two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord. "Are you the Coming One?" he asked, "or is there another that we are to expect?"
Luke 7:20When the men had come to him, they said, "John the Baptizer has sent us to you, saying, 'Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?'"And when the men came to him they said, John the Baptist has sent us to you, saying, Are you he who is to come, or are we waiting for another? The men came to Jesus and said, "John the Baptist has sent us to you with this question: `Are you the Coming One, or is there another that we are to expect?'"
Luke 7:21In that hour he cured many of diseases and plagues and evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight. At that time, he made a number of people free from their diseases and their pains, and from evil spirits; and to others who were blind he gave back the use of their eyes.He immediately cured many of diseases, severe pain, and evil spirits, and to many who were blind He gave the gift of sight.
Luke 7:22Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John the things which you have seen and heard: that the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And answering them he said, Go back and give news to John of what you have seen, and the things which have come to your ears; the blind now see, those who had no power in their legs are walking, lepers are made clean, those who had no hearing now have their ears open, dead men come to life again, and the poor have the good news given to them. Then He answered the messengers, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard. Blind men receive sight, the lame walk, lepers are purified, deaf persons hear, the dead are raised to life, the poor have the Good News proclaimed to them.
Luke 7:23Blessed is he who is not offended by me."And a blessing will be on him who has no doubts about me.And blessed is every one who does not stumble and fall because of my claims."
Luke 7:24When John's messengers had departed, he began to tell the multitudes about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? And when the men who were sent by John had gone away, he said to the people, about John, What did you go out into the waste land to see? a tall stem moving in the wind? When John's messengers were gone, He proceeded to say to the multitude concerning John, "What did you go out into the Desert to gaze at? A reed waving in the wind?
Luke 7:25But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are gorgeously dressed, and live delicately, are in kings' courts. But what did you go out to see? a man in soft clothing? See now, those who have beautiful clothing and delicate food are in kings' houses. But what did you go out to see? A man wearing luxurious clothes? People who are gorgeously dressed and live in luxury are found in palaces.
Luke 7:26But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet. But what did you go out to see? a prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. But what did you go out to see? A Prophet? Aye, I tell you, and far more than a Prophet.
Luke 7:27This is he of whom it is written, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Who will prepare your way before you.'This is he of whom it has been said, See, I send my servant before your face, who will make ready your way before you.John is the man about whom it is written, `See, I am sending My messenger before thy face, and he shall make ready thy way before thee.'
Luke 7:28"For I tell you, among those who are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptizer, yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."I say to you, Among all the sons of women, not one is greater than John: but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."I tell you that among all of women born there is not one greater than John. Yet one who is of lower rank in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.
Luke 7:29When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they justified God, being baptized with John's baptism.(And all the people, and the tax-farmers, to whom John had given baptism, when they had knowledge of these things, gave glory to God.And all the people, including the tax-gatherers, when they listened to him upheld the righteousness of God, by being baptized with John's baptism.
Luke 7:30But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected the counsel of God, not being baptized by him themselves. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were against the purpose of God for themselves, not having had his baptism.)But the Pharisees and expounders of the Law have frustrated God's purpose as to their own lives, by refusing to be baptized.
Luke 7:31The Lord said, "To what then will I liken the men of this generation? What are they like? What comparison am I to make of the men of this generation? what are they like?"To what then shall I compare the men of the present generation, and what do they resemble?
Luke 7:32They are like children who sit in the marketplace, and call one to another, saying, 'We piped to you, and you didn't dance. We mourned, and you didn't weep.'They are like children who are seated in the market-place, crying out to one another, and saying, We made music for you, but you did not take part in the dance; we gave cries of sorrow, but you were not sad. They are like children sitting in the public square and calling out to one another, `We have played the flute to you, and you have not danced: we have sung dirges, and you have not shown sorrow.'
Luke 7:33For John the Baptizer came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'For John the Baptist came, taking no food or drink, and you say, He has an evil spirit. For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, `He has a demon!'
Luke 7:34The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'The Son of man came feasting, and you say, Here is a lover of food and wine, a friend of tax-farmers and sinners. The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, `Look, there is a man who is overfond of eating and drinking he is a friend of tax-gatherers and notorious sinners!'
