Genesis 22:1 | It happened after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" He said, "Here I am." | And it came to pass after these things, that God tried Abraham, and said to him, Abraham! and he said, Here am I. | After these things, God tempted Abraham, and said to him: Abraham, Abraham. And he answered: Here I am. |
Genesis 22:2 | He said, "Now take your son, your only son, whom you love, even Isaac, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there for a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of." | And he said, Take now thy son, thine only [son], whom thou lovest, Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah, and there offer him up for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. | He said to him: Take thy only begotten son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and go into the land of vision: and there thou shalt offer him for a holocaust upon one of the mountains which I will show thee. |
Genesis 22:3 | Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went to the place of which God had told him. | And Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he clave the wood for the burnt-offering, and rose up and went to the place that God had told him of. | So Abraham rising up in the night, saddled his ass: and took with him two young men, and Isaac his son: and when he had cut wood for the holocaust he went his way to the place which God had commanded him. |

Genesis 22:5 | Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go yonder. We will worship, and come back to you. | And Abraham said to his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you. | And he said to his young men: Stay you here with the ass: I and the boy will go with speed as far as yonder, and after we have worshipped, will return to you. |
Genesis 22:6 | Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. He took in his hand the fire and the knife. They both went together. | And Abraham took the wood of the burnt-offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and the knife, and they went both of them together. | And he took the wood for the holocaust, and laid it upon Isaac his son: and he himself carried in his hands fire and a sword. And as they two went on together, |
Genesis 22:7 | Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, "My father?" He said, "Here I am, my son." He said, "Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" | And Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said, My father! And he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood; but where is the sheep for a burnt-offering? | Isaac said to his father: My father. And he answered: What wilt thou, son? Behold, saith he, fire and wood: where is the victim for the holocaust? |
Genesis 22:8 | Abraham said, "God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son." So they both went together. | And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself with the sheep for a burnt-offering. And they went both of them together. | And Abraham said: God will provide himself a victim for an holocaust, my son. So they went on together. |
Genesis 22:9 | They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood. | And they came to the place of which God had told him. And Abraham built the altar there, and piled the wood; and he bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. | And they came to the place which God had shown him, where he built an altar, and laid the wood in order upon it: and when he had bound Isaac his son, he laid him on the altar upon the pile of wood. |
Genesis 22:10 | Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to kill his son. | And Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to slaughter his son. | And he put forth his hand and took the sword, to sacrifice his son. |
Genesis 22:11 | The angel of Yahweh called to him out of the sky, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" He said, "Here I am." | And the Angel of Jehovah called to him from the heavens, and said, Abraham, Abraham! And he said, Here am I. | And behold an angel of the Lord from heaven called to him, saying: Abraham, Abraham. And he answered: Here I am. |
Genesis 22:12 | He said, "Don't lay your hand on the boy, neither do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me." | And he said, Stretch not out thy hand against the lad, neither do anything to him; for now I know that thou fearest God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son], from me. | And he said to him: Lay not thy hand upon the boy, neither do thou any thing to him: now I know that thou fearest God, and hast not spared thy only begotten son for my sake. |
Genesis 22:13 | Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son. | And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, behind was a ram caught in the thicket by its horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt-offering instead of his son. | Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw behind his back a ram amongst the briers sticking fast by the horns, which he took and offered for a holocaust instead of his son. |
Genesis 22:14 | Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh-jireh. As it is said to this day, "In Yahweh's mountain it will be provided. | And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh; as it is said at the present day, On the mount of Jehovah will be provided. | And he called the name of that place, The Lord seeth. Whereupon even to this day it is said: In the mountain the Lord will see. |
Genesis 22:15 | The angel of Yahweh called to Abraham a second time out of the sky, | And the Angel of Jehovah called to Abraham from the heavens a second time, | And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven, saying: |
Genesis 22:16 | and said, "I have sworn by myself, says Yahweh, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son, | and said, By myself I swear, saith Jehovah, that, because thou hast done this, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son], | By my own self have I sworn, saith the Lord: because thou hast done this thing, and hast not spared thy only begotten son for my sake: |
Genesis 22:17 | that in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is on the seashore. Your seed will possess the gate of his enemies. | I will richly bless thee, and greatly multiply thy seed, as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is on the sea-shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; | I will bless thee, and I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand that is by the seashore: thy seed shall possess the gates of their enemies. |
Genesis 22:18 | In your seed will all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice." | and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because thou hast hearkened to my voice. | And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because thou hast obeyed my voice. |
Genesis 22:19 | So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beersheba. Abraham lived at Beersheba. | And Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba.
