Hebrews 4:1Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps a promise being left of entering into his rest, anyone of you should seem to have come short of it.Let us then, though we still have God's word that we may come into his rest, go in fear that some of you may be unable to do so.We may fear, then, lest a promise being left of entering into His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short,
Hebrews 4:2For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as also they, but the word of hearing did not profit them, because it was not mixed with faith by those who heard.And, truly, the good news came to us, even as it did to them; but the hearing of the word did them no good, because they were not united in faith with the true hearers.for we also are having good news proclaimed, even as they, but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard,
Hebrews 4:3For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he has said, "As I swore in my wrath, They will not enter into my rest;" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.For those of us who have belief come into his rest; even as he has said, As I said in my oath when I was angry, They may not come into my rest: though the works were done from the time of the making of the world.for we do enter into the rest we who did believe, as He said, `So I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest ;` and yet the works were done from the foundation of the world,
Hebrews 4:4For he has said somewhere about the seventh day like this, "God rested on the seventh day from all his works;"For in one place he has said of the seventh day, And God had rest from all his works on the seventh day;for He spake in a certain place concerning the seventh [day] thus: `And God did rest in the seventh day from all His works;`
Hebrews 4:5and in this place again, "They will not enter into my rest."And in the same place he says again, They will not come into my rest.and in this [place] again, `If they shall enter into My rest ;`
Hebrews 4:6Seeing therefore it remains that some should enter therein, and they to whom the good news were before preached failed to enter in because of disobedience,So that as it is clear that some have to go in, and that the first hearers of the good news were not able to go in because they went against God's orders,since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbelief
Hebrews 4:7he again defines a certain day, today, saying through David so long a time afterward (just as has been said), "Today if you will hear his voice, Don't harden your hearts."After a long time, again naming a certain day, he says in David, Today (as he had said before), Today if you will let his voice come to your ears, be not hard of heart,again He doth limit a certain day, `To-day,` (in David saying, after so long a time,) as it hath been said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts,`
Hebrews 4:8For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day.for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;
Hebrews 4:9There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.So that there is still a Sabbath-keeping for the people of God.there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God,
Hebrews 4:10For he who has entered into his rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from his.For the man who comes into his rest has had rest from his works, as God did from his.for he who did enter into his rest, he also rested from his works, as God from His own.
Hebrews 4:11Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.Because of this, let us have a strong desire to come into that rest, and let no one go after the example of those who went against God's orders.May we be diligent, then, to enter into that rest, that no one in the same example of the unbelief may fall,
Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit, the bones and the muscles, and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart.for the reckoning of God is living, and working, and sharp above every two-edged sword, and piercing unto the dividing asunder both of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart;
Hebrews 4:13There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.And there is nothing made which is not completely clear to him; there is nothing covered, but all things are open to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.and there is not a created thing not manifest before Him, but all things [are] naked and open to His eyes with whom is our reckoning.
Hebrews 4:14Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.Having then a great high priest, who has made his way through the heavens, even Jesus the Son of God, let us be strong in our faith.Having, then, a great chief priest passed through the heavens Jesus the Son of God may we hold fast the profession,
Hebrews 4:15For we don't have a high priest who can't be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.For we have not a high priest who is not able to be touched by the feelings of our feeble flesh; but we have one who has been tested in all points as we ourselves are tested, but without sin.for we have not a chief priest unable to sympathise with our infirmities, but [one] tempted in all things in like manner apart from sin;
Hebrews 4:16Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for timely help.Then let us come near to the seat of grace without fear, so that mercy may be given to us, and we may get grace for our help in time of need.we may come near, then, with freedom, to the throne of the grace, that we may receive kindness, and find grace for seasonable help.