Luke 7:35Wisdom is justified by all her children."But wisdom is judged to be right by all her children. But wisdom is justified by all who are truly wise."
Luke 7:36One of the Pharisees invited him to eat with him. He entered into the Pharisee's house, and sat at the table. And one of the Pharisees made a request that he would take a meal with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house and took his seat at the table. Now one of the Pharisees repeatedly invited Him to a meal at his house; so He entered the house and reclined at the table.
Luke 7:37Behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that he was reclining in the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of ointment. And there was a woman in the town who was a sinner; and when she had news that he was a guest in the Pharisee's house, she took a bottle of perfume,And there was a woman in the town who was a notorious sinner. Having learnt that Jesus was at table in the Pharisee's house she brought a flask of perfume,
Luke 7:38Standing behind at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she wiped them with the hair of her head, kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. And went in and took her place at the back of him, near his feet, weeping, so that his feet were washed with the drops from her eyes, and with her hair she made them dry, and kissing his feet she put the perfume on them.and, standing behind close to His feet, weeping, began to wet His feet with her tears; and with her hair she wiped the tears away again, while she lovingly kissed His feet and poured the perfume over them.
Luke 7:39Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw it, he said to himself, "This man, if he were a prophet, would have perceived who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner."Now when the Pharisee in whose house he was saw it, he said to himself, This man, if he was a prophet, would be conscious what sort of woman this is who has put her hands on him, that she is a sinner.Noticing this, the Pharisee, His host, said to himself, "This man, if he were really a Prophet, would know who and what sort of person this woman is who is touching him and would know that she is an immoral woman."
Luke 7:40Jesus answered him, "Simon, I have something to tell you." He said, "Teacher, say on."And Jesus, answering, said, Simon, I have something to say to you. And he said, Master, say on.In answer to his thoughts Jesus said to him, "Simon, I have a word to say to you." "Rabbi, say on," he replied.
Luke 7:41"A certain lender had two debtors. The one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And he said, Two men were in debt to a certain man of business: one had a debt of five hundred pence, and the other of fifty."There were once two men in debt to one money-lender," said Jesus; "one owed him five hundred shillings and the other fifty.
Luke 7:42When they couldn't pay, he forgave them both. Which of them therefore will love him most?"When they were unable to make payment, he made the two of them free of their debts. Which of them, now, will have the greater love for him?But neither of them could pay anything; so he freely forgave them both. Tell me, then, which of them will love him most?"
Luke 7:43Simon answered, "He, I suppose, to whom he forgave the most." He said to him, "You have judged correctly."Simon, in answer, said, It seems he whose debt was greater. And he said, Your decision is right."I suppose," replied Simon, "the one to whom he forgave most." "You have judged rightly," Jesus rejoined.
Luke 7:44Turning to the woman, he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head. And turning to the woman he said to Simon, You see this woman? I came into your house; you did not give me water for my feet: but she has been washing my feet with the drops from her eyes, and drying them with her hair. Then turning towards the woman He said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house: you gave me no water for my feet; but she has made my feet wet with her tears, and then wiped the tears away with her hair.
Luke 7:45You gave me no kiss, but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss my feet. You did not give me a kiss: but she, from the time when I came in, has gone on kissing my feet.No kiss did you give me; but she from the moment I came in has not left off tenderly kissing my feet.
Luke 7:46You didn't anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment. You put no oil on my head: but she has put perfume on my feet.No oil did you pour even on my head; but she has poured perfume upon my feet.
Luke 7:47Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."And so I say to you, She will have forgiveness for her sins which are great in number, because of her great love: but he who has small need of forgiveness gives little love. This is the reason why I tell you that her sins, her many sins, are forgiven because she has loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little."
Luke 7:48He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."And he said to her, You have forgiveness for your sins. And He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
Luke 7:49Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"And those who were seated at table with him said to themselves, Who is this who even gives forgiveness of sins? Then the other guests began to say to themselves, "Who can this man be who even forgives sins?"
Luke 7:50He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."And he said to the woman, By your faith you have salvation; go in peace. But He said to the woman, "Your faith has cured you: go, and be at peace."
