Mark 16:1 | When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint him. | And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James, and Salome, got spices, so that they might come and put them on him. | When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, in order to come and anoint His body. |
Mark 16:2 | Very early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. | And very early after dawn on the first day of the week, they came at the time of the coming up of the sun to the place where the body had been put. | So, very soon after sunrise on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb; |
Mark 16:3 | They were saying among themselves, "Who will roll away the stone from the door of the tomb for us?" | And they were saying among themselves, Who will get the stone rolled away from the door for us? | and they were saying to one another, `Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" |
Mark 16:4 | for it was very big. Looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back | And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled back; and it was of great size. | But then, looking up, they saw that the stone was already rolled back: for it was of immense size. |
Mark 16:5 | Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed. | And when they went in, they saw a young man seated on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were full of wonder. | Upon entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at their right hand, clothed in a long white robe. They were astonished and terrified. |
Mark 16:6 | He said to them, "Don't be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Behold, the place where they laid him! | And he said to them, Do not be troubled: you are looking for Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been put to death on the cross; he has come back from the dead; he is not here: see, the place where they put him! | But he said to them, "Do not be terrified. It is Jesus you are looking for the Nazarene who has been crucified. He has come back to life: He is not here: this is the place where they laid Him. |
Mark 16:7 | But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He goes before you into Galilee. There you will see him, as he said to you.'" | But go, say to his disciples and to Peter, He goes before you into Galilee: there you will see him, as he said to you. | But go and tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you into Galilee: and that there you will see Him, as He told you." |
Mark 16:8 | They went out, and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had come on them. They said nothing to anyone; for they were afraid. | And they went out quickly from the place, because fear and great wonder had come on them: and they said nothing to anyone, because they were full of fear that ... | So they came out, and fled from the tomb, for they were greatly agitated and surprised; and they said not a word to any one, for they were afraid. |
Mark 16:9 | Now when he had risen early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons. | Now when he came back from the dead early on the first day of the week, he went first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had sent out seven evil spirits. | [But He rose to life early on the first day of the week, and appeared first to Mary of Magdala from whom He had expelled seven demons. |
Mark 16:10 | She went and told those who had been with him, as they mourned and wept. | She went and gave news of it to those who had been with him, while they were sorrowing and weeping. | She went and brought the tidings to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping. |
Mark 16:11 | When they heard that he was alive, and had been seen by her, they disbelieved. | And they, when it came to their ears that he was living, and had been seen by her, had no belief in it. | But they, when they were told that He was alive and that she had seen Him, could not believe it. |
Mark 16:12 | After these things he was revealed in another form to two of them, as they walked, on their way into the country. | And after these things he was seen in another form by two of them, while they were walking on their way into the country. | Afterwards He showed Himself in another form to two of them as they were walking, on their way into the country. |
Mark 16:13 | They went away and told it to the rest. They didn't believe them, either. | And they went away and gave news of it to the rest; and they had no belief in what was said. | These, again, went and told the news to the rest; but not even them did they believe. |
Mark 16:14 | Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they sat at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they didn't believe those who had seen him after he had risen. | And later he was seen by the eleven themselves while they were taking food; and he said sharp words to them because they had no faith and their hearts were hard, and because they had no belief in those who had seen him after he had come back from the dead. | Later still He showed Himself to the Eleven themselves whilst they were at table, and He upbraided them with their unbelief and obstinacy in not having believed those who had seen Him alive. |
Mark 16:15 | He said to them, "Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation. | And he said to them, Go into all the world, and give the good news to everyone. | Then He said to them, "Go the whole world over, and proclaim the Good News to all mankind. |
Mark 16:16 | He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. | He who has faith and is given baptism will get salvation; but he who has not faith will be judged. | He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves will be condemned. |
Mark 16:17 | These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new languages; | And these signs will be with those who have faith: in my name they will send out evil spirits; and they will make use of new languages; | And signs shall attend those who believe, even such as these. By making use of my name they shall expel demons. They shall speak new languages. |
Mark 16:18 | they will take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will in no way hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." | They will take up snakes, and if there is poison in their drink, it will do them no evil; they will put their hands on those who are ill, and they will get well. | They shall take up venomous snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison it shall do them no harm whatever. They shall lay their hands on the sick, and the sick shall recover." |
Mark 16:19 | So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. | So then the Lord Jesus, after he had said these words to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. | So the Lord Jesus after having thus spoken to them was taken up into Heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. |
Mark 16:20 | They went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen. | And they went out, preaching everywhere, the Lord working with them, and giving witness to the word by the signs which came after. So be it. | But they went out and made proclamation everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming their Message by the signs which accompanied it.] |
